  1. I am having this same problem. Does anyone have any idea what it may be? I get a code 71. I plan on changing the plugs/wires and distributor cap.
  2. Where is this filter located at? I am getting code 71, and do like to give it a try.
  3. After it rains, the car is hard to start. It idles really rough and if it does drive, It stumbles really hard. Sounds like a diesel. Sometimes, it idles so bad that it doesn't even start. When the weather clears up and/or warms up. It starts with ease. Please help.
  4. My 91 LS400 is not starting, usually, when it's cold. It idles rough sometimes when I start it up. Sometimes the idle clears up, other times, it doesn't but will start up smooth if I leave it and try another time. The last time I started it, it was idling very rough and I just had the feeling it will not clear up, so I let it be. But since then, when I try to start it, it acts like it's about to start up, the rpm goes up and then drops to 0 and it shuts off. It doesn't even run for a second or 2 before cutting off. Any ideas what the deal is? :(
  5. We look forward to you joining the family. I grew up around 3 pointed stars, and longed for one for quite a while. I fell in love when the 97 E420's came out and the with the mid 90's S class. But no matter how much I looked at them, there was always some dobut about quality, they just didn't feel like the did back in the days. The benz of the 80's are just rock solid. I still grin whenever I see one and peep inside the interior. RUGGED LUXURY. I kept convincing myself not to until I mistakenly bought a BMW, very fun, but lacking the reliability that I dreamt off, so I had to get another decent luxury car that had quality, kept eyes out for old benz 300E actually, until I ran into the LS400, and Wooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
  6. okay, i judged too fast. no one with snow tires complained, whereas those without snow tires had mixed feelings. i just took out my tires and mounted some blizzaks. WOOOOO!!! Wooooooo! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! need i say more?
  7. I just drove the LS on snow, and did a 360 on the freeway, going straight, couldn't control it for s**t, was going around 30mph. I have never spun out on a FWD. It was sad seeing econobox of FWD cars doing like 60mph while I was crawling at 20mph. I am benching the LS for the rest of the season, I got it cuz I didn't want to drive the bimmer during the winter, but it's not a performer.
  8. I got an LS400 but I don't have an owner's manual, I need to acquire one. Before I do, is it available anywhere in digital (ie, pdf) format? To the main question. What does the orange warning lamp under the speedometer, just under 160 mean? It is orange looks like the oil warning sign, except that it has a zigzag pattern under it. Mine has been coming on lately, it comes on when I am speeding and doing around 80-90, when I drop off to around 70, it goes away. It has never stayed. I live in Michigan, it just got very cold out here. My best guess is that it is coolant warning, is it? please help, and confirm. thanks.
  9. Because V12 doesn't really give any advantage over V8. Look at BMW and Jaguar. The V12 BMW is not that faster than the v8 BMW and same for Jaguar. Sure, it is a little more smoother, but gas mileage is worst. It just sounds/seems cool, that's all.
  10. oh yes! a pearl white will be great. but the deal was good so i ran with it. i am happy with white, silver, and black.
  11. I just bought a 1991 LS 400 with 163k miles yesterday for $2500. Everything works, needs nothing that I can tell so far. The guy that owned it loved the car so much but is moving to Florida in a few days. My main baby is a BMW 740i, and I was looking for something nice that I can drive around during the winter, my eyez was on a Benz 300E or something like that, since the Lexus cars tend to be very highly priced due to their reliabiity. I have always wished for one, cuz I know they are reliable, and have kept my eyes out for the rare 1st gen GS, but I ended up with the LS, and can't complain. He replaced the headunit with 2nd gen headunit and added a 6CD changer and a new subwoofer. It drives nice, the quietness is nicer than my BMW 740i, that's for sure. But frankly, when I drive the BMW, I do it for the driving, I throw it around like the "sports" car that it is. :D So is $2500 a good deal? The guy was asking $3500.
  12. I am very surprised that you guys don't think that it can got that fast. I am going to have find out. I just bought my LS400 less than 24hrs ago. Was looking for a winter beater and love my BMW 740i too much to drive it in the snow. I think the LS400 can get to 150mph feels like it. :D
