  1. You will need to change the software on the navigation unit for it to work with discs from another country as it will not read an Asia disc as is. And the warranty only applies for North America, so you will have no warranty coverage for the car in Asia.
  2. Maintaining your vehicle properly would save you the most fuel. Check and change your plugs, filters, etc when necessary. Spending $800-$1000 for a possible 1-2 mpg gain is not economically feasible. And @ monstro: people may take you seriously about the tornado! :P
  3. If you upgrade to the latest navigation dvd, version 7.1, the "I Agree" screen is replaced with instead a warning screen that appears for 5-10 seconds. Unfortunately, that version no longer gives access to the override menu that would enable you to enter addresses while in motion. This was last available in version 5.1. You would have to perform a series of button presses each time you started the car to allow input while in motion.
  4. Hmmm, this is for the 330, but should be the same for the 350! RX330.pdf
  5. Perhaps you don't have the correct region of the US selected? If you are in the incorrect region, only major streets and interstates would show up and perhaps looks like that. Make sure the region you select is for the west coast area.
  6. The navigation drive is located in your trunk area.
  7. NAPA, autozone, etc any auto parts store please don't cut any fuses down to make them "fit" for safety's sake
  8. Nice comparing a vacation house to a primary residence. Any stats for Bush's primary residence in Texas?
  9. It's not like his "home" is a small apartment or even a regular sized home. He has a large estate that needs more energy to run than the "average" home. It's not like he's leaving the lights on when he leaves the house or something. I'm sure he is a responsible steward for the energy he uses.
  10. Post a pic and we can tell you if the disc is OEM or not. To update the system, simply remove the original navigation disc and then insert the new navigation disc (of course the electrical power has to be on). Then wait a few minutes and the progress bar updates and then you will be done. Nothing really for you to do other than to watch. Remember that the dvd has to go in to the navigation drive and not the cd/dvd changer for the audio system!
  11. don't you love it when they try to make up explanations for problems with the car? Glad to hear that it's covered under warranty. Let us know which part they replace. Maybe it's the bluetooth module itself?
  12. You can use a hybrid 7.1/5.1 navigation disc to allow access to the override menu to allow input destination while in motion. Search for a thread here with more info on how to make the disc. You can also contact me (pm or email) with any questions.
  13. Civilian navs will always be a bit off. 500' does seem a bit much though. I think the norm is around 40-50'.
  14. Try pulling the fuse for the navigation system.
  15. Definitely Luxury-Sport and not Sport
  16. Mark your old filter with a sharpie before bringing it in if you don't do the work yourself.
  17. First service is included with the purchase of the car. Take it in!
  18. Look at the options menu under the contact, and there should be a choice about a "card". That's what you want. Sorry, wasn't my phone, so I can't look at it now. My LG Chocolate does not transfer phone contacts (or put correctly, Verizon has disabled that feature....).
  19. A run-flat tire is specially designed to allow you to continue use of the tire after it has been punctured, for up to 50 miles at 50mph. You will get a low tire pressure warning light appear in the dash while you're driving which should clue you as to a possible puncture. Once punctured, the tire must be replaced, and if you have an all-wheel drive system, you would have to replace all 4 tires if the depth of the tire treads would be different between the old and new tires. Upgrading to the 7.1 version will get rid of the I Agree nag screen at startup for the generation 5 navigation system.
  20. Had good service at the one in queens, though they did damage a small plastic part of the dash during the TSB warranty work. Great purchase experience at Prestige Lexus in NJ. F&I guy was a little pushy, but overall great price. They are part of the Costco network of dealers. They have a no haggle price on the car, and it was lower than Edmunds.com TMV price. Send me a pm if you want the name of the salesman that worked with us.
  21. what are the offsets of the bmw wheels and the IS wheels? bolt pattern?
  22. With a Samsung phone through Verizon, I had to send the entire contact list to the 2006 GS300 nav/phone system. You need to access the phone's contact list and send the "card" info for each of the contacts to the car when the nav system is waiting for the phone book. Other's were only successful sending one contact at a time. Go figure.
  23. Dash rattles are a well known problem, so much so, that the dealerships have TSB's on how to take care of them. It sounds like you may have some blown speakers. Let them take care of it, and they should give you a loaner while the car is being repaired. Describe the problems as accurately as you can, especially on how they can reproduce the problems. You may have to return the car for a second or even third time to fully repair the rattles.
