  1. The projector headlights look like fisheyes in those housings. The Subaru Outback/Solara fog lights don't go with the curvature of the front. The grille looks like ...................I am at a loss. I just don't like the front. The rest is pretty decent. I guess we have to wait and see what lands on our shores. Steve, I second the steering wheel. Love It!!!!! steviej
  2. did you check your fuses yet? I am not totally sure, but there is a reset button on the CD deck, is there not? steviej
  3. Do you notice a difference in performance between premium and mid-grade? How about fuel economy? right now, only in my head. Absolutely no difference in fuel economy. As for the cleanliness of my throttle body, valves, cylinder head and other internals.......haven't a clue. steviej
  4. I have three torque wrenches. I say yes. It will be of use for more than just the lug nuts. I will list them as soon as i can get them. I am at work at the moment. Sox......same old story. But the trade that is in talks is very interesting. Randy Johnson for Lowe, Youkliss and Nomar. hhhhmmmmm. makes you think. steviej
  5. I put in the premium until the price goes over $2.25. Once over that I drop to the mid level. Right now premium is running $2.19 at Mobil/Exxon, which is where I usually go. steviej
  6. my key has a CR1616 3v lithium battery in it. Dobie, I don't know if the 2002 and 2000 keys are the same. Mine is the fat head key that has the 3 buttons integrated in to it. steviej
  7. you won't have any problem with Mobil 1 5w-30 either. If this becomes a back and forth discussion of synthetic vs. conventional oil again, I will close it and link the traffic back to the most recent thread discussing said matter. steviej
  8. go to Sears. Usually they have a floor jack on sale from time to time that comes with a set of decent quality jack stands. Their prices are usually very good and they have a no questions asked warranty on Craftsman stuff. If you want, I can give you the model numbers of the trio that I have. steviej
  9. go to your local lexus dealer and get the exact part numbers that you need. try: www.irontoad.com www.carsontoyota.com www.lexus-parts.com there was one site called www.newlexusparts.com that had the exploded diagrams and part indicators for viewing but it is now defunct. I think it was under the www.tradenation.com umbrella of websites. steviej
  10. Are you using the Mr. Clean car wash thingie before hand? I have read that the soap that come with it reacts to caruba based waxes and creates cloudy areas in the wax. steviej
  11. have a mechanic ride with you with a scan tool hooked up. Get the engine light to come on and find out what is the problem or sensor tripping the light. Start from there. Find out if it is spark, fuel, air, coolant or tranny related. steviej
  12. doesn't anyone proof read before they hit SEND, anymore???? just kidding with ya, kyle. :chairshot: sj

  14. Alan, it is not nursing the tranny along. It happens so fast that I don't ever see any hesitiation. I have put over 40,000 miles on this car in almost 2 years. It has become commonplace for me. I do all sorts of driving (city, back roads and all out expressway with rapid lane changes, etc.). I don't ever think about it anymore. When and if we meet up, I will demonstrate. I also make it a habit of not getting into hazardous situations. Highly NOT the norm for a Boston driver. Agreed, this tranny is not the one in my SSEi, but the SSEi is not the luxury sedan I drive today. And yes, you are venting. But that is ok. That is one of the reasons for this site. steviej
  15. yes, but it was not on a Lexus. Generally speaking, it can happen. steviej
  16. take your passport or birth certificate as added proof of citizenship. With heightened homeland security, they can deny or delay your re-entry to the US if you only have your driver's lisence. steviej
  17. I have an 02 as well.. what is it you do to accelerate the car and not achieve hesitation?? When the vehicle is in motion, don't push the throttle past 3/4. Meaning don't stomp it. Press on the throttle quickly to get it to downshift one gear. Once in that gear, depress a little further to go to the next gear if more RPM is needed. Feel the tranny in your foot not your ears. If you stomp on it, the tranny tends to go one gear past what you want. My description seems like this procedure drags on for seconds, but in actuallity is does not. It is hard to describe, it is easy to show someone while doing it. Don't get me wrong, I can make it hesitate if I want to. steviej
  18. It is the second forum under the Lexus Maintenance section. steviej
  19. Very cool video. the test was missing one thing to would have made it more realistic. If you have ever been close to a natural lighting strike, or had the pleasure of sitting in a car or a house that has been hit, you will agree it is usually accompanied by a very very VERY loud crack of THUNDER!!! that is the scarry stuff. steviej
  20. case of Sam Adams for when you are done. $19.99. :D :P jsut kidding on the beer thing. Good luck to you. Keep detailed notes. Maybe when you are done, you could right it up and put it in the workshop tutorial section. steviej
  21. another possibility is if the sensor is a float type sensor, then the sensor itself may have been installed in upside down. The wiring is correct, but the orientation of the float is wrong. When the tank is empty the float is hanging all the way down and not making electrical contact to light the empty light. When fluid is added the float is forced upward and the electrical contact is made, thus lighting the empty indicator light. just a thought. steviej
  22. the OEM ones that were shipped with my 02 were McGard. slate, if you have the lock code, just order extra lock lugs from McGard directly. I always order an extra key as well as an extra locking lug. McGard makes them for all applications and the base of my set are identical to the Lexus lugs. If you don't have the code, you can just get a whole new set and start fresh. They are not that expensive. A quick fix it to clean it well with laquer thinner then apply a coat of clear coat with a model paintbruch or Q-tip. Another solution is clear nail polish. Neither item will remain if you have to use the key lug, but for the time being it will limit that rusting that is going on now. steviej
