  1. Check out the color matched antenna site, the smaller antennas look really good painted. You could also try a higher end stereo place like a Myer Emco or a Tweeter. They had no problem doing my Lexus.
  2. What possible reason do you have to think this?
  3. Happy birthday!
  4. Of course it is, but the process of qualifying buyers to decide if they are ready to buy is universal to all types of sales. The "what would you do?" question really works, if they're ready to buy and they're ready to buy from you you'll know it. Perhaps a better question for car sales is "If we have the exact car you're looking for, or we can get it, would you buy it today" but thats a little more high pressure. Try it, it works. As for your home buying experience, if the Realtor was worth the possibly 5 digit pay he recieved from that sale he should not have been ainxious. Its not uncommon for realtors to work with people for months and months...even years. In real estate sales you don't sell houses, you match the people and the house to each other. Once you've gotten the buyers (or sellers) to sign with you, then the salesmanship is over. You become their fiduciary agent, more like their lawyer. Real estate sales is also different from car sales because people don't !Removed! around. Generally when you've found a good client and you KNOW they're going to buy and sell then its very rare that a realtor gets shafted. Car salesmen however get shafted a lot. Its just a different type of thing. For one thing realtors and clients are under a contract...
  5. The dealer protection system is a scam, wish you'd asked us about it first. All they do is apply a low grady polymer sealant, it'll be gone in 6 months at the very maximum. You could have gotten better protection yourself with a bottle of Klasse or Zaino.
  6. I dont think they're ugly at all, makes them blend into the car so that you dont notice it. I think I know the car you mean, a red SC430? Thats the old big antenna with the tail, new antennas are very small and have no tail.
  7. Its an individual dealer thing, or it may have to do with CA insurance regs.
  8. But all candidates ARE politicians. You'll never find a politician who lobbies for higher speed limits, its not a popular platform and theres too much money being made by speeding. Anyone who tried to raise speed limits across the board wouldn't last very long.
  9. Thats true, and we had no problems with the sales staff.
  10. Voji- Thats your policy about not letting anyone test drive alone, but I personally dont agree with that policy. I personally would never buy a car from your dealership as I always drive a car for at least a day before I buy. That seems more common in CA for some reason, strange. Here 90% of dealers let customers who they know will buy do extended drives on their own. I'm a realtor so I know plenty about people who look but aren't interested in buying. I haven't been doing this long (I did and still do consult with car dealers) but you see it all the time, people turn realtors into cab drivers and have them drive them around for weeks figuring they get paid to do that. Is that the consumers fault? No. Consumers are stupid, they don't understand how business works. Its the salespersons fault for allowing it to happen. You need to qualify people and be sure that they're looking to buy before you spend time on them. I've seen people who do that well, and people who don't. Theres no reason to avoid going into jewlery stores, if the owner of the store heard you say that he'd have a heart attack. He wants you to come in and look so that you like the store, when you want to buy you'll go back. I always tell the salespeople "I'm not interested in buying I'm just looking" and if they choose to spend time on me, thats their mistake. Some are smart and leave me alone, some aren't. For some reason the ones that aren't smart never last very long. Not true, they teach entire seminars on how to do just this. I know, I've taken them. To me its pretty easy to tell. Oftentimes its as easy as saying "If I found the best (whatever) for you right now, what would you do?" and look them right in the eye, you'll know if they're ready or not by what they say and how they say it. Do that and you won't be bothered by looky-loos again. I find thats true whatever you're selling. "If I set up an advertising program for you right now that you love, what would you do?" "If I find a car right now that fits all your needs, what would you do?" "If I can show you the best lens for your camera, what would you do?" Then look them square in the face and shut up, you'll know. I find thats one thing salespeople do poorly on the whole, they talk too much and never listen. Thats why they have trouble telling who'se serious and who'se not. If they're not serious, point them in the right directions and have them call you if they have questions.
  11. My guess is no dealer is going to be willing to discount the new GS yet, if they are then its not going to be more thank $1,000 or so. AWD or RWD? I'll assume RWD. The invoice is $38,402 and the MSRP is $43,550 base. There is no way you will get a new 06 GS300 for $38k, you MIGHT be able to get a left over 2005 for that but probably not. So, let go of that right now. No, Lexus typically doesn't do factory to dealer incentives and certainly not on a brand new model. Lexus does pay the dealership whats called dealer holdback, for Lexus its 2% of the base MSRP or $871. If you're wondering what the dealer will make on the car its AROUND the difference between invoice and the selling price, plus the holdback. The salesman gets a % of this amount. This is offset by the cost of rent and insurance for the time the car spent on the lot. Don't offer the dealer anything, make them offer you a price. I think $1,000 off sticker would be a great deal on a new GS. Like Guy said, its not a Malibu. Buying a foreign luxury car is different from buying something else, the price you pay is far closer to what the sticker says. Now, you can buy Lexus cars new that are older models for $500-$1000 over invoice but not a new GS.
  12. Great to see you here!
  13. I agree, I set mine up to autolock. That always annoyed me about the LS400 that it doesn't lock when placed in drive. Definately tell us how you did it when you figure it out!
  14. Just remember our terms of service when expressing that opinion and we'll have no problems.
  15. I fully agree, but bluetooth is one of those features thats going to become an industry standard. Not only is it a safety issue (excellent handsfree systems that are troublefree to use) its a productivity issue for people who need to access the Internet on the go, theres just no excuse for crippling the bluetooth.
  16. I do mine every 6 months.
  17. Yes, politicians are exempt, you may call them whatever you wish ;) I'm not saying at all that speed limits aren't too low or that the racket going on isn't crooked or wrong, I'm just saying its not the cops fault.
  18. Thank you B)
  19. Eh, little blingy for me.
  20. They're definately not as reliable as anything Japanese.
  21. I have no need nor do I have any intention of apologizing. I didn't call you ignorant, I called your attitude ignorant. Many very intellegent and articulate individuals have attitudes that reek of ignorance. I'm not moderating you at all, I'm reacting to your opinion. This has nothing to do with my being a moderator. I don't need to get an "alternate username" and pretend I'm not a moderator on this site to debate with you or anyone else on any topic I see fit. This is a voluntary position, I do it because I enjoy helping to build the club. I am first and foremost a member and I have every right to express my opinion fairly and respectfully on any matter I see fit. You'll just have to get over any percieved "authority" or whatever you think I have over you. Its an internet forum, I'm not a senator Calling a group of people anything derogatory is ignorant. You can and should be better than that. Do you know every traffic cop on earth? Do you know enough of them to be a representative sample of traffic cops as a whole? Are you now or have you ever been a traffic cop? If you answer to those questions is no than your attitude has no backing in experience or fact, and it is by definition ignorant. Here's the definition of ignorant: My attitude is based on the way a police department is usually structured and stays away from making personal judgements or interpretations on any group of people as to their characteristics of which I admittedly have no knowledge. You're not listening to me. Nobody wants to be a traffic cop, they HAVE to be traffic cops in ORDER to do what they want to do later on. Its a means to an end. The best way to make your "fancy schmantzy" LS400 cheaper to insure is to drive the speed limit. Drive the speed limit and you'll never have to worry about tickets again. Stop blaming others for the ramifications of your actions. If you think the speed limits are wrong, work to change them through your state or county's legislature. They set the laws, not the cops. You get the laws changed the cops will enforce the new laws, thats their job. Here's how it works: The speed limit is the law. When you speed you make a choice to break the law, I'm not saying this is right or wrong. When a cop stops you for driving above the speed limit he is enforcing the law, he is doing his job, and if he doesnt do it he will loose his career and his opportunity for advancement. Police departments watch the cops in traffic all the time, running test cars etc to see if they get stopped. Errors while on traffic delay any advancement, so cops don't want to make errors. The reason they give you a "cushion" of 5-10 MPH is because they can justify that to the governments and superiors they work for as a "mechanical range of error". Thats actually not neccisary as modern speed equipment is deadly accurate. Point one for the cops being fair right there. If you are really speeding and a cop stops you, he got you fair and square. Should have been smarter. You're calling him a money grubber because of the ramifications of your actions. Thats not fair. Now, I'm not saying that NOBODY becomes a cop to get a cheap thrill, but as with all prejudices and stereotypes (which is what your attitude is, hatred, prejudice, and stereotype) for 90% of the group it doesn't apply. Sorry you were offended but you werent concerned about offending others with your blanket statement about police officers. I make no apologies about my demeanor in situations like this, everyone knows I don't let people get away with posting BS like that.
  22. We're gonna need a "Lexus addicts anonymous"!
  23. I personally would always take an FX over an RX...
  24. You can bet that representatives from Lexus watch this and other Lexus boards. But one comments not gonna derail 5 million worth of design ;) Gotta have faith, people were bemoaning the refresh of the LS in 98 and look at how much better it looks than the 97 model. I wont say the same for the 01 LS430 vs the 00 LS400 but they got it right in 04.
  25. Troy must be a tough area lol
