I don't think there's an option in my vehicle settings for the wheel, but the dealer can shut it off for sure. Thats one my my favorite features as well, any particular reason you don't like it?

It doesn't have a sunglass holder? Really? I never noticed that in the RX's I drove. My ES has the SOS button and a sunglass holder. Thats going to be an impossible retrofit. I'd suggest LEXI's suggestion...

No, the seat does not move in the manner you describe, just the steering wheel.

You're right, the clocks in all Lexus vehicles are still basic digital clocks that need to be reset for DST. Seriously though...whats the BFD? Its a clock. You press a button for 15 seconds and its set. You have to do that once per year. The other time you push the little hour button once. Of all the things that could possibly be a major issue with a vehicle...that would be incredibly short on my list. The HS has all kinds of awesome tech, and what stirs your tea is the fact that you have to manually set the clock? Come on... Its not automated because its just a clock, it doesn't know what date it is.

Check the PS fluid level... Could be a bad pump...

Yeah...pretty obvious if its a compact spare. Kind of like buying a red shirt and asking if it was green or red... Lexus is one of the last companies left that offers a full sized spare. Huge wheels and tires and de-contenting have brought back the compact spare.

That can be part of it, but in my experience a lot of it is what the poster's above are experiencing, the dealers and mechanics just plain not knowing what Lexus recommends...

If the system monitors the spare, then there should be absolutely no programming needed if you run the spare as a new wheel on the car. If not, then it will have to be re-initialized and the dealer's gonna charge you for that...

Thats a bummer... Oh well...at least the upgrade is only $199...$100 less than the old DVDs...

Dealers and mechanics always over-inflate the tires. Lexus has stamped 30PSI on the doorjamb, and that is the tire pressure recommended by the manufacturer, regardless of what any dealer or mechanic may say to you. You can custom set the TPMS to any pressure you want using the reset button under the dash. Lexus wrote the manual and the sticker on the doorjamb, if a dealer service tech tells you the tires "have to be at 36 PSI as per Lexus" he is wrong. I run mine at 30, because I want the smoothest ride possible even at the expense of treadlife. Higher PSIs will get you better treadwear probably, but with a firmer ride.

You can't, you can only record CDs into the system. Even if you could, Apple wouldn't allow it for copyright reasons.

All the more reasons not to spend $23,000 needlessly when you are without income. The LS is a great car...but eating, heat, and shelter are great things too...

The updates come out every October, so the one thats out right now is the latest one...

I think the idea is to initialize the TPMS sensor on the spare. Does anybody know if the TPMS system also monitors the spare?

$33,000 for a 2008? I paid $36.000 for my brand new 2010. I wouldn't pay anything with a "3" in front of it for that car...

Whats funny is this is exactly what I and others tried to tell you a couple years ago when you were on here raising hell and being all cocky, that when you have responsibilities in life...a car...however much cars may mean to you...is not nearly as important a focus as it is when you're a kid. I told you one day you would understand, and now you do. ~Sniff~...they grow up so fast... :cries: You've grown up a lot over the last couple years...I mean that as a compliment.

I was looking around on Sewell's site www.sewellparts.com, don't see the update for the HDD cars...maybe you can't order it online... I did get a letter from Lexus included in my LFS statement last month offering the update for $199.

First of all, you have to understand how airbags work. Airbags are SUPPLEMENTAL restraints, the seatbelts are the primary restraints. See the "SRS" on the bag covers? That stands for "Supplemental Restraint System". The seatbelt locks are the same thing. Airbags are very violent things and can cause a great deal of injury themselves. The systems are designed to be used only when the crash forces are such that they will help more than they hurt. It is entirely possible, and likely that you could be in an accident, have no airbags deploy, and have the system operating properly. By the virtue of the fact that you are here and alive, I bet the system operated fine and the crash forces were such that deployment of the bags and seatbelt tensioners wasn't necessary.

Life has a way of doing that ;)
