  1. while I was under there, I painted and stickered the calipers.
  2. Some careful comparisons, a sharpie and a drill. Mudguards are on and they look decent. Remains to be seen how they will handle the New England winters. I'll post some better pictures next week when the 18" G-Spiders and the roof spoiler are on. steviej
  3. If the tires will not see snow at any time, seriously look into the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. Totally awesome tires. If they will see snow, the consider the Goodyear Eagle F1 All-season radial. Usually, you can't go wrong with Michelin either. The Primacy tire is very quiet as is the Pilot Sport A/S. The Pilot Sport may have a better traction advantage. As a matter of fact, 18" Pilots are going on my GS within the next couple of weeks. steviej
  4. sold within 2 hours of posting on craigslist, picked up early tonight. steviej
  5. My 18" wheels and tires are going up for sale. Wheels: 18" Chrome Enkei LM 1/5S. These are a traditional but stylish 5 spoke design wheel. The bolt pattern is 5 x114.3 and the offset is 40 for each wheel. They were only used from May to October and were stored inside during the winter months for the past 5 years. Only one rim has some minor curb rash (as can be seen in picture). The wheels come with the original Enkei center caps, a set of chrome lug nuts (16) and a set of chrome locking lug nuts (4). Each rim currently has a 12mmx1.5 hub centering ring installed. The centering rings are easily swapped out if you need a different size (responsibility of buyer). The chrome valve stems and caps were newly replaced with the tires two years ago. There is the usual usage wear around the lug nuts. Tires: Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 Radials. These tires are incredible. They were named as best overall performance tire by Car And Driver and eurotuner magazines in 2005. (actual reprints will be sent with items). The size of the tires are 235/40-18. They are ZR rated tires and only have 11,000 miles on them (8/32 tread depth). These tires are phenomenal in rain and on dry pavement, however, they are not an all season radial and should not be used in snow. The tires have never had to be repaired and have no bulges or bubbles. Extras: As stated previously, Gorilla brand chrome lug nuts, Gorilla brand locking lug nuts with two keys. a Gorilla brand telescopic lug wrench with two sockets that fit 17mm, 19mm 13/16" and 7/8" lug nuts. The wrench has never been used. Additional Information: The wheel/tire package are coming off a 2002 Lexus ES300. I have sold the car and these rims and tires will not fit my new car. According to Enkei the wheels will accept TPMS (tire pressure sensor monitors) but these are not included in this auction. The wheels and tires are currently balanced and run smooth as can be. This wheel/tire package is also being advertised locally, thus I reserve the right to cancel this auction at anytime. Shipping: The items can be shipped by UPS Ground but they weigh 50 lbs each (wheel and tire) and the box will be 25"x25"X11". According to the UPS Ground shipping calculator, the rates vary from $60 to $100 per box depending on location. I have set shipping for $150 and that is the responsibility of the buyer. I will pay all remaining shipping costs. If you are local, the wheels/tires can be picked up at my home and no shipping fee will apply. Delivery by me to a location within 100 miles of Scituate, MA can also be arranged. Asking price: $500.00 (not including shipping) PM me if you would like any further information or additional pictures. Thanks, steviej
  6. that "2 stages" you found are the winter and summer wiper positions. it explains in the owners manual. However, whichever postion it is in, the wiper should still come close to the driver's pillar. steviej
  7. yep, they exist in these parts, not as many, but they is here. steviej
  8. because ya get what ya pay for.....Jeeps have no where the reliability of Toyota or Lexus. exactly what I am saying. How much did you pay for both extended warranties for the Lex and Toyo? Way more than $800, right. steviej
  9. I was using the Mequiars PlastX, but the hazyness always came back in a few months. With the CrystalView, it didn't come back, at least up until I sold the car last month. steviej
  10. Try your local branch of the Better Business Bureau. Just out of curiosity, have you tried to call the Lexus number? You could try to talk to the local regional representative in your area. Call another Lexus dealership and tell them you are looking for a new place to have your car serviced. If it truely can be done, they may do it to get your business. steviej
  11. they charge that because the average customer pays it. No you do not have to have it done at Lexus. Just keep all reciept that you had it done. It is actaully a little more. It is a total fluid change service. Given you car is 8 years old, I would include a tranny flush, brake fluid flush, power steering fluid flush, oil and filter (if not done recently) and coolant flush. Check with a Toyota dealership too, they tend to be cheaper and use the same fluids. If you have a good inde mechanic, they are quite capable of doing it too. How good are you with a wrench. Most of the stuff can be done in your driveway (that's what I do). steviej
  12. I ran a 235/40-18 on my 02 ES, the rims were 18x8 and had a 40mm offset and the rear tires would hit the inside of the fender only when I had an adult in the back seat and I hit a big bump. Don't know how that relates to you, but since the IS is RWD you may need to consider spacers on your rear wheels. steviej
  13. I said an hour cause I included set up, getting everything ready and most of all, I am a perfectionist so I read and reread the directions throughout the process. The time spent sanding can be a little or a lot. I am sure it will vary from person to person. I have used this product on several friends' cars as well and I must say it is a good product. steviej
  14. research and investigate any extended warranty you may purchase. Find out exactly what is covered, how much is paid by them and how. Some warranties reimburse the policy holder, some will pay the service center directly. Extended warranties give great piece of mind but rarely pay for themselves, especially if you keep current with all maintenance and service. steviej
  15. I redid the plastic lenses on my ES about a year ago. I used a product called CrystalView. I found it at WalMart of all places. It was $20 for the packet and contains enough to do both sides. CrystalView Website It comes with two grades of sand paper, pads, detailed instructions, two x two chemical packets (one was a polish compound and the other was a clear chemical sealer). It took about an hour to do both sides. You have to wet sand, polish, rinse, let dry, apply, let dry, apply again and then you are done. The lights looked like new and last much longer than traditional buffing. steviej
  16. Ok brycejag, you have had your moment. Take a bow and get over yourself. Now, do you have anything more inspiring to add to this discussion or is this your final contribution? With a wit like yours I am sure you have something more intelligent to say. Member123, what is your problem here? That comment is bordering on just plain rude. The guy has only got 5 posts and not one of them was sarcastic or meant to be funny. He simply added that his fuel door makes a noise when you run a towel over it. How can you determine his wit? I must ask you to tone down the arrogance. There is no reason to make a brand new member feel uncomfortable. steviej
  17. so maybe it isn't a design flaw after all and yours are just defective. I will be curious to what the problem is. In response to "Children can we stop this now?"...you brought it on. You have to expect at least a little ribbing. Oh yeah, and I see you are trying to bait other theads now too.
  18. don't know....sold the boat cause the price of gas is outrageous. I will just be a mate on friend's boats. But it should be good, just so many restirictions now on what you can keep. steviej
  19. check you connections, fuses and harness first. it could be just loose. steviej
  20. Nobody ever said you didn't know what you were talking about so calm down. As a matter of fact, it never crossed my mind. I am sure you are vey knowledgable about any car you own and many other cars. What we are saying is that you !Removed! about "your bad" stuff too much. Your points are well taken on every aspect including the rain in the PNW but rain is rain and we have it too. By the way, my wipers work perfectly, at least for me. You said it yourself in another thread that you were too demanding. It doesn't matter whether it is a Lexus, Acura, Infinity, MB, BMW, Bugati, Rolls Royce, or Hyundai, anyone can find a defect or lack of attention to detail if they look hard enough. Member123, you are welcome to use this forum in anyway you see fit and say whatever you want about your GS350 as long as it falls within the rules and guidelines of the website. Don't worry you are not in any danger of breaking any rules. I say that becasue I am management and I have to whenever anyone says "I will do what I want". However, as a fellow enthusiast, if you constantly tote on the downers, no one will want to play with you anymore. You find the car of your dreams some day, we all will. steviej
  21. here we go: Is it a click or a clunk. Does it occur when you are driving straight and on a flat surface. Go to a parking lot, and drive in a huge circle and gradually close the circle. What do you hear. Does the click/clunk appear gradually. Then do it again in the other direction. If so, then I would immediately suspect CV joint. Easy to spot too, jack up and support the car. crawl under and inspect all CV boots and see if any are ripped or if the grease has spun out. If so, then you got a shaft that needs replacing. Does it only happen when the weight of the car shifts (like when you hit the brakes or hit a large bump)? Could be as simple as the sway bar bushings. I had an annoying clunk in the front left of my 02 ES. Replace sway bar bushings cause thats what it was in the rear 6 months earlier. Clunk continued. Was ready to replace the sway bar linkages but the dealer found that the large nut on top of the strut mount was a 1/2 turn loose. Tightened it and the noise was gone. Don't go replacing expensive parts until you have ruled out the obvious and the cheapest. steviej
