  1. Auto Mags don't really care for Lexus, not surprising it didn't make the list.
  2. No, don't do it. For one, most dealerships do abysmal detailing jobs, I don't let a dealership even wash my car. Second thats an absured price, totally absurd. All they do is apply some sort of bulk polymer sealant. With the info from this site you can do everything they do and do it better or you could pay a pro detailer about $120 to do it.
  3. PDR is not a do it yourself item. PDR techs have many hours of instruction under their belts, it requires very expensive tools and a lot of expertise to do it properly. I have a great PDR guy who has fixed several dings on my cars.
  4. You would have been welcome!
  5. Thats the clear bra I was talking about LOL
  6. I do have to agree, he was just trying to help.
  7. That might be an interesting idea to try an auxilliary tranny cooler...
  8. It really depends on the person. I find the seats in my ES really comfortable but my fiance doesn't. A line from the old !Removed! Van !Removed! show "Problem with bucket seats is everybody has a different size bucket".
  9. www.lexus-parts.com sells them cut and programmed for like $140 I think.
  10. Thats strange, they should come totally programmed. Did you try emailing Darryl at lexus-parts.com? I'm not sure if you can program the start yourself.
  11. No reason to leave, thats silly. I was just trying to make you understand that we're trying to help you by steering you in the right direction so you can get the most out of your purchase. You've got to be open to whats being said though.
  12. Only way is to purchase a clear bra...
  13. Well no, you dont want to ever offer MSRP for a car, but don't be expecting to be able to swing a deal for one for $1500 over invoice especially when its out of state and they can't count on any service business. Keep in mind that the LS has a much lower on the lot time than the G35, Infinitis always sell at really steep discounts.
  14. Well thats your opinion, I don't share it I test drove Avalons before I bought the ES and thought they were boaty like Buicks but its your opinion. All I'm saying is you shouldn't have bought a Lexus if all you were looking for was reliability. Just realize that the Camry/Avalon/ES are all primarily the same vehicle in the suspension and drivetrain department. The ES has softer bushings and higher quality struts and springs but other than that the drivetrains are pretty much the same. So what you're driving is basically the same car. Ever hear the idea of a self fulfilling prophecy? Its hard not to concentrate on the faults of a vehicle you "never would have chosen as your vehicle" isn't it? The steering clunk is easily reapired under warranty, the hesitation in the transmission can be remedied by adapting your driving style to it. Do you not want to be satisfied? Whats the point in even posting here if you're going to argue with our advice? I'm trying to help you by pointing you in the right direction with the steering clunk (which is repairable and there is a TSB according to my research) and explaining the transmission jerk to you. I'm not going to help you though and no one else here is either if you're going to be nasty to us. You've got to realize that this is a Lexus enthusiast board, most of us are 110% satisfied with our cars. Its not my fault you're not satisfied with your car, I don't work for Lexus. Go give your "news" to someone who can do something about it.
  15. The total memory is full? Yikes, thats got to be a malfunction...
  16. I really don't think you're going to be able to find an 05 Ultra for 1500 over invoice...
  17. You don't owe anyone an apology, it is we that owe you an apology.
  18. Thats definately true, but luxury car salespeople will just let you walk. Thats a very popular car and they WILL sell it. Every area has their own "price" and I've learned that generally Lexus salespeople are pretty legitimate when they quote you a price. There's a LOT more dealing room in areas with a lot of dealers like California.
  19. LOL get some of your buddies together. "ROAD TRIP!" Don't be concerned about a detailer messing with your paint, just make sure you pick one with good references that seems to know what he's talking about. Talk to several. If they mess up your paint then they are liable to repair the damage so if any detailer thinks they'll make it worse then they won't take the job. The saving grace here, and why I think the paint may be savable is BECAUSE its a single stage job. Lexus single stage black is very thick and very polishable. What you need to do is remove that top layer of dead paint and reveal the living paint below. Single stage paints have more polishing room than clearcoats because they don't have a clear to burn through.
  20. Did you ever buy that PC? I STILL think that most of that on your paint is just oxidation because of the single stage paint and can be corrected with a PC. You might want to hit up a detailer in your area and see what they think in person and see if it can be done by PC or if they think the use of a rotary will be neccisary. I would do it for free if I were in your area ;)
  21. Wow, thats the deal of a lifetime. You could go to Europe first class on what you saved with the 04 over the 05!
  22. My guess is its not direct and is a readout from the ECU.
  23. Welcome to the club! The RX330s I've driven as loaners all have fine fit and finish, but I've never checked the VIN to see if they were made in Canada or in Japan. The fit and finish on my Japanese ES is fine. I HAVE noticed though that Lexus doesn't do as good a job with rattles as they used to, my car has had a couple. The dealer has always been willing and able to fix them quickly though. As for the dealers all dealers are not created equal as they are privately owned businesses. We have two here that are real stinkers but 3 that are great.
  24. In California sure, but not elsewhere in the country. Lexus prices are significantly lower in CA thats why a lot of car brokers get cars from there. Being in Seattle she could get one from California pretty easily though.
  25. You're not going to get more than $3-4k off of the MSRP on that car. Its not like an ES or something where they sell them in volume and thats where they make the profit. So I'd say shoot for 66k or so.
