  1. Thats true of any coastal vacation sort of town. We spend a lot of time in Ocean City, MD every summer and know a lot of people that live there year round, they hate the summer because of all the highschool kids that come down and rent places 15-20 to a room and just trash the whole town. My fiance's father lives in Brick, NJ and its the same deal there. They love it in the offseason but hate the summer.
  2. We should lol "Now introducting the LOC Car Ratings Guide! For times when you're just not interested in unbiased information!"
  3. I reccomend Clay Magic, you can get it at PepBoys or online from www.properautocare.com
  4. I have no idea, I'll find out ;)
  5. I've not noticed that at all, I find the vast majority of the dealers here extremely courteous and customer oriented, almost all the dealers here now are Elite of Lexus dealers. May not have been the case back then though, who knows. My experience with Lexus starts in 1998. I don't find Infiniti has anywhere near the customer centered attitude of the Lexus dealers. And in all actuality, Lexuses aren't that expensive at all when compared to the competition...
  6. It should be in the trunk, to remove it the case around the unit pops off and the DVD ejects.
  7. I would contact your Lexus dealer and see if they can reset the mileage as the seller suggested in the ad.
  8. Looks brand new! Great work. I enlarged the half and half pic of the hood for you. As for the Collinite, no disrespect intended to the Collinite or any of its users, Collinite will always go on my car in November for the winter, but it will always come off in the spring for what are IMHO better looking products. Collinite is very durable and gives a good shine, but there are MANY products, including the Meguiars NXT he used here that are far better looking than Collinite, especially on that black. In my opinion Colinites real draw is its durability, there are many slicker, shinyer, and deeper looking products out there both natural and synthetic. There are also one paste wax from Meguiars, #16, that has the longevity of the Collinite with a much deeper look that I may try soon. Of course the look of the Collinite is going to be more of an issue on a black car or other dark color than on white. I use the Collinite year round on my Explorer because it lasts and its white. Don't be swayed by the opinions of others, try out the products you're interested in and make your own conclusions, thats part of why detailing is such a great hobby ;) The NXT gives a great look and awesome slickness but in my initial testing its not lasting as long for me as I'd hoped, I'm only getting about 3 weeks. I'm going to be using just QEW on the car now instead of using the touchless wash and see if that makes a difference. Poorboys EX is another great product that gives a great shine and lasts pretty well, I get 2 months or so with it. My Collinite was 100% gone in about 2 3/4 months for comparison. Of course I wax so much durability isn't an issue until the winter when I can't wax because of the temperatures. Theres another new paint sealant on the market called Wolfgang that I'm going to be trying soon. Basically when the car is prepped well and well cared for, it doesn't really matter what you use as your last step product, its going to look great regardless.
  9. And that difference makes sense when realizing that the GS STARTS $10,000 more than the Maxima sits fully loaded... Just totally different cars.
  10. No doubt Chrysler is making some really good looking cars the Pacifica, the Crossfire and now the 300C but the fact still remains, its a Chrysler. I've driven the Crossfire and the Pacifica and the quality is just not there in the execution, its nothing like driving a Lexus.
  11. The lenses should be the same, but I'd definately try cleaning the ones you have first.
  12. Oh yes, there are literally hundreds of shades of white ;) And even when you have the right shade, like any other paint every batch is a little bit different. People who are really good mix their own paint so it matches perfectly.
  13. You should try some metal polish on those lights, they can probably be restored to like new.
  14. Nope, the DVD updates don't have a lot of profit on them and $250 is about the best deal you can get. Sometimes they pop up on ebay and can be had for less, and I suspect these are stolen. As for the instructions, theres a whole manual that comes with the car, its like 250 pages. You can order a new one for free by registering at www.lexus.com Welcome to the club!
  15. Just because a car is one of Car and Driver's 10 best doesn't speak anything about its quality or its reliability. The 10 Best is basically an award saying "We like this car!" thats really meaningless as its based completely on subjective findings like styling, road manners etc. Awards from sources like JD Power and Consumer Reports that carry the real weight because they're OBJECTIVE and are based on the experiences of real owners over the long term. Audi has NEVER won a quality award from any source, Lexus has won at least one category (usually more or all) since its inception in 1990. Aside from the cars, owning an Audi is just nothing like owning a Lexus. The dealerships aren't nearly as nice, nor are the people, and the service isn't nearly as good. A lexus dealer is like a country club, not true for Audis. Audi is a good car, but I wouldn't drive one. If one day I woke up yearning for sport I'd look towards a BMW, for luxury I'd look towards Lexus.
  16. Yeah if JPI can do the service definately go with him as opposed to the dealer!
  17. Run a search in here for thje Autosharp pen ;)
  18. Any paste metal polish will work.
  19. Well thats not exactly true lol. The bumper isn't foam, its a polyurethane cover around a foam core, bumpers can be replaced easily with perfect fit. As a matter of fact bumper replacement is one of the easiest bits of bodywork to do. $850 sounds about right, painted.
  20. It might, I don't know without seeing the full recall. Its still not difficult, just takes 15 minutes of direct concentration which not everyone is willing to give.
  21. UCF- My parents have an FX35 and they love it, its a very cool car. I think Infiniti is really coming out with some nice machines. I agree with you about Audi, they're great cars. The reliability though still isn't there, thats apparent in all the latest dependability studies that place Audi near the bottom. One of the main pitfalls of an Audi is they require very expensive diagnostic equipment to service, more expensive then even BMW. No question I'd buy an Audi before a Mercedes, but not before a Lexus. SRK- No problem, matter forgotten in my book ;)
  22. There are THOUSANDS of fake speedometer shots like that showing speeds. Why do people do anything dumb that they do? ;)
  23. Alan- I just re-read the TSB and you're 100% right, the adjustment is made at the tie rod ends. I was skimming over it last night and I must have misread it.
  24. Griots pads aren't great, I use Lake Country pads that can be purchased from www.properautocare.com
  25. Well the LS gauges are normal analog not electronic, they're just constantly backlit. I can believe that it was taken at 150MPH, the LS is very smooth all the way to the limiter. However I can also believe its a fake, his grip on the wheel doesn't look like someone driving potentially 95MPH over the speed limit.
