  1. shortbear- Lexus requests that dealers never markup past MSRP, but dealers are all individually owned...
  2. Yep, here's the CD. He even did Tammy Wynette's "'Til I Can Make it On my Own" which had me laughing the first time I heard it. A 12 year old boy...singing a song about a woman staying with an abusive man because she's too afraid of being alone LMAO, what could he possibly know about that?
  3. 12 year old boys'll sound that way. ;) He was okay (terrible now...sheesh) my issue is, and he does an okay job with this, music is about emotion. I can't buy into songs about such serious issues being sung by kids that haven't had the life experiences to sing with any emotion. He did have an amazing voice though. When he first came out he was everywhere, sang at the Macy's day parade etc. I have the CD that song is on. Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=glance&s=music
  4. You don't need to, but you can if you want.
  5. That should come as no surprise ;)
  6. I've heard a couple people have this complaint but I personally can't think of a much more comfortable seat in any car out there... I guess its all personal preference...
  7. All turning overdrive off does is keep the transmission out of the last drive gear (4th on your RX300, 5th on your 330s). What Lexus do you have that has an O/D off light?! Turning overdrive off makes no difference when passing on the highway, when you get on the gas the car will downshift anyways.
  8. I like my Toyos, although I think they're developing some noise as they age but it might be my imagination. They're also quite poor in the snow. From my experience Michelin probably makes a tire with the best all around features, a good combo of longevity, ride and noise, and handling but you've got to pay for it. For ride I have to say the Dunlop SP Sport 4000 and 5000 are some of the softest riding tires I've seen, but the treadlife is short.
  9. I do agree, its obvious when comparing the older models and the newer models that they've removed some of the quality control over the years. Its a shame but thats what happens when you try to do all the model lines that Lexus has now. They're still the best cars for the money though.
  10. I dont think you'll be able to get 20s on an ES...
  11. The only reason to do it is price. The selection IS better but the real motivator is price. Oftentimes tire stores will meet the online price plus shipping.
  12. Apparently he's still got a job lol Here's his website: http://www.billygilman.com/ But I was right. The intro to his new CD says "One song is about the trying time I went through with my voice change" LOL Ouch...looks like the trying times still continue...I listened to a new song :o
  13. Actually "Billy" Gilman is a 12 year old boy...at least he was when he recorded that song, believe it or not. Now he's got no job, my guess is his voice changed.
  14. Clay pulls out imbedded contaminants from the paint, thats all it does. Dawn, or any kind of polishing etc won't do that. Your car may or may not need to be clayed but it probably does, at least the horizontal panels. The purpose of the Dawn is to make sure there aren't any oils on the paint before the Zaino is applied, its a matter of hot debate whether or not its actually neccisary. The imbedded contaminants can be rail dust, asphalt particles, environmental fallout. Many people dont realize how rough the surface of the paint is until they clay it and see the difference. IMHO claying is one of the biggest differences you can make for the health of your paint.
  15. What do you mean limit themselves? Dealers shouldn't charge more than MSRP + the destination charge (the 650), my personal opinion is charging more is a poor business practice and I wouldnt buy a car from someone who held cars for hostage like that. Absolutely. Thats some stupid paint protection system that a detailer would charge you $175 to do.
  16. RX- I'm not talking about your generation RX, I mean the 330s. The RX definately has some inherant transmission problems. I think the poor shift quality though is a side effect of the DBW and something we're all going to have to get used to until the technology improves.
  17. I definately disagree. There have been extensive tests done at strips and by car magazines using ECT PWR and not, when you're doing a 0-60 run it makes no difference because the car runs the same at WOT. It only makes a difference around town in normal driving making the car "feel" quicker and shifts "feel" quicker. I personally think the LS drives 75% better in the PWR mode. I really wish my ES had one. jacob- Its the same function as a "sport" mode on the transmission, exactly right.
  18. The GS300 comes AWD now. Eventually they'll all have an AWD option.
  19. Yes please, search all the forums for this info. There are several, huge threads on this topic.
  20. If you look back over the history of Lexus cars, there have always been little things they've had to fix under warranty, as long as they're willing to fix them doesn't bother me...
  21. I rotated my Bridgestones every 5k and they died at 18k. Dunlop SP4000 and 5000, every 5k and 20-25k.
  22. monarch- the issue is the DBW more than its the transmission, some people can get by it and adapt to it and some can't/wont.
  23. No need for a Z rated tire, but a V rated tire is reccomended, thats what the car comes with from the factory. Going lower in the speed rating may change the handling dynamics of the car.
  24. nc211- It depends on the individual car, if you learn to drive the car smoothly with the electronic throttle the hesitation won't annoy you anymore.
  25. No, I think its 7 years or 100,000 miles. It only covers rust perforation anyways, surface rust doesnt count.
