  1. I have heard from a couple sources that the ES has been delayed for replacement until 2013 as well as the Camry. If thats the case, the 2012 would be a carryover from 2011. This may or may not have anything to do with the earthquake...
  2. What you have to understand is that yes...your IS is newer than your LS...but your LS is the top of the line car...the IS is the bottom of the line entry level car. Whether its an IS-F or not that may not be much cheaper than a new LS, its still built off the basic framework of the IS, which is the entry level car. You're going to lack little features in it that you had on the LS because the IS is built to a price...
  3. The article isn't talking about boomers though, its talking about millennials...generation Y, my generation. Not people who did drive luxury cars and then suddenly stop...but people who are getting to the age where they are beginning to buy upmarket cars and their buying activity. What the boomers did or didn't do is beside the point. I mean...something's working. They sold 22,000 Genesis sedans last year. Not ES numbers, but thats something.
  4. There you go!
  5. No idea about the covers, they're not my taste, but the seats are completely different in the '00 than the '08. Welcome to the club!
  6. The CVT in the RX doesn't have a drive-belt, its not like a traditional CVT.
  7. I think the guy is right, although you can't really give a lot of credibility to someone who refers to the top line Lexus as the "LS400" , a model it hasn't been called for going on 12 years now. But I think he's right, I said some time ago that once this all settles down its not going to be as cool anymore to flaunt wealth, driving luxury branded cars, belonging to country clubs, etc. Its a different world and in a lot of ways I think our generation of people are going to be more similar to those who came of age during the depression, less apt to part with money because we know how easily money can just evaporate... So...I think the future is bright for cars like Hyundai and Buick. I can tell you I am a lot less interested in $1200 LS lease payments than I was before the recession. Had it not been for that, I'd have gotten an LS460 this time instead of another ES. I could afford it...but in a lot of ways its lost its appeal. I'm quite happy socking that additional $600 a month into my retirement accounts. I don't know if I'll ever buy one at this point...
  8. I would be very surprised if they cleared the brakes on the LS unfortunately...
  9. Yeah you may want to try the UK club...I don't know what any of that means ;)
  10. Yeah the lights will turn off automatically when you shut the car off, so you can just leave them ON all the time...
  11. That does sound wrong doesn't it? LOL Hey baby...show me your lumbar pillows...
  12. I'd love to see some pictures of your lumbar pillows!
  13. Yikes NC...good luck with that! That doesn't make any sense...did you make money on it when you sold it in 2009? And even if you did...did you make $500,000 on it? Because you and your wife are exempt from capital gains up to $500,000 for your principal residence. Are they trying to argue the basis or that it was your principal residence?
  14. I gotta agree...life's too short to sweat the small stuff...its an inconvenience for sure...but stuff can be fixed...
  15. Gotta take it back...glass replacement is tricky. Let us know how it turns out...
  16. It depends on a lot of variables. You can get better deals on the higher MSRP'd cars because theres a bigger span between the MSRP and the invoice. I bought my ES for $5k less than the MSRP, but that MSRP was over $41k.
  17. I didn't see much difference in the comfort department between the ES and the Genesis. The Genesis is sportier than the ES and rides more like a BMW 5 series vs the really supple ride of the Lexus...
  18. The only tire I'd even consider is the Michelin Primacy MXV4.
  19. The cabin air filter? Its easy. Open the glove box. Detach the glove box door and set it aside (it pops out) You'll see a duct looking thing with a door that pulls out...pull it out. The filter is in there. Replace and reinstall everything. Hope that helps!
  20. Seriously! "Hey honey, what should we do today?" "I know, lets take our $70,000 automobile and stack a bunch of sharp, edgy wine glasses on the hood, rev it up to they all fall and break, scratch and chip the f*ck out of the hood, film it on YouTube so everybody can see what a douchebag I am, then we can spend the rest of the evening cleaning broken glass up off the driveway!" "Sounds like a fantastic day! Maybe if we're lucky our kids will get glass in their feet when they play in the yard tomorrow!" What an @sshole. LOL
  21. It looks to be in real good shape. Well loved by somebody...
  22. Pretty cool! But thats not a 1990 LS400 as they say. The 1990 had different wheels and had an analog odometer, that LS has a digital odometer. Thats a 1993 or 1994. So, THEY LIE! ;)
  23. Very easy to operate without it being illuminated. Button on the tip turns it on, push down for set, up for resume, pull back to cancel.
  24. Or you could have just used the key without the remote/keyless functionality until you could replace the battery.
  25. Stuff like that doesn't get you as much good will as you think. My business partner and I fight about this all the time, he loves doing stuff for free in the thought that its going to get him a bunch of business down the line...and it just never materializes. For one thing...people don't realize you're doing them a favor by doing things at cost or for free, and when you tell them you are...they really don't believe you. You can't work for free.
