  1. The difference between the sander model and the polisher model is small though, you just have to order a backing plate with your pads which you might have to do anyway depending on what kind of pads you buy.
  2. Yeah I agree, if its 3 years old it just needs to be replaced. Batteries can only hope to last ~ 5 years, and having the car sit a long time without driving it shortens the battery life. I always replace batteries as a maintenance item every 3 years.
  3. Yeah that doesn't surprise me, the OEM blade is a good quality blade.
  4. Don't roll over for that one! If you complain long enough they'll cave. I don't disagree with Army actually, go see a lawyer. Take the paperwork with you and have him review it and see what he thinks. Most lawyers will do a consultation like that for $50 or so. Thats terrible...
  5. Definately, coastal tool has a great price too.

    New Job

Don't take it if you have to drive. I'm self employed and I work from home most of the time so I have no commute, but I know people who have commutes like that and it really wears on them. BUT if you can take the train thats not that big a deal. I also know people who sit on a train for an hour every day and its not a big deal. They actually enjoy it, time to unwind and be alone, one of them has wireless internet and uses it as his email/imternet time and he loves it. It really depends on WHY you're taking that job. If its a leg up for your career thats going to be temporary thats one thing but if its just for money I wouldn't do it. If its going to cost you $700 at least to commute you're looking at maybe half your take home pay right there...

    Shoes...

Bought some, two kinds. I bought Bostonians, a black cap toe pair with a deerskin midsection that is VERY stylish and comfortable and a burgundy cap toe pair with a woven leather midsection. Thanks for the advice guys!
  8. You can order from Lowes online too. I will send the polish this week!
  9. LOL, it doesn't look like it. Looks like the whole thing has to be replaced. They're great wipers though, all the new BMW 5s come with them. I've driven a couple of them in the rain owned by friends and clients and they are silent, don't chatter and are REALLY low profile.
  10. LF- I make a comission on every car a dealership I contract with sells and I make WAY less money in January than I do other times of the year. January is really slow... bart- No reason to avoid an auction, thats how the dealerships get most of their cars in the first place. You're thinking of seizure auctions or something like that, dealer auctions are nothing like that. Say you trade a Mercedes into the Lexus dealer, it goes to auction because they don't want to sell it on their lot. Nothing wrong with the Mercedes, the dealership just isn't interested in it.
  11. I think its because the ES doesn't have a chrome trim along the beltline of the car like the other models. Black looks better on the GS and LS than the ES because of this strip I think.
  12. I'd just get the basic Lake Country constant contact pads.
  13. I just ordered the Valeo blades ;) http://ultimatewiperblade.com/ You know you're a Lexus owner when you just dropped $90 on wiper blades. But at least I didnt give my $90 to the dealer! That'll help me sleep tonight...yeah...
  14. Yeah I'm certainly not going to pay Lexus $80 for OEM wiper blades. I've been doing some research and the PIAA blades look cool. My only concern about them is that the new Lexus models (this wouldn't be a problem for RX in NC) have a factory coating on the windshield and side windows that repels water. I know from experience that other products that repel water react unhappily with this coating which worries me somewhat about the PIAA blades because they have that silicone coating. I'm thinking about ordering some Valeo blades. They'll be about the cost of the Lexus blades but they're a european blade that BMW is now using. Its kinda neat, they have no hinges like a normal blade and supposedly are supposed to cover better and be more stable at high speeds. Here they are: http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/AccRes...ories&x=131&y=7
  15. Check out the detailing forum, all the answers you need are in there. If you don't want to do it find a good reputable detailer in your area, don't let the dealer do it. The dealer overcharges for crappy work.
  16. Until it breaks ;)
  17. Black Garnet is worlds better than black! Black is boring ;)
  18. I think Lowes has it for $99, I'd say $150 fully equipped with pads and backing plate.
  19. I don't know, Lexus has several weird packaging choices. For instance on the east coast it is very hard to get chrome wheels...except in Florida while almost all cars in CA come with chromes. Actually all the reviews I read said to stay away from the AVS because it feels too firm in sport and too soft in comfort, and the middle setting feels like the normal susp.
  20. He means a Porter Cable dual action polisher. silver- I'm sure his wheels were clearcoated like yours.
  21. Only other thing I can suggest other than whats already been suggested here is the purchase of a car cover...
  22. Don't get too excited, they did this for the ES/RX and it didn't help.
  23. The best time to buy a car is January. January is the slowest month of the year in the car business, some salespeople go through an entire January and don't sell one car.
  24. Not neccisarily. They may be etched into the clearcoat and the only way to remove them may be to sand and repaint the wheels.
