  6. Details Of Ford Plant Closures Due In January Xinhua Financial News - November 23, 2005 Motor Trend :( Ford Motor Co will give details of its downsizing plans, including plant closings, in January, chairman and chief executive Bill Ford said. Asked after a speech if the number two US automaker would make further cuts in the wake of the General Motors announcement Monday, Bill Ford declined to discuss details. "We will have plant closings to announce," he said. "I am not going to give you a number today. We're going to do that in January as we said we would." General Motors on Monday said it will close at least nine plants and eliminate 30,000 jobs in an effort to remain competitive and restore profitability. Bill Ford said it was important to give the executives formulating the restructuring plan adequate time to come up with a long-term solution. "I need to give them the time to get it right, and we'll announce it when it is right," he said in a question-and-answer session following a speech at the National Press Club on the need for government and industry co-operation on energy-related challenges. "And right now, we think the January timeframe is the right time." In his speech, Ford argued that industry needs to keep investing despite the difficult conditions. "Now, more than ever, with the competitive pressures of globalization, America needs to respond to the economic challenges of our time," said Ford.
  7. Fuji Heavy indust to build Toyota Vehicles in U.S. Toyota & Subaru didn't waste much time since Toyota took over shares from GM.... B) Japan's Fuji Heavy To Build Toyota Vehicles In US AFX News Limited - November 23, 2005 From - Motor Trend Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd, the maker of Subaru vehicles, is expected to produce 100,000 Toyota Motor Corp vehicles annually in the US from 2007, the Asahi Shimbun reported, without identifying any sources. The newspaper said a Toyota vehicle production line will be built at a Fuji Heavy factory in the state of Indiana. Toyota president Katsuaki Watanabe and Fuji Heavy president Kyoji Takenaka will meet on Dec 5 to confirm the broad framework of the deal, the Asahi said. It will be the first meeting between the two executives since Toyota became the biggest shareholder in Fuji Heavy last month, when the auto giant purchased Fuji Heavy shares from General Motors Corp, the newspaper said. :)
  8. That's actually a very good website dc! Thanks for posting.......I agree with many listings in my area & learned of a few more I didn't know about. B) Where were you in August? lol I got nailed by one of the traps posted lol.
  9. Is this when the car is already warmed up to operating temperature? When was the last time you had a major tune up? But yes, sounds like the IACV is a possibility. B) Welcome to the club btw! ;)
  10. Well don't take it back to that shop again......that's a basic item to replace during an oil change.....if they didn't have the right drain plug gasket, they should have ordered one or at the very least, mention it to the customer. M1 & K & N filters are decent yes.......Amsoil is quite popular too. ;)
  11. What does your owners manual say about what time & mileage to replace the TB? My advice would be to change the WP at that time as well, but follow the owners manual's suggestions. B)
  12. Anywhere between 1.5 - 2 U.S. gallons when the 'fuel' light first comes on from my experence. How 'FULL' do you fill your car? ;) I can get about 2 1/2+ gallons more after the 'trigger' stops on my ES........right up to the top of the fuel 'neck' which isn't good really to fill it that much. B) ← I stop fueling once the gas pump clicks off. After which, it clicks off right away again if I try to fill it up some more; but 2.5 gallons more is a lot. ← 2.5 U.S. gallons (9.45 litres) give or take isn't that much really........I can put at least 8 litres in after the first click going 'slow' on the nozzel. Every model is different due to different tank sizes. B)
  13. Just a basic oil, lube & filter change right? Shouldn't be a huge deal......bring them the oil & filter if you like. ;)
  14. Nothing wrong with Bosch o2 sensors........they actually invented them & have used them in the past myself without any problems. $600 seems quite high to me however.
  15. I love that colour! B) If I were to buy a 2005 or 2006 ES, it would be in Blue Shale Mica! Very classy. :) What colour interior?
  16. I don't know if this is going to work but, I will attempt to post a picture. ← Is that the Blue Shale Mica colour? B)
  17. Well said dc.....I have to agree as I have had 3 K & N filters on my last 3 vehicles & never a problem even after being re-oiled.......just have to make sure you follow exact instructions. ;) A little hesitant however to install one on my wife's Subaru Forester.......not a happy buch who have put them in on the Forester club forums.
  18. Never mind lmao Forgot the - (dash)........I tell ya night shift is killing me! In the words of Bill Engvall..........Here's my sign.... :whistles: :chairshot:
  19. Just wondering if anyone knows (or somehow I missed it) if lexusparts.com site is just down or is no longer in business? I've tried for almost 2 days now to check out their website & I keep getting the 'page cannot be displayed' deal.
  20. What brand of air filter do you mean? B)
  21. Wouldn't ya know it......this noise I have been having was making the sound right up until I was stopped at the traffic light just before the dealer on my way in for the inspection.......the tech (shop foreman) who was doing the inspection has been ubable to find anything! They had to keep the car over night (parts were on order) so I am going to follow up this morning to see if they have any 'good news' for me. Will update... (I took your advice steviej, detailed the problem on the work order, but the tech can't seem to make the noise recur). If still nothing, I might ask the shop foreman to go for a drive with me so I can (hopefully) have him hear the problem. If anyone has any other ideas.....I am all ears.
  22. In the case of the Toyo's, they are a much older tire now compared to back then mburn & are nearing the end of thier life cycle.....with more newer tire technology available like the TT's as an example. B)
  23. Nope, my 01 ES is recommended for a V speed rating, but should you only be able to get an H speed you will be more than fine. B)
  24. Thanks sk, According to the Lexus dealer, my 'rear sway' bushings were loose & will be in need of replacement when doing the 96k inspection. Only thing was, they were not able to tell me specifically if these items would be covered or not under my Lexus extended warranty. Happy to report, I received a call late this afternoon that they are in fact covered under warranty & will be replaced. B) Any idea how much (roughly) these bushings would be to replaced (parts & labour) should this not be covered? Just curious is all.
  25. Agreed.....sooner is my guess, but I hear ya! B)
