  1. Woah Chris, you gotta calm down and quit jumping the gun man. I answered bbsal's question, closed his thread and then moved the original thread back out after cleaning it up. I closed bbsal's thread so that further discussion about the topic (Old vs New) wouldn't get seperated between the two threads. It had nothing to do with our disagreement.... My job as a moderator is to facillitate discussion, and to make sure that it goes smoothly. It DOES entail organization of information, so that when members use the search down the line all the information is together. This is the ES300 forum, its for ES300 related information. Bbsal's post was a continuation of the previous discussion since the other thread had dissapeared. Since I brought the original thread back out, there was no need for his thread too. Two threads about the same thing wastes time and space, and niether of ours are free. I'm sorry if you dont agree with that, but these are moderated forums. We're lax in what we do, we dont impose a lot of rules on people, but part of my job is to help discussion go smoothly. Now, this thread does not belong in the ES300 forum, I'm going to move it to the feedback forum. In the future, if you have a problem with the way I moderate, send me a PM and we can discuss it privately. Take a deep breath before you fly off the handle man.
  2. See? Preach it my brother! :snoooorrrtttt:
  3. Did you apply it over the Sealant Glaze #2? Thats why it faded away. A Polymer sealant must bond to a CLEAN surface, there can't be any oils or fillers on the paint or it just wont bond. You can use the glaze then the wax just fine, but you can't glaze then seal. You'll have to switch to a polish without fillers, or dawn wash again before you do the EX. Poorboys makes a great polish in their line that you can use and then just go straight to the EX. The EX lasts indefinately on mine, I've never had it degrade. Its got to be your application.
  4. Well actually, if the ECU is designed to run on regular, and you run premium you're causing as many problems as if its designed to run premium and you run regular. The timing and combustion is set for one grade of gasoline, use what it says to use, no more, no less. High test in a regular motor causes pinging, carbon deposits, and robbed fuel mileage too. Thats part of what I've been saying about the 94, its above what the car is designed to use, so anything else just gets burned off and wasted.
  5. Glad it worked out for you.
  6. Open and ready for business...
  7. Chris and I got a little carried away last night LOL. We decided amongst ourselves that I should delete our childish bickering and reset the thread to the way it was before we started. You'll find it further down in the forum list, restored to where you saw it last.
  8. Blk on Blk, Well the 93 doesn't have a VSC light, you mean the TRAC light? My guess is there's something wrong with one of the yaw sensors for the VSC. The lights stay on when you restart the engine?
  9. Well there ya go then ;)
  10. There ya go, thats not really a sealant like we're talking about, its more of a glaze. A glaze is pure oil, it makes that depth and fills in the scratches, but it washes off with the first rain. Glazes are sort of like the "fix all" for paint finishes. New and used cars a re glazed before they're sold so they look good to the buyer, but that quickly fades and shows the true condition of the paint. Pure polish, topped with a real sealant like Poorboys, Klasse etc, topped with a pure carnuaba wax will yield a similar finish that will last. The #2 isnt meant to be a final topper, it doesnt have a lot of protection.
  11. I did a quick search for it and it proved what I was afraid of. A lot of the claims that these people make are.....less than acurate. Be weary of claims like "never needs waxing", "new proprietary automotive technology" when they dont tell you what that is. All it is a Polymer Sealant like Poorboys EX, Klasse, Zaino, Blackfire, Platinum. Thats the list of their "procedure" Well, you can do all of these things easily at home, I do this to my car every 3 months or so and it takes me 3 hours and costs me nothing. These "paint protection systems" are pure profit.
  12. Is Diamond Gloss one of those "paint protection" systems that dealers put on the car? You said it was applied by a store? Basically all they are is a sealant like the Poorboy's EX or many others. They're charging you an insane charge for something you can do yourself in 30 minutes. A sealant isn't going to guard you against swirl marks because they're put in the paint by improper washing, drying, waxing. They're scratches and the only way to really remove them is with an abrasive cleaner. You can fill them in, but that doesn't last.
  13. What sealant do you use?
  14. Jeff, Whatever information that Tom gives you is good information, he's a real good guy. We haven't heard any concrete pricing details from Lexus, so its possible the price increase may not be as substantial as we'd thought. Glad you like the car!
  15. Sealants and waxes do the same thing, they protect the finish. Sealants just last a lot longer, and on the white you wont notice the difference. Polishing smooths out the paint, adds oild. I got the site address wrong for Poorboys, sorry. Its www.poorboysworld.com
  16. Thats $39 a year, I'd rather go out and buy a couple new CDs ;)
  17. I've never even heard of Arco lol. Here we have "Lowest Price" as our ghetto gas.
  18. I'm actually going to suggest that you pass on the extended warranty. My dad has a 98 with 140,000 miles on it and has never had anything go wrong with it that a warranty would have covered. If you can find someone to give you a warranty at that mileage, its gonna cost you big time. I really dont think you'd get your money's worth out of it.
  19. Sway bars are connected to the underside of the front end, they help provide regidity when making turns. And yes, oil does foam ;)
  20. I've been told that it works eventually, you have to use it several times, but I wouldnt try it.
  21. Thousands and thousands of dollars. They could probably retrofit an aftermarket system in that tray where the OEM one is for FAR less.
  22. I believe in fairness, and everyone's right to a chance. We believe in the same thing Todd. Except that most women can't drive ;)
