  1. My God, how old are you, 90?😏
  2. Did you check for a vacuum leak? By the way, I believe our Lexus required a sparkplug change at 120,000 miles so it doesn't surprise me that your friend's plugs looked fine. I agree with Trevor that duplicating the issue is a great first step. That way you can poke around the engine bay while the rough idling is active.
  3. Also, if could get someone in a western state like California or Arizona get one from a scrapyard and ship it to you, that should save you money.
  4. Could you have someone gently push down on the panel while you activate the switch? If it works, try repeating multiple times. Moonroofs tend to seize over years of non-usage. My daughter's 2002 Protege moonroof would not work at all after 10 years of non-use. And since I sold her car in 2018 for $1700, the new owner wasn't concerned.
  5. There are so many, I can't count them! The closest and one of the largest may be Ballast Point. It's less than 15 minutes from here. Homepage - Ballast Point Brewing Also close by is a distillery: Welcome To Cutwater - Cutwater Spirits I've been on tours of each of these with the local SME organization. We are also 45 minutes-drive from wine country.
  6. And I thought it was expensive here in California!😃
  7. Have you checked the temperature sensor that switches power to the fan?
  8. I would take it to an Auto Electric shop. They solve tricky drain issues (and very quickly) that dealerships cannot. Here's an example of a shop that is close to my area of town: Welcome to Pacific Auto Electric | Best Car Repair Shop | Poway If you can find a place like this, It's likely they'll be reasonable about cost compared to a dealership.
  9. Side note: Of the thousands of data points from RX owner's surveys, there is no indication of brake or electronics failures related to brakes, as per Consumer Reports. In fact, none of the 17 categories listed show anything below a "better than average" rating. These ratings are pulled from CR's 2021 buying guide. It seems a bit odd that almost everyone who posted here has never posted anything else. I'm seeing a pattern here that doesn't add up.
  10. The sidewalls of runflat tires have to be much stiffer to allow the tires to be able to have zero air pressure and continue to rotate without safety issues. That extra stiffness is what "sharpens" the steering response.
  11. When my OEM run-flat tires wore out on my 2001 Corvette, I switched over to non-run-flat tires. The ride was smoother but steering response was not as sharp. To me it doesn't make sense to swap out new tires but when it's time to replace them, non-runflats tend to be less costly. I did add a small compressor, flat repair kit, pliers, and a mat, just in case a flat tire occurred. Some people keep a can of tire sealant in their trunk, also.
  12. I'd be very surprised if you could tow it without a trailer. I am curious as to whether you would be able to easily connect and reconnect the drive shaft. Hopefully, someone here has successfully done this.
  13. Let's see if someone who has your model and who has successfully used either program, chimes in. I am a bit baffled why Lexus/Toyota integrated Apple only in 2020. It's not like 90% of cell phones in the US are Apple. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 because its stylus is so useful. It can: 1. Remotely take photos and videos at up to 30 feet away. 2. Write notes on photos with pressure sensitivity. 3. Translate text from many different languages to english, even that which is embedded in photos. 4. Zoom very small text that cannot be expanded with fingers on screen. 5. Control Powerpoint slides.
  14. You're welcome, Dan.👍
  15. Amazon's Alexa Isn't So Simple in a Car - Consumer Reports Is there a reason why you don't use Android Auto?
  16. This should be the correct one, according to this site: 2005 Lexus LS430 Parts - LexusPartsNow.com
  17. The upcoming Lotus Emira, McLaren 570S Spider, Mazda MX5, sparkling red wine, lobster ravioli, hot air balloon rides, helping kids to learn math and english......I could go on and on. Trevor, based upon the part of the world you live in, it doesn't surprise me that you like beer. (although probably not Guiness Stout, eh?) 😃 I do enjoy an occasional draft from one of many breweries in this area.
  18. You should try this for a month: Terra Kai USDA Organic Juce Super Fruit & Veggie Powder, 12.2 Ounces | Costco
  19. You should be glad you don't live in Los Angeles where gas is up near $7.00/gallon.😏 Here in San Diego, it's a bit lower but still higher than in your area.
  20. Les, have you tried searching for owner's manuals, online? Also, have you done any calculations to justify swapping your RX for a new hybrid version? How about a used RX450h? The hybrid averages 29 MPG vs. 22 for your RX. Whether an update makes sense would be determined by your driving schedule.
  21. The fuel pump could be bad. Having the fuel pressure checked with a fuel pressure gauge T'ed into the fuel line may be necessary.
  22. I would have the fuel pressure checked as a first step.
  23. If you can find one at an auto scrap yard, you can have it/them epoxy powder-coated. That should extend its life quite a bit. Many years ago, iron fences were simply painted. Now they are powder-coated and last much longer.
