  1. Are the brakes the same? If so I'll just ask for 2000 Camry brake pads at a Toyota dealership if they fit on the Lexus. Bring your Lexus part numbers, most Toyota dealers can cross reference the part numbers if they have a the same part. steviej
  2. My toyo/lex pads had a blue backing, but no matter. When you put them on, in addition to the shims did you use Brake Quiet or some other type noise reducing goop? steviej
  3. what kind of pads did you use? Toyota/Lexus OEM or another brand? Ceramic or semi-metallic? semi-metallic will make noise like that. steviej
  4. spinners absolutely do not belong on a Lex. maybe a hummer or escalade, something domestic, but not a lex. the shame of it. Talk some sence into that misguided child. steviej
  5. Lumpy, a picture is worth a thousand words. snap one and post it up to better help us. steviej

  7. if a recharge doens't work, have the expansion valve investigated. It is a common AC problem with early model ES300s. steviej
  8. did it stop working by both switches (the driver door switch and the switch on the suspect door)? Is the little led light on both swithces lit up? Are all other windows working? steviej
  9. jack up the rear end and safely support it. Take a good look, it will become self explanitory. There is a bracket around each bushing. Two or three bolts come out, the bracket moves out of the way, the bushing has a slice in it so that you can get it on and off the sway bar. Put the new one on with a little white lithium grease, replace the bracket and bolts and off you go.....noiseless. The sway bar is attached at both ends so don't worry about it falling on your face, it won't. It will move a little when you remove the brackets, but not to worry. steviej
  10. also known as sway bar bushings. funny how these little buggers can create so much noise when they are just a little bit worn. I replace my ($10 each and 45 minutes of my time) and it made a world of difference. steviej
  11. I am quite please with the Michelin Pilot Sport Exalto A/S that I put on over a year ago. Quiet, excellent rain traction, good dry pavement traction and snow traction. Another tire that members will recommend are Bridgestone Turanza LS-Vs. The Goodyear Response Edge is fairly new to the market but it will be interesting to see how these fair. steviej
  12. This is only the beginning of my second summer, but they have not worn that I can tell with my eye. However, I have not taken a depth gauge to it. steviej
  13. Interesting because Toyo (Proxes, J33s, FZ4s) has been plagued with increased road noise with age and mileage. steviej
  14. If it is a high performance summer tire you seek, serious look into the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. They don't flat spot and are very quiet. Excellent traction in rain and on dry pavement. Right now I am running 235/40-18s. Please note: I have modified the title of this thread to better address your content and have merged your "245/45-18 Tires" thread with this thread to avoid simultaneous running threads. steviej
  15. call the dealer, this may be modifialbe under the C-BEST programming. steviej
  16. several service visits in general. If you go to Lexus of Norwood, ask for one of two service advisors, Brandi or Ronni. Both very intelligent and adept women. Both of their service teams are top notch. steviej
  17. read this thread here. then contact SW03ES for more details. steviej
  18. most likely coolant temperature sensor itself. is the CEL lit up? steviej
  19. "with great tread left" this is very subjective. How many miles are on the tires and how old are they? Rubber can harden over time regardless of usage or lack of usage. Harder rubber can cause more road noise. Frankly I am not surprised that you have increased noise. I had a set of Toyo FZ4s and by 21,000 miles, it sounded like an 18 wheeler inside the cabin. Several other people also have reported on this forum that their Toyo Proxes also increased significantly in the noise department despite still having usable tread left. steviej
  20. Lexus of Watertown would be the closest Lexus dealership to you. I use Lexus of Norwood, further south on Rt. 1. and unfortunately don't know any indies in that area. Never had a problem there. My friend has had good and bad experience at Watertown. But you have to check each out and decide for yourself. I reside in a coastal town south of Boston, called Scituate, about 1 hour driving from Waltham. Waltham is west of Boston. Very nice area and central to most everything you need, except the beach. steviej

  22. what year? the 02-06 are always on ebay and they come in many colors. steviej
  23. check the easy stuff first. The black acordian-like tubing that goes from the airbox to the intake manifold is prone to hardening due to the heat under the hood. When it becomes hard, it becomes brittle and may crack or get small holes. These openings let more air in than the computer knows about and makes the engine run rough. Check this hose all over. Other areas to look for would be a dirty throttle body, dirty fuel injectors, and a dirty idle air control valve. steviej
  24. does it flash every time you use it? Mine did it a couple of times right after the AC belt got severly splashed by a huge puddle. Never happened since. This can happen when the AC belt starts to slip. When was the last time the AC belt was replaced. Check it to see if it is old, worn, cracked, hardening or too loose. steviej
  25. a very very very little amount of white lithium grease spread very thin. steviej
