I recently had my TPMS warning lights come on for no reason...tire pressure was fine, etc. Turned ot the a wire going to the Main/2nd set switch under the passenger dash was disconnected by the service guy when the cleaned/de0odorized my AC system. It took a certain number of miles in rotation of the sensors to trigger the warning lights. Maybe you got a loose wire or switch. Its under warranty so go have it checked out. steviej

it's a sealed housing. you can get OEM lens/housing for $212 here. I have ordered from them before with no problems. Another idea would be to google and then contact salvage yards in your area. steviej

HOLBY: STOP YELLING Funny, I am not seeing this, at least not with the 2006 GS300 AWD. I purchased mine in May with 30k miles on it and the original Dunlops. There are no signs of cupping and the tires have even wear across all tread. To boot, they even have 6/32 of tread left (thats alot for 30k miles). I even had it algined by the dealer when I put on a second set of 18" wheels. steviej

I currently have 18 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my GS AWD and I like them very much for rain and dry pavement. I have nto used them in snow. The stock 17" rims still have the runfarts on them and I am up in the air as to whether or not they will be used in the winter. I purchased the car from my Aunt and she said the two winters that she had the runflats they were great in the snow with the AWD. However, she live on Cape Cod and got mostly rain so I don't know how much snow the runflats actually saw. I do know that I am not going to be running the Pilots in the snow for two reasons: 1. they got a poor reveiw and 2. I didn not buy the 18" rims for use in the New England winters. I will probably start out with the runflats and see how it goes. If they feel unsafe or like they have minimal traction I will be getting a dedicated set of performance snow tires: Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 or Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D (not runflat version). steviej

It is true that there is not key hole for a conventional key to be inserted and used to start the vehicle. However, it is NOT true that the vehicle cannot be started. I refer you to the instructions clearly stated on pg 353 of the 2006 owner's manual......"Starting the engine when the electronic key battery is discharged." steviej

if you go to www.lexus.com and click on the Owner's link (2/3 the way down on the left hand side of the page) you can register as the new owner. Registration has nothing to do with the DMV, your license plate or insurance. You are just registering it on Lexus' website. Once you do that, you can request a brand new owners manual and supplemental owners manual. Lexus will send it to you FOR FREE. While you are waiting for those to arrive (takes about a week) you will have access to the entire owners manual in PDF form on that website. I wouldn't want to print it at home cause it amounts to almost 300 pages. On the other hand, I actually have an extra copy you can have for $100. :whistles: steviej

Turns out in my case that when the service tech "misted" my car for the mouse peeing in the AC ducts, he unplugged the Main/2nd switch underneath the passenger dash board. This is what caused my warning lights. All better now. I did ask my service rep if the tire sensors are covered and she said they are definately covered under the 4 year/50,000 mile warranty. The only time they won't cover them is if they are mounted on aftermarket products and installed by someone other than them. This is according to Herb Chambers Lexus. sj

The 2002 IS 300 has an inline 6 cylinder I believe, not a V6 like the ES. The sensor position is universal, sensor 1 is before the cat, sensor 2 is after the cat. What I am not sure of is which bank of 3 cylinders in bank 1 and which is bank 2. I suggest you contact Barkat, he is an IS guru. steviej

I'd find the guy that gave you that quote and slap him on the face. There's a tutorial here somewhere (do a search) - its really easy - your actually over thinking things - the whole bulb assembly twists out and you buy a new one. It shouldn't cost you more than $6 and five minutes of time. The $419 price tag is because you most likely have HID bulbs, which will run you about $300 each from the dealer and $100 for their hour allotment to put it in. You can get the HID bulb D2R most likely online for about $100 and it will take about 20 minutes to get it in if you unfamiliar with it. At least it is the right hand side so you don't have to disconnect and move the battery. The whole bulb assembly does not just twist out. There is a rubber boot that comes off, then the heavy duty silver end cap--careful not to crimp the wires. Then the spring loaded clip, then the bulb is free to come out. Repeat the process but take note as to the orientation fo the bulb coming out. If memory serves correctly, the ignitor is facing down. steviej steviej

All these tire sensor threads have jinxed me. My sensor light came on Wed and the red exclamation point is on. All tires are at 32lbs. These are the sensors that the dealer just installed at the end of June. I have tried reinitializing. I have tried lowering the tires and refilling with air. The car goes in 7am next Wednesday. I will not be paying anything on this service. They have to at least have a 90 day warranty on parts. I will ask my dealeship where they stand on the valves. The stem grommet may be a wear item but the TPMS is an electronic device that should be covered under warranty. Call 1-800-25-LEXUS and see what they can do for you. I will post up next week as to what my problem/resolution was. steviej

any independent mechanic can replace this. The expensive part of this will be the sensor itself. That alone will run about $250. Give Toyota a call and see what they will do it for. You could get the part from them and take it to your mechanic to install also. It does not have to be Lexus that has to fix it. P1130 and 1135 indicate Bank 1 Sensor 1, which unfortunately is the hardest to get at. It is the sensor between the catilytic converter and the exhaust manifold on the bank of cylinders closest to the windshield/firewall. steviej

What year ES? Either way, Bank 2 is the bank of cylinders closest to the radiator. Sensor 2 is the one AFTER the catylitic converter. I will base my description from memory of my 2002 ES. Older models may vary slightly. If you stand in front of the car and look down between the exhaust manifold and the radiator, it is the one way down low. If you move the air intake scoop that goes to the radiator housing, then you will be able to see the sensor and reach the cable a little better. If you have jack stands, you could lift and support the front end and get to this sensor from underneath as well. steviej
