  1. You do not drive the car sufficiently long enough to allow the alternator to recharge the battery. It is usually recharged at highway speeds.
  2. Turn the steering wheel (more like jiggle it one way or the other) as you try and turn the key. Sounds like the steering wheel is locked out, which prevents the key from turning around.
  3. Yes but you will have to either get a 5.1 navigation disc or create your own hybrid navigation disc (7.1/5.1). The code should be the same as for the RX330. sorry don't know them off the top of my head, but they are posted here numerous times.
  4. What car did the disc work on? Or list the part number form the disc, and we can decode the generation from that. Your lexus has a generation 2/3 system. Newer generations are gen4 and gen5.
  5. You'll need to check to see if the disc is for your generation navigation system. You have a generation 2/3 system. What vehicle does you friend have or from what vehicle was the new disc pulled from?
  6. A hold of perhaps 2 seconds to start and a press once for on and twice for ACC might be something more desirable.
  7. Well all they have are accusations and allegations, but without any proof I would imagine that the arbitrator would see that they are pulling at straws. BTW, who is the third party arbitrator?
  8. You can install the disc yourself. The disc is located behind the headunit. Flip down the screen and replace the navigation disc.
  9. You should try sending a selection of the contacts only if you are trying to send the entire phonebook or vice versa. I guess due to dissimilar bluetooth standards, I was only able to transfer the entire phonebook and not selected entries only. Perhaps yours is the other way around?
  10. When they said soft volume button, they meant the volume button on the screen and not the physical volume button along the sides. With a 2007 GX, you will need to get an older 5.1 nav disc or create a hybrid 7.1/5.1 disc to allow you access to this override menu as the version you currently have installed will not allow it.
  11. His issue was caused by a malfunctioning third party device he had installed.
  12. Don't ask to see it. You will either be very sad or very angry. The gen 5 systems have a higher resolution screen, hence the better graphics.
  13. The catalytic converter doesn't have a lot of platinum/paladium, but rather the price for these metals is astronomically high now along with the other commodities. Spot prices for July: Paladium: $389 Platinum: $1731 Remember, we are talking per ounce and not per pound!
  14. I would send the letter to Lexus corporate instead if you feel strongly about the matter (which you seem to do by the length of the letter).
  15. If it was a one owner car, try and ask the owner for some more details. Of course a closer visual inspection of that area is warranted. Carfax should never be a deal-maker or deal-breaker. Carfax doesn't list all accidents/damage as it only shows what has been REPORTED. So a car can have a clean carfax and could have been in a severe accident. Just use it as one more tool when used-car shopping. It could have been a minor fender bender.. Check for paint overspray for the extent of the repair and definitely check the seam gaps to make sure they are consistent throughout.
  16. No need for you to update just yet. You are running the latest version now.
  17. 2) Did you purchase the bluetooth option with the vehicle? There should be a phonebook option if you did.
  18. Your insurance will cover it. You may even have a zero deductible for glass work. Rain sensing wipers may need special glass, if you have that feature. Unfortunately the Lexus warranty does not cover this type of situation.
  19. Yes you will lose the override with the latest version, 7.1. It is a feature of the navigation software, which is updated with each new disc.
  20. The maintenance required light is more a general reminder that your service interval is soon approaching / has gone by. You will most likely just need to reset it if you have done the recommended maintenance yourself, or did the work at an indy that didn't reset the light. I think you may be confusing that light with the Check Engine Light (CEL) that has codes associated with the error causing the problem. You would need an OBD II device to read those codes, or head to AZ as suggested above. The steps to reset the service reminder light should be in your manual, or can be found on this forum.
  21. Yup looks like the car has been dealer maintained since new. Nothing worrying in that report!
  22. Unfortunately the 7.1/5.1 hybrid disc will not work in a generation 4 system! the gen 5 and gen 2/3 systems can work with this disc. I have read in another thread that a gen 4 user was successful with a 7.1/4.1 disc, but it was created differently than this method (ie the loading.kwi isn't the only file changed).
  23. You can create a special disc and replace the newer navigation software with the 5.1 loading software (the last version where the override menu was available), which would then let you retain the override menu with the latest map data (ie a 7.1/5.1 disc).
  24. It's a dvd. You may want to search on ebay or craigslist.
