You can get approved for captive dealer financing with scores well into the lower 600s. 700+ gets you top rates. The financing is a vehicle to sell the cars, if you have a job and aren't in bankruptcy they'll get the financing approved because they want to sell the cars. Think about it, Lexus will finance a car for 84 months. Thats a bad investment for the bank in terms of a loan because the car will be upside down for years. They do it because Lexus financial services exists to move cars. Now, outside banks are a different story...

Yeah I don't buy that either. I bought a used smartkey for our Prius and the dealer was able to reprogram it just fine. I'm sure the Lexus system is better, but it doesn't make any sense that the key would know what car it is programmed to. The car knows what key, but the key doesn't know what car, does that make sense?

Eh that depends. To me the LS is a cruiser and that model looks fine on 16s, so I'd leave 16s on it to get the maximum ride. The LS430 doesn't look right on 16s. Oh and Jim, the 97 Coach LS wheels were the same cast but a different finish. The 98-00 wheel is machined while the 97 Coach wheel is painted ;)

Thats absolutely correct, when you are a great guy and treat everybody at the dealer the way you want them to treat you, they take really good care of you.

Hey guys, I'm looking around at the GS350, has anyone ever seen a GS350 that is not AWD in the Mid Atlantic or Northeast region?

The RWD GS comes with standard tires right? Anybody ever tried getting them to do a swap before purchase?

The GS is a lot more than $45k, $45k to start but they top out past $60k nowadays...

You know, its funny. My dad's old '98 LS had an auto-tilt for the passenger mirror only, which I really liked because that helped with curbs and the drivers mirror helped when backing out of driveways etc. Now they have both mirrors tilt, and I can't stand the drivers mirror tilting because thats what I primarily use when backing to steer. I wish you could shut one mirror off and not the other...

Well, the dealer is a private business. If they don't want to program keys not purchased from them as a policy they cannot be forced to do so. Its not "illegal". Its crappy...but they can do it. There is absolutely no reason why any SmartKey can't be programmed for your car. You can even buy used ones...

Griots doesn't really make products, they find products they like, get the rights to them, and then rebrand them as theirs and mark up the price. You can buy products that are as good, better, or precisely and exactly the same for less. No reason to spend money needlessly. Its a nice catalog, but I haven't bought anything from them since I figured that out.

Go to car forums for other makes and search "rat" and read what you get. This is not a problem unique to Lexus vehicles, its a problem unique to people who have rats. Its not Lexus' responsibility. I'd go after the garage for not properly exterminating their garage. If the dealer got it covered, they lied to Lexus to get it covered and said the harness was faulty, which some dealers will do for good customers. You can't blame dealers who choose not to lie. The dealer doesn't care if the warranty covers it or not, if the warranty covers it Lexus pays them for the work, if it doesn't then you pay. Either way they get paid.

Its high beams at low power. The low beams are HID projectors, they use the halogen high beams for the DRLs. Look at the light casings, the projectors towards the outside are the low beams, the reflectors towards the inside are the high beams, and the DRLs.

The PlastX isn't aggressive enough for really oxidized lenses, I've used it many times.

Wow, thanks for joining and sharing that with us. What would you like us to do about it? This website isn't owned by Lexus. My question is, did you test drive the car before you bought it and try out the features? You're taking the RX, which is almost 5 model years old at this point and is due for a remodel next year and comparing it to all new models. Its the only Hybrid luxury SUV on the market, or even remarkably close to being on the market. I'd say thats pretty cutting edge technology. As for the "Play artist..." commercials. Thats Microsoft's SYNC technology and it is VERY cool. They have an exclusive roll-out agreement with Ford. Want that? Gotta buy a Ford.

LOL How am I a traitor? Because there's a car I prefer to the RX? Actually, when looking for a luxury SUV the RX would be last on my list. The only reason the RX400h interests me is because its a hybrid. I just don't care for the RX. You're right, people should buy cars that "fit" them. And IMHO the Highlander fits be better than the RX. As for how they're selling, I'm sure they're selling well in your area. The Hybrid that is, SUVs in general are not selling well anywhere right now. The reason you've only seen 3 new Highlanders and plenty of RXs around is that the Highlander has only been out 9 months, and the RX in its current body style has been out for 4 years. You're going to see more RXs. Its just a car man, I'm not a traitor because I like cars that arent made by Lexus too (doubly funny since Lexus vehicles ARE Toyotas). Thats 12 year old stuff.

You can get a list of what has been updated, its worth a shot. You can only get the update from Lexus.

Your nav system does not have a CD, its a hard drive based system. In order to upgrade the maps you have to replace the entire hard drive, and unfortunately they stopped making new updates for that system. I think the last one you can get is 2005... Do a search, there should be plenty of info here on the subject.
