  1. can you report on their traction in light to moderate snow? I would assume because you are in San Ant. TX, that you will not. How is the rain/wet traction? steviej
  2. I purchased a set of JDM mudguards in OEM color for my 06 GS300 from Carson Toyota through L-Tunedparts.com. The four guards arrived today and look sweet. They also came with a package of fasteners that included: 2 push pins 2 long screws with washers 2 short screws with washers 8 medium screws with washers 6 clips The one thing missing was an instruction sheet. When Carson Toyota was guestioned if there was any kind of instruction sheet that gave any clue as to which fastener is to be used where, they responded: "Sorry sir, but Toyota Japan does not provide any instructions. When they do they are in Japanese." Ok, so has anybody bought these and successfully mounted them? Just thought I would ask before I tried to wing it. steviej
  3. I have to chuckle at your posts. Now mind you, I don't mean that in a mean way. I have a 3rd generation GS as well, with all the same features, and think the car is actually quite comforatble and totally not the beast you make it out to be. But in all honesty, if the car bugs you that much, sell it and give us a rest. steviej
  4. If you are close, why not. For me, it's a 45 minute ride to my Lexus dealer but only a 2 minute ride to CVS or 10 minutes to Radio Shack plus Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks are right next door to each. I save the gas as this is an easy DIY. steviej
  5. it is hard to say because you fail to list the options. for example: does it have Mark Levison Sound, NAV, etc. go to www.kbb.com and you can find out the private resale price, the trade in price and what you would expect to pay at a dealership price specific to your geographical location. steviej PS, your recent thread in the Buy&Sell Forum to sell this car has been deleted because you failed to read the rules pertaining to posting in that forum.
  6. I hate to mix threads, but were you having NAV/CD problems before you pulled these fuses and was your other issue subsequent to you pulling these fuses? as stated in the other thread....get it checked out. Something is up with your electrical system....maybe a short. steviej
  7. sounds like you got a short somewhere or a wire is loose and when stressed by a left turn causes loss of power to certain items. The "fatal" one may have been the main power in the fuse box. Did the engine "shut off" and restart or did it always stay running? be safe, have it checked out by a qualified technician....one that can follow wires and read a meter. steviej
  8. They are about $100. you can order it from you lexus parts counter. If you know anybody in the body shop industry, they can order it too. you can even order it online here Now, who is going to install it? That will cost you if you don't do it yourself. steviej
  9. don't forget quiet. They like quiet tires to excentuate the quietness of the vehicle when you test drive. The Bridgestone Potenza RE92 was one of the quietest tires I have ever ridden on, however, it was THE worst in rain and snow traction I have ever owned. I have heard similar gripes on the Michelin Energy MXV4s. steviej
  10. are we dealing with the cartridge style CD deck or a 6 "in-dash" deck? I am guessing without a lot of information that a CD is stuck. I had this happen to me because I had a home printed stick on label on a CD I burned.....mistake! steviej
  11. have you tried pulling the fuse and then reseating it for each of the rear windows. This may cause the programming to return to default. steviej
  12. go to homelink's website and follow their instructions. click on USA/English, then click on programming Homelink in the top menu, then select what you want to do in square #1 (program garage door opener), then in box 2 put in your car; select GS300/400 then select 2008, in box 3 you have choices PDF, video tutorial, etc.). good luck. steviej
  13. provided the rubber boots are not damaged and leaking and the caliper itself is not seizing, then there is not reason to replace the most expensive part of the brakes. If it ain't a problem then leave em alone. I agree with what Randy&Bonnie said about the rotors.' For what little they cost, I do replace the shims when new pads go on and apply some "brake quiet" when installing the new shims. steviej
  14. honestly, I don't know. My tire guy set me up with the enkies. He took care of the offset and the obtained the correct hub centering rings. I want to say the ES offset is a 35mm but may be wrong. I would also say that the offset doesn't change with each year. I know the OEM 16" rims fit perfectly on a 2001 ES. You can go to Tirerack.com and pose that question to them. steviej
  15. You are absolutely right. If you don't mind the tire and ! warning light, then you really don't have a problem. Personally, it would bug the crap out of me in about three minutes, but that is just my OCD. steviej
  16. These are 18" Enkeis on my 02 ES. They are going up for sale next week cause they don't fit my GS.
  17. you and my dad must have went to autoshop together. I watched him do this once. When using the two bolt method pay close attention to what gbhrps posted, and if I might add: tighten each bolt a little at a time -- going back and forth from one to the other. Don't sock down gorilla tight then the other. Call me crazy but I love the sound it makes when the rotor finally breaks free. It is the sound of a job done right. steviej
  18. cheap or expensive, ceramic pads eat up rotors quicker than traditional organic material pads. steviej
  19. I can't answer that because he is not a car buff like us. As long as it rolls he is happy. I on the other hand like them, but I always seem to buy a car that has a tire size that the TT doesn't come in. steviej
  20. They are built into the valve stems. Most tire shops are capable of tranferring them when they mount the new tires, but it may cost you a little more because they have to dismount the current tire to get them out. The 06 GS is actually capable of having 2 sets of sensors registered in the computer. Your lexus dealer will have to register the second set into the computer. Then when you swap tires you just hit the button under the glove compartment. (this is all in your manual). The only downside to the second set of sensors is that they cost over $100 each. steviej
  21. Bren, Don't forget road surface. That plays alot in the noise. My friend has Trip Tred's on his Avalon and on some roads around here, they are extremely loud and other roads they are very quiet, but all tires are subject to this variation. As for the Yoko Avids, I haven't read a report yet that doesn't state that these get louder with time, usually by 10k miles. steviej
  22. go with the professionally applied clear film. However, any paint chips should be filled/patched/painted before the film is applied so it will look the best. I am having it done as soon as the paint pen comes into the dealer. The leather and leather like bras of the 80's actually can do more harm to the paint than they do protecting it. steviej
  23. is it an offensive smell, like a dead animal? Although not in Lexi, the following have happened. 1. I have a friend who hit a squirrel and it got lodged up in her strut/spring and started to rot. 2. My aunt had the smell of burning popcorn whenever she put on the heater: turned out a mouse had gotten in the duct work and made a nest. This started to cook when the heat was on. Check down in between the cushions, did any food item get lodged down in there? Anything is possible with kids (and drunk adults but I will save that story for another time). steviej
  24. They will fit. I am actually thinking of doing the same thing myself. I like the G-spider style rims. You will have to pop for another set of TPMS sensors or transfer the ones you have in the 17s to the 18s. steviej
