What tire size do you need 4R? Hi blue, The Toyo's yes are out of the picture....overall I was happy with their performance, but it was time to move on to something better. Goodyear Triple Treads will be on my 01 ES by the end of this month & they are flat out the very best available on an OE size premium all season. H or T speed rated with an 80k mile treadlife, plus they were 1st overall in a recent Consumer Reports test (Nov 2005) of some 18+ all season tires. Your absolute best bet would be the Goodyear Triple Treads. I am trying to obtain a copy of the most recent CR tests in which (as stated) the TT came in first place overall. The Triple Tread has an 80,000 mile treadwear to boot! They will be on my 2001 ES befor the end of this month (Nov, 05). B)

Sure he can, but he doesn't truly know what its like to struggle for business usinonly the laurels of your business skill and professionalism as your selling points. People hire him and call him because he's cheap. I have to work to make people realize I'm worth what they spend. Its two totally different ways of doing business. I'm not saying discount brokers are bad, they're not, I know excellent discount brokers and excellent full service brokers. Discount brokers don't have to sell themselves as hard though. But, then they have to do a LOT more business to make what full service brokers make so it evens out in the end. I personally believe however that the discount service model is seriously flawed but thats a topic for another discussion. Its definately a different experience though, being discount and being full service. Its like selling cars at Carmax or selling cars at a normal dealer. As for getting a good price, nothing wrong with getting a good price. Responsible consumers though need to do their due dilligence and figure out just exactly what they'd be willing to pay for the car and go from there instead of trying to skrimp every last dime out of the salesman. If you don't think car salesmen do deals where they make NO MONEY, then you don't know any car salesmen. 100% commission folks, if you like the guy don't lean on him for the last couple bucks. Most car salesman are like most realtors, they never make more than a comparable minimum wage job. ← Check your PM sw.......no worries about your comments (or opinion), but you haven't been in the game long enough, nor with enough experence to fully comment on what you describe as 'a discount broker'. You would be eaten alive at the negotiating table. :whistles: The days (as far as real estate is concerned.....agents & brokers.......smart folks deal with a broker, not an agent) of full commission (what is that in you neck of the woods, is say 5 - 6% fair? ) are LONG gone & educated consumers already know this. Consider the commission of a $500,000 home as an example.......at 6% commission, that's over $25,000! (divide that by 2 if were talking a home worth a quater mill) your kidding me!?) To do a listing, some misc paperwork (days of 'open houses' are over too for the seasoned btw) & maybe a late night or two? Are you willing to tell me you would gladly pay 5-6% commission for that vs. a 'discount broker' for the same services? :o So my dad offers the exact same services & then some (free advertising as his expense, arrange financing, home inspection, lawyer services, along with many other attractive features) at a very discounted rate. So salesman experence aside, who would you (or anyone else reading this) want selling your home? :whistles: My Dad won't waste time (his or others for that matter) with those who can't do math very well. If wasting money intrests you, good luck with that. ;) Any idea(s) why my someone like my Dad (or anyone else doing the same thing) is able to undercut the big gun's like C-21, Re/Max, Coldwell Banker & the like? :whistles: B) Car sales are a tad different than real estate all things considered (we can get into the specifics if you like)......but as everyone knows, they are the 2 of the largest items we will spend our money on in our lifetime.

Yup, you are correct......the Triple Treads are not available in that size. :( From my inspired list ;) I'd go with the following in order... - Falkens Ziex ZE-512 - Michelin Hydroedge - Goodyear Comfortread - Michelin Harmony - Michelin MXV4 Plus Remember, no such thing as a perfect tire........no matter what you choose you will have to sacriface something to gain something else. Let me put it this way, if you get the falkens & don't like em, you out of pocket $212.00! So what!? ;) Do you think (regardless the type of car here) I would put my wife at risk safety wise by putting inferior tires on her car so we have a few extra bucks lying around? Not a chance! If they were $200.00 more total, I would have paid that......despite the fact her '50 series' are only good for 30,000 miles & your '65' series are good for 60,000 miles! B) Failing that, the Comfortreads are better overall than the Harmony's......you will be wasting your cash for pretty much the exact same tire.

The main reasons for your experiences are probably such: 1. The 06 has 17 inch wheels, your 04 has 16s. The 17s have a stiffer and louder ride than 16s. 2. The 330 has MXV4 S8s, the S8s are supposed to be a little bit louder than the MXV4+ (which is what I have) but are supposed to have better traction. 3. Air pressure, I'm sure yours are pressured correctly, a dealer car almost definately is not. As a side note to everybody. I get to buy tires again, yay! (I'm really a sick man lol) In the rain this weekend we realized the Prius really needs the original Goodyear Integrity's replaced (my fiance slid into a curb, irregardless of VSC. She's fine, I drove the car and the traction is EXTREMELY poor) so we're switching cars Wed. and I'm going to have the Prius serviced and some new rubber installed. I was originally going to put the MXV4s on it but one of her primary concerns is traction (versus noise for me) so I'm thinking about those TripleTreads. Plus, while I was comfortable putting $650 worth of tires on the Lexus to get the quietest tire possible, I don't think its neccisary to spend that much on the Prius. Only downside is some Prius folks have reported degrading fuel economy with them... ← I'd go with the triple treads too sw! & yes you will notice a slight decrease in fuel economy with them........a small price to pay considering all the positives & hey, it's a hybrid to begin with! :whistles: :P B)

Did your mechanic change the fluid in the diff todd & is it a seperate drain plug? Do you notice that your occasional 'harsh' shifting is more noticable when the car is cold when the tranny is shifting from 1st to 2nd gear? Then smooths out when the car reaches operating temperature? If so, that is totally normal. B)

We have pretty severe winters here in Toronto & I use Amsoil ASL 5W 30 year round in my 01 ES. I don't see the need to use both a 5W 30 & 10W 30 for the different seasons. Stick with the one you find works best for your car & use it all year. B)

I have four new tires Falken St115 alot better than the Zeix you were thinking of for cheap. $350 plus shipping for all 4. ← They are not in the same category as the Ziex 512's.....were talking all season performance (ziex 512) compared to UHP summer tires (ST 115).....so it's not apples & apples. One won't get the mileage or longevity out of the 115's as the Ziex. ;)

Nice looking ES & welcome to the club! B) Has the timing belt (and water pump) been changed at all? I didn't notice that on your list of things. Keep on top of all your regular maintenance (oil changes, tranny fluid changes etc) & she will run like a top. B)

Glad your happy with them thus far Dark! B) They are slightly harsher in ride because of the very agressive tread pattern. They should get a little better once you have couple thousand miles on them. Try putting the pressure around 32 PSI & see what that does. Make sure you rotate them every 6,000 miles as well. B) The TT's will shine when the snow starts to fall however. B) Enjoy!

Toyo Proxes TPT in a V speed rating. The Triple Treads I can get in an H speed rating.....only 1 rating down which is no biggie. B)
