  1. wow, hope you don't end up like this: http://www.ocala.com/article/20080204/BREA..._NEWS/261837791 http://www.ocala.com/article/20080315/NEWS...&source=RSS http://www.motorauthority.com/news/news/fi...n-bmw-m5-crash/ Have you checked your fluids lately? Coolant, engine oil, brake fluid, transmission oil, etc?
  2. Might want to check octane ratings around you as some states have some mid grade gasoline that is not premium but above the necessary rating recommended for your car. The difference between regular and premium isn't that great per fill up. Extracting that over a year, the difference isn't really worth the decreased engine performance / worse gas mileage. There are better ways to save money.
  3. I would take it to a paintless dent removal shop. Some regular body shops also employ this technique. Look up some numbers in the yellow pages and give them a call. Usually runs $80-$150 a panel depending on how difficult it is to pop out the dent. It's good there's no crease.
  4. Depends on what version navigation software you are running. 5.1? 6.1? 7.1? etc. Post and then we'll let you know if it's possible.
  5. Does anyone know how to activate the turn-by-turn guidance in a 2004 ES330? My friend says that when you starts the navigation guidance, the route he is supposed to travel shows up red, but there is no voice guidance. Only at the end of the journey does it say anything (you have reached your destination). Is there a settings menu or a volume menu he should go to?
  6. Sorry about that. I always tell me dad not to spill in the car, but he never listens! :D
  7. There are multiple settings you can have set for you at the dealership with the complimentary Lexus owners setting. It should be mentioned in the manual. This option was standard on the GS, which allows the sunroof to be opened with the rest of the windows. There is a limited time with which you have to schedule the appointment, which is I think a year.
  8. I wouldn't recommend the split boot since dirt/rocks/debris has already entered the torn cv boot. If you simply cover the torn boot without cleaning out the old grease and packing fresh, clean grease, the contaminants will wear your cv joint, and you will hear clicking pretty soon and then have to replace the entire cv joint.
  9. Yeah, I highly doubt the Lexus dealership does their own body work. All the NY dealers send their body work out of shop. Try to find out from the salesman which bodyshop they send their cars to and go there directly to get the best price.
  10. The coolant system is a sealed system so you will not have have the coolant just evaporate. You'll want to look out for white residue around the engine bay and under it as well as that is the tell-tale sign of a coolant leak.
  11. cenwesi, I sent you an email about the gen2/3 navigation disc in case you're interested in it. Cheers.
  12. Did they replace the timing belt as well since they replaced the tensioner while they were in there?
  13. Yes, they use the same DVD if they are the same generation navigation system
  14. Use the octane rating that is recommended by Lexus for your car. Otherwise, the engine will impede it's timing to deal with the earlier detonation of lower rated gasoline and lower engine performance and economy.
  15. Nice. I like to take care of the car when I can as well. Saves money and strangely gives me sense of satisfaction.! Remember to hold onto your receipts for the oil and filter, and I would recommend putting them into some sort of maintenance folder with all your repair invoices and receipts should a warranty need arise later.
  16. Don't have to really rent it. Just drive there and ask them to scan your car, and they do it for free right then and there. They will even give you a printout with the codes and possible causes as well.
  17. What are you using the numbers for? Buying or selling? Edmunds says their prices reflect actual prices that people are paying for cars based on the geographic area. KBB on the other hand is the ASKING price of dealers for used cars.
  18. Does it not retract only or does it not come out as well? If it does neither, then you will have to replace the belt tensioner as it has gone off (perhaps during hard braking).
  19. It's the same procedure as duckman said. You will scroll through the different scenarios. The one you want is to have all doors open when you touch any door.
  20. Um, a driveway at someone's house is PRIVATE property. I would ask for a refund for those classes you took! And you need to come to a complete stop. Meaning you have to fall back into your seat after forward momentum ends, or else it's a rolling stop and not a complete stop. No set time minimum. And yes, it's up to the judge to believe who's telling the truth in this situation if the cop shows up. Good luck.
  21. If you're taking it in LA, good luck, cause you'll need it. :P Perhaps schedule it at another county if possible. Do you have a navigation system?
  22. Some more detail, the 7.1 disc updates the entire provinces of Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia. There are major changes to Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfouland & Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan and Yukon. Details for Alberta: -Rebuilt 4 interchanges on Hwy2 in Calgary area - Realigned 2 interchanges of TCH west of Calgary construction of Hwy 43 from Gunn to Glenevis & Greencourt to Fox Creek (Lao Ste Anna) - Added 25,114 addresses and 1,180 miles of street
  23. Hello, There is only one disc for North America, which covers both the United States and Canada. The reason you have only limited coverage in Canada is that you have an older version of the disc which did not have coverage of much of Canada. With the new release of the latest Lexus navigation DVD, all of Canada is covered.
  24. Yes the OEM disc cost around $299 on ebay and little more MSRP i think. If you ask the dealer to install it, they will charge a high "labor" charge to install the dvd. Takes up to 5 minutes depending where you navigation drive is located.
