  1. You can also limit the amount of dust the car attracts bu the type of sealant you use. a PURE Polymer with no carnuaba will attract very little dust.
  2. All Lexus' come with maintenance free batteries, his must have been installed aftermarket. They're a PITA when they explode aren't they?
  3. Lexol should be enough
  4. Damn, that sucks...what a moron! Post some pics and we'll give you an idea...
  5. 85k is pretty much the strut threshold, I think my dad had them done on his old 98 around there.
  6. Check out the Autosharp pen, www.autovisuals.com
  7. It sounds like a bad motor mount to me, really does. As for the up and down, have the front struts ever been replaced?
  8. If its garaged car covers are a PITA in my opinion. They're always a PITA but are neccisary if the car is parked outside. Lexus, you can use a paint sealant too, there are MANY on the market ;) I only use sealants nowadays, wax just doesn't last long enough, except for Collinite waxes.
  9. T-shirts are about the worst thing you can use for paint because they have no nap. Terry and microfiber towels work because the fibers wick dust and dirt into the weave of the towel keeping it from scratching the finish. Wiping the finish with a T Shirt just drags these things along. T shirts are great for windows, but shouldn't be used for paint. You also dont want to use chrome polish on the wheels, just use anything you use to wax/protect the paint. The wheels are clearcoated themselves, just like the paint. Congrats!
  10. Touchup paint will probably make it look a lot worse than it does now. You might want to try seeing if a bumper touchup place will have a go at it, but thats gonna cost $$. As for the tailpipe, the chrome tip comes off and is replaceable...
  11. Great! Who else? c'mon guys LOC needs to be represented!
  12. Theres absolutely no way to remove the "OK" disclaimer at startup. People have tried everything including re-burning the DVD discs to remove it and theres no way. I always thought AT LEAST allow input while the passenger seat sensor registers an occupant. I find myself pulling off the highway, which is more dangerous than just inputting the address...
  13. That could be one of two things. 1. Someone at some point backed into a parking space and hit the parking curb. 2. At some point someone rear ended the car lightly. You may be able to make that look better but I doubt it will come out. Can you feel them with your fingernail? As for the tailpipe, Eagle One Nevr Dull wadding polish will clean it up B)
  14. I'd try the wadding polish and see how that does.
  15. I SERIOUSLY doubt this is possible, or easily done. You'd need the shift computer off of a 2001+ GS3 with E-Shift and I dont want to know what that would cost...
  16. HRP, are you a member on Autopia, whats your handle over there?
  17. Naa, they're just bad in winter weather lol.
  18. Oh please, don't start this stupid male chauvanist crap again. The man's wife was involved in a car accident, how about being supportive instead of calling her an idiot? What a jerky thing to say. Ignore this guy joon, if he does it again I'll suspend his account. Rudeness isn't tolerated at the LOC. The topic here is not women drivers it is uninetended acceleration. Any posts otherwise will be removed by me. Anyways, all of the research into the Lexuses and other vehicles accelerating unintendedly has shown that its ALWAYS driver error. The NHTSA did a complete investigation of the LS430 and found that there was nothing inherant to the vehicle that causes unintended acceleration. There is currently a similar investigation of the ES, Camry, Sienna, RX, Highlander, and Solara. I'm confident the response there will be the same. There are a couple things that could have happened. What is inherant in Lexus or any other vehicle with an electronic throttle is a slight lag when beginning accelration, from a stop or at speed. If you overcorrect for this lag as it sounds like your wife may have done once the throttle kicks in it will accelerate at whatever position the pedal is at, which can be quite startling. Another possibility is your wife may have hit the gas before the truck has successfully shifted into drive. I see people doing this all the time, they back out of driveways and shift to drive before they've stopped and let the car ride back on the transmission and then ride forward and they never actually stop. Aside from being really hard on the transmission this can be very dangerous. If you apply the gas before ther shift is complete it will hesitate, and when it shifts again, the acceleration will be wherever the gas pedal is placed, if its placed too far down again you can loose control. The main cursor for me is when your wife said "it hesitated a minute". If her foot wasn't on the gas there would be no hesitation to feel. Not saying she's a bad driver, at this point in our lives so many things we do when driving are simply automatic when something traumatic happens like an accident, we don't remember exactly what we did because we do it beneath the level of conciousness. I'd bet money they're going to find no problem. Glad everyones okay!
  19. People try all kinds of wacky things, why not lol
  20. I haven't heard of any problems with the ES' AVS, but the LS' air suspension is a HUGE problem.
  21. I don't think you can turn it off. Its never bothered me...
  22. It may not be possible to remove that scratch from the B pillar (thats the pillar between the front and rear doors. Thats paint but it has a matte finish and it isn't condusive to polishing. I'd hit it with some Meguiars Scratch X and a coat of wax and see how it looks. As for the scratches in the rear, can you post a picture of them? Can you feel them with your fingernail?
  23. You mean the chrome that seperates the lower cladding from the rest of the car? Can you post a couple pictures? I'd try some Eagle One Nevr Dull Wadding Polish, it comes in a silver tin.
  24. Stay Tuned, I hear tell there be even better things a' commin!
