  1. Thats a tradeoff, the lights are set low to avoid dazzling oncumming drivers. Easily fixed by adjusting the aim up slightly. As for the KDSS, you can get active suspension on the RX, but the KDSS is mostly designed for offroad and adverse roadbed conditions the RX is not designed to be operated in, hence no use for it. Can't get KDSS on the LX470 either.
  2. So apparently that front biased "fake" AWD works just fine. Surprise surprise ;)
  3. Yep, totally normal. Brakes generate massive amounts of heat and what you're feeling is that heat being transfered to the wheels.
  4. Yeah thats very common on older cars that have had dino oil their whole life. The dino oil gells and fills in little seepage holes, the synthetic cleans away these gelled deposits and open up the leaks.
  5. Do you have the manual? If not you can order one free from www.lexus.com it should have all the info you need. None of the problems you mentioned sound normal to me, rear main seals happen I suppose from time to time but the friend seat heater switches are rare. The most important thing to know is if the oil was changed properly. The 97-01 ES300 has an engine gelling issue and if oil changes are delayed much past 5k miles you can get oil gelling in higher mileages which neccesitates engine replacement.
  6. Excellent point, I hadn't even thought about that.
  7. Cool, that'll be easier than running it to the back anyways.
  8. Thats an old wives tale, you can apply wax now. That MAY be true for repaints but not for factory paint jobs, its been long since 30 days ago that car was painted. Even if it hadn't been the paint is hard cured at the factory. In fact unless you asked them not to the dealership waxed it before you took delivery. Enjoy!
  9. I'd agree when it comes to cars, but not SUVs. For some buyers, including me, the RX or MDX would be more appealing than the GX just because of the fact it rides on a car platform and has a more carlike ride. The GX has more towing capacity and more power to match that but you have a tradeoff in ride because of the fact that its a truck. The GX doesn't have any equipment that can't be had on the RX, in fact the RX has HID headlamps which aren't availiable on the GX. I personally wouldn't even drive a GX when looking for an SUV because it doesn't suit my needs, not because its too expensive a vehicle.
  10. In what way don't you like it, too small? You could always try a blade a couple inches longer and see what that does for you.
  11. I like the new X3, haven't driven one but its caught my eye on the road. Trading the RX on it?
  12. Thats the snow tires more than its the VSC. I agree that the VSC wasn't designed with snow driving in mind. If you do get the GS or the 5 DEFINATELY put snow tires on it.
  13. Definately wait. The new GS is the first Lexus to show off their new styling theme and soon all Lexus are going to share it so the current GS is going to look odd man out down the road. The real appeal of the Lexus is its longevity, might as well wait and buy the brand new model which should look new for 8 or so years down the road. Run flats? Eeeww.
  14. Nice! Not into the bra but thats personal preference. I like where you mounted our sat. antenna, hows the reception? I have the antenna for my Sirirus mounted on the rear parcel shelf but I think I'm going to buy a smaller antenna and mount it either right where you have it mounted or above the rear window in the same way.
  15. Thats perfect! ;)
  16. Check ebay, people sell Lexus wheels at good prices all the time on there.
  17. 303 Aerospace protectant is probbaly the best for that task.
  18. Several people have already answered your question and expressed doubt that you can get an 05 LS430 for $1500 over invoice. I have, 99LSguy has, Ikirschner has, FlintUltra has, blake 918 has, ronsadvice has and he offered to help you try and you turned him down, Unlisted has, silermate has, MikeP has in other threads. I'm starting to question whether or not you actually want our advice or if you just need someone to agree with you. The fact of the matter is your G35 and the LS430 are totally different buying experiences. The G35 is an entry level luxury car, almost $40,000 cheaper than the LS you're shopping for. Infiniti has much lower demand than Lexus and much lower resale value. Infinitis will ALWAYS sell at steeper discounts than Lexuses. The LS is the flagship model, most dealers don't even stock UL cars they have to be ordered so you're not "rescuing" a salesperson by buying an LS like you are by buying a G35 off the lot. Its just a totally different strata of car and a different buying experience. If you offer a dealership $1500 over invoice for that car they'll laugh at you. Like we've said before $66k is an excellent price on that car. If thats too much then you really need to look at a different car. I apologize for getting frustrated but we're trying to help you and you refuse to accept what we're saying and keep asking the same question over and over.
  19. No, never let the car idle cold. Let it run for a few seconds until the oil has a chance to reach all points of lubrication and then drive gently until it reaches operating temperature. The engine is its most inefficient when its cold and it recieves its most wear. Driving gently helps the engine warm up quicker.
  20. Oh they'll always win first place, but they still don't care for them. Read the actual reviews of the cars and they're always saying things like "Yet technically perfect the Lexus lacks this, although it won I would buy that etc".
  21. As far as I understand it it has to do with the relative quality of the gas.
  22. Lots of Silversports around here.
  23. I've already told you several times but you don't seem to be listening, NO I DON'T THINK SO Thats $9500 off MSRP on a car thats been out a month and a half, unheard of.
  24. The sulfer smell has been a problem on all Lexus' since they went to ULEV status. I've found that low sulfer gas like BP and Shell keep the smell from happening while Exxon seems to be the worst.
