  2. you must achieve a post count of 20 before you can post in the Buy & Sell Forum as well as utilize the PM functions. This 20 post count rule was put in effect to guard against people that join to just start spamming members with crap either by PMs or by posts in the Buy and Sell forum. However, a moderator or another member that has a post count above 20 can place the legitamate information you would like posted. Please read the Buy & Sell Forum guidelines and provide me the your required information here. I will then move the thread to the Buy & Sell Forum for you. Hope this answers your questions. steviej
  3. one or several brake rotors may be slightly warped. Take it to a good brake shop and have them check your rotors for "run out". Find out if they are within specs. If they are, find out if they are "turnable". What I mean is, find out if there is enough thickness to the rotor to have the shop remove a slight amount of the surface to make them true again. If there is not enough thickness to remove, then consider replacing your rotors. steviej
  4. There are several dash mounted Navi units with audio that run about $1000. Several good names are Garmin and Magellan. Go to Best Buy.com or Circuit City.com or even Crutchfield.com and check them out. Cheaper than that are some handheld GPS units and PDA based systems. Very protable and some even have street maps. steviej
  5. my 02 owners manual also says premium fuel (Octane Rating of 91) is preferred but lessor grades are acceptable. I have been running 89 for the last two tankfuls and haven't had any knocking......YET. I must note the language is tricky. They say 91 is preferred, not required. I believe if premium unleaded fuel is mandatory, then there would be a sticker on the dash board near the fuel gauge say "USE PREMIUM UNLEADED FUEL ONLY" or something like that. steviej
  6. I fyou don't have any commercial photo editing software, (Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, etc), MS Photo Editor is a cheap alternative that is shipped with Office. If it basic but will resize a standard jpg or gif picture. 600 x 450 pixels is a good size for posting. Save it in the highest compression that is allowed. If you download to the gallery, then form a link in your post to the gallery, the pics will be immediately viewable in your posts. No clicking on an underline title of the pic. steviej
  7. do you have a RAND button or a SHUFFLE button? Try pressing and holding that button in for an extended period of time. On my unit, if I press the RAND button, it plays all the tracks on the same disk randomly. If I push and hold the same button until a beep is heard, then it will play all the tracks on all the CDs loaded in the changer randomly. However, mine is an 02 and I think it is a Pioneer. Anything in the manual? steviej
  8. I am moving this to the Detailing section as you will get more responces there. steviej
  9. I have them too. They are noisy. Let me know what you find, I have about 8,000 on mine from last summer and they go on this Thursday for another 2 seasons. I have heard some good words about Yokahamas. skperformance has the top of the level Toyos, and I think he said they were quiet. PM him. You might be able to get a prorated trade in on your FZ4s for the model he has. steviej
  10. I think the lack of responces is due to the fact that the majority of members don't like the chips or chip enhancements or don't trust them. I base this on comments made to previous posts of a similar nature. steviej
  11. welcome! :D post a pic, the dark blue is a rare color on a 99.
  12. be careful with the "universal" O2 sensor, they are not always universal. good luck. As for the stubborn sensor, try little bits of liquid wrench on the COLD threads over a period of several hours. Use an O2 socket and a large extension on the handle. Be careful again....don't break it off or strip the threads. steviej
  13. the Lexus inserts are $9 and $11 (20 and 24 inches respectively). The arms (with inserts) were $18 and $23 (he threw in a discount cause i am jokingly known around that dealership as the service manager's pain in the !Removed!). In discussions with the parts manager, he said the regular Toyota blades are just rubber where as the Lexus blades are a Teflon/rubber compound. The service guy did show me one 24 inch are that had a wing/scoop on it, that was $60. Really nice looking. Then, I told him I didn't think it was for an ES......he said oops, thought you had a GS. steviej
  14. and we should begin arriving at what time? I'll bring the pool toys. enjoy. Hope you don't have too many adventerous neighborhood kids like I do. steviej
  15. what are you pulling on the trailer? If the trailer weighs 550 lbs then you can only put 450 lbs of stuff on the trailer. I think your towing limit is 1000lbs. Are you going to permanently mount the hitch? or is this a one time trailer use only. If it is only a one time use, I suggest not using the trailer and using an overhead Yakima or Thule cargo rack. This eliminates the wiring dilemna. If however, your trailerables are say a motorcycle or a jet ski, then you got to really think about this one. Any good trailer hitch shop, boat yard, or even a knowledgable uhaul dealer that installs hitches should be able to help you. again, just my 2¢ steviej
  16. Code P01155 is an Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (BANK 1 SENSOR 1) Simply put: you got a bad or sluggish O2 sensor. Get it replaced ($$). It will effect the air fuel mixture needed. This may aid to your acceleration problem. In the long run it can result in premature cat. converter failure ($$$$). O2 sensors are easy to replace if you know which one. Bank 1 Sensor 1 is the O2 sensor in the manifold that faces the firewall. you can get sensors a little cheaper on the web from places like www.irontoad.com www.lexus-parts.com www.tradenation.com you can contact a member here, JPI, as he distributes parts on this site. you will be able to rent or buy a proper O2 socket from AutoZone. good luck steviej
  17. I totally disagree. I purchased a set of OEM blades from Toyota and they were not the same as the Lexus blades. The Toyota blades were heavier, thicker, and blacker. They constantly made a dry rubber squeak sound with the slightest bit of water. I went to Lexus and bought the blade inserts thinking they would fit the OEM Toyota arm, and they didn't. The arm was the proper length but wider then the Lexus arm, so the inserts were too skinny. I ended up buying new Lexus arms. Now all that I have to do in the future is just but the inserts when needed. I have tried Bosch Micro Edge and even spent the money for PIAA. The Lexus brand blades rank in my book as number one. PIAAs were nice but they didn't last as long as I thought. The silicone that you have to wipe on the window (acts like rainX) also anchors bugs and dirt. More wiper fluid needed to simply clear minimal dirt. I also found that the application of RainX accelerated the degredation of the rubber blade. However, RainX is very swift in its sheeting abilitly. Simple solution is just buy the Lexus inserts from you Lexus dealer. sorry, just my 2¢ steviej
  18. do a search on "clearing corners", this will tell you how to get the headlight off and open it up to clean it out. A good plastic polish is Mequiar's Mirror Glaze system. steviej
  19. Is this really the same? There is no load/friction on the tire/wheel/hub/bearing from the road if the car is on the lift. I think this will help create the noise wherever it is coming from. steviej
  20. I go with the flow of traffic. I average between 65 and 70. I live by the coast, not inland, so there are no major hills or mountains. Any elevation is gradual. my mileage is also above average because I also run a K&N filter and use synthetic oil. That comibnation picked me up 2-4 mpg. steviej
  21. if you are talking about the high mount brake light, then sit in the back seat facing out the rear window. Grasp the covering with two hands, one on each side, and tug firmly towards you horizontaly. It will come, but you have to tug hard. the cover will then pop off and the brake light is exposed. steviej
  22. Piranha may be talking strictly highwaymileage. those numbers are similar to my highway mileage. Around town, I'm getting 22-24 mpg. steviej
  23. a member cannot use the PM function or post in the Buy & Sell Forum until they have a post count over 20. It is to help hinder people that join to spam members via personal messages as well as other venus. as for the rest of the board being flaky, I haven't encountered anything yet....but the day is young. steviej
  24. http://www.irontoad.com they've done pretty well by me. steviej
