Its definately worth the cost for the factory XM though, its seamless and operates through the nav system. I have a seperate tuner in my ES and its great, but I definately would have sprung for the Lexus system had it been availiable for my car. If you'd rather have Sirius Lexus is coming out with a factory Sirius tuner in Feb.

02-06 Transmission hesitation problems
SW03ES replied to amf1932's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Its the same issue with the 7s, the drive by wire system. The car companies are simply rushing this technology to market before its ready. -
But really, where in the US highway system will you have an opportunity to safely travel more than 110mph?

The Lexus kit is really the best and most integrated option, so you'll need to get the Lexus kit somewhere. My suggestion is www.lexus-parts.com Then find a high quality car stereo installer in your area and have them install it for you. HUGE savings over the dealer, but you're still looking at ~$400

How longs the wait?

Autodimming Mirror From A 2000 Into A 93?
SW03ES replied to chrispiss's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Tahoes are fine, its the same mirror ;) -
No problem, I'm happy to help. Remember that ALL LS wheels are interchangable so you can fit LS wheels from any generation to your 91. Silvermate has 98-00 machined LS400 16" wheels on his first gen LS and they look great. If you want something bigger you could also go to the LS430's 17s or even 18s. I agree, 20s is overkill on an LS and would ruin the ride. The 16s from the 01-05 GS look good on the first gen LS too.

jrag- I should have said "some of these people", I apologize. You've never acted like this guy has acted or others have. Seeing a problem in the design of the transmission/throttle of the car and believing that Lexus doesn't intend to help you doesn't make you paranoid, going around accusing this site and particular members of being Lexus plants and there being some conspiracy to deny these people help or an avenue to discuss the issue DOES make them paranoid. All the other moderators and I did was close that guy's post and direct him to this thread, it is our policy that discussion of the transmission/throttle issue be done here to keep from allowing the forum to be taken over by these posts. Instead of simply complying with our wishes, he opened ANOTHER thread and accused steviej of being "worried" about a class action suit. Well, steviej is a medical researcher, why would he be worried? Then he posts in here using giant 20point font, thats just not neccisary. He wasn't banned because of his grievance he was banned because of his conduct, he believes it was because of his grievance that makes him paranoid. Also, for the record, its not that I don't consider the drivetrain hesitation a problem its that I don't consider it a safety problem. The drivetrain on this car in inexcusably jerky for its price. I've learned to drive around it though and now I never feel the hesitation. My stance on the subject comes from the fact that I believe that the behavior is inherant in the drive by wire system and that there's no way it can be repaired, so why worry about it... -
The 04 upper models have adaptive lighting also. Definately shop the price. Of course the dealer said everyone else would quote you the same price, he's a salesman and wants to sell you the car. Why is your dad so opposed to the purchase? Welcome to the LOC! I spent some time at Acura-TL.com when I was shopping and considering a TL, a very nice forum.

Banned. All I asked you to do was adhere to the rules of the site and stop trying to one-up the moderators. If you can't post within the rules, you'll have to post somewhere else. Like I said, we're not affiliated with Lexus in any way, we're owners and we're allowed to discuss our opinions too. Again, I know your frustrated but thats not our fault. You're not going to get anywhere trying to get some action on your issue if you're rude and disrespectful to people. Nobody's going to take you seriously, just like nobody has here. One thing I've noticed about these people having this tranny issue, they sure are paranoid -
Wind Noise By Windshield At 65mph+ On 01
SW03ES replied to vincentesq's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
Oh yeah...good point... Glad I could help! -
Well we put 5000 miles on my Lexus since October because my fiance's Grandmother was dying and we were travelling back and forth to NJ often. Wanting to save on the mileage and realizing that we have a big 400 mile each way trip to NY for New Years I decided we would drive her Prius to NJ this weekend for "Christmas" with her family. Its an 04, we've had it since April and it has 4000 miles on it. Its a pkg 9 with every option, smart entry, navigation, bixenon headlamps. I've driven it many times but never extensively, I did all the driving this weekend. I was impressed with it, its hardly a Lexus on the highway but it rode smoothly and we got 47mpg on the trip, the Lexus usually gets about 25. The drivers seat had some pressure points for me in the lower back area (I have chronic problems there because of a birth defect, most cars will make my lower back hurt after an hour or so, but not the Lexus) but other than that it was comfortable. I was able to get a comfortable seating position despite the limited manual seat adjustments. It rode like a champ at 80 with some kind of interesting wind buffeting that seemed out of place on such an aerodynamic car. It also developed some sort of rattle in the passengers dash halfway through the trip up that the dealer will have to look at... We had the two of us, 4 ferrets in their travel cage and our puppy in the rear seat, all of their stuff (which is massive I assure you, a 4 foot by 4 foot playpen, a collapsible crate for the dog, their luggage, food, litter, bedding, our bags, and christmas presents) it swallowed all the luggage very well and I was still able to see out the back window. The stereo is high quality (JBL) and and the climate control worked well. All in all I'm really impressed, its a very nice little car.

The changes are totally contingent on your particular area...

I'm sure it can be bypassed, but why. The RX is hardly a sports car and I'm sure its handling gets none too sure over 110 mph.

02-06 Transmission hesitation problems
SW03ES replied to amf1932's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
The huge type is really not neccisary so I removed it. Like I said before, I realize that you are frustrated but we will not tolerate your being rude to our members or administration and breaking our rules. -
I'm sorry but that is the official thread for the ES tranny issue. I realize that you are frustrated but thats no excuse to take it out on us or break our posting guidelines. We're not affiliated with Lexus in any way, this is simply an enthusiast club owned, moderated, operated by Lexus enthusiasts so we're not "worried" about anything happening via a class action lawsuit or whatever. If you want to discuss this issue it must be done in the pinned topic above. If you post another thread and disobey the wishes of the administration again you will be immediately banned, this is your first and last warning. That type of behavior is totally unnaceptable, this is a private forum and your membership is contingent on your ability to treat others with respect and stay within our posting guidelines.

They're planning high performance hybrid versions for every Lexus model. GS450h, LS450(or500)h, ES400h etc.
-
Only on the LOC could a plea for sympathy turn into a lecture and then into a music trivia game LOL
-
The thing to do is PM a moderator and ask them to pin a topic for you if you want one pinned.

There you go!

Welcome! Pre-wax cleaner: The Swirl Remover will act as your pre-wax cleaner here. Wheels: They are clearcoated and you can clay them. In all honesty you'll probably want to look into replacing them or having them refinished. A brand new set of those wheels (or at least freshly refurbished) can be had for a few hundred bucks. Well worth it. Wheels are the focal point of your car really, no matter how great the car looks if it has ugly wheels it won't look its best.

If you travel definately get it. I love mine and will never again buy another car without it. Stuck in traffic, hit "detour" no more hit or miss back roads. Need a restaurant? Search by radius from your current location. Plus its just damn handy to constantly have your position on the map to avoid guesswork like "does this street go through?" etc. The nav is my favorite feature.
-
The same can (and is repeatedly) said about the Avalon vs Lexus interiors...
-
I think the usefulness of the nav goes well beyond any annoyance over pushing the button or the buttons beeping. I'll never buy another car without navigation again, its a fantastic feature.

I agree, there's really not any advantage when using one of those things to working by hand. Also I'd be concerned about the quality of the bonnets, low grade bonnets with polyester included in the weave can swirl up your paint REAL quick.
