  1. ditto homelink buttons light up and have the light pointing down... I believe the concept of the light is just to illuminate the center console area while driving at night, with out having to "turn on" the interior lights... kind of useless but I like it… allows my wife to fumble around a bit with out total darkness… I belive they are just ambient lights... There is a also a matching set in the "feet" area. I find it strange that some years of the RX has illuminated homelink buttons, and other years don't. In my case I have a 04 RX and it does, so it not like the older ones didn't and the newer ones do... Although now that I think about it perhaps where they are manufactured makes a different. Mines Japan (I think) I'll verify... So here is a question those of you that do have the homelink buttons that illuminate, where is your RX manufactured?
  2. They also light up in my '07 RX350. Hi, the "1,2,3" numbers on the homelink buttons light up for me - 04 RX330.
  3. WOW, I can't believe I just read most of this thread... Man I must really be board at work today... "When starting your vehicle in the snow" LOL... I must say you have to hand it to the technical writers over at Lexus... Great Job!!! I think the majority of the folks will read it as intended... but it is the job of the technical writers of the manuals to ensure it be an easy non ambiguous read... I recall when I read the manual my self when I first purchased, I was like "what.." and had to re-read a few random sections of it, to get the full grasp... my .02, on this riveting thread...
  4. glue it in? I guess you could try that. But I'll tell you right now, it won't last, prbly not worth the effort. My key has broken in the past, and I find that the easist and cheepest approach, is to order the case from ebay, average cost $ 5, and then replace the guts into the new one and then get it laser cut for $40 cash, and my local locksmith... And then you basically got a brand new key.
  5. YES YES, thank God, YES. That alone was worth 200 bucks. :) But the override to allow for input while moving is won't work... DOH!
  6. I've been rolling on Kumho's in the winter for a couple season's now. great tires. no complaints. In regards to 2 or 4 I'd recommend 4, people often think that the purpose of winters is to get you going in snow and ice. That is only partially true. Winter tires also keep ones car on the road in turns and what not. I've driven a fwd with only winters on the front, it is simply not the same when in comes to control when it comes to having all 4 winters. I found that i would loose my a$$ end when going on turns and or curves. If your after safety, then all four, no brainer. If its a cost/affordability thing... then you should weigh that against the cost of safety... Some shops nowadays refuse to put only 2 on a car, from a legal accountability point of view.
  7. Since about last week my TPMS light goes on, but not all of the time. It went on once last week. When I restarted, it went off. And didn't come back on until this morning. All of the tires “appear” to be OK. I haven't actually checked the pressure as I don't have a gauge with me, but I will on my way home. Any ideas what can be causing this. And how many PSI under the recommended pressure will cause it to go on?
  8. And don't forget your spare. Going to the mountains in the winter triggers my idiot light due to the spare being cold. Really. The TPMS monitors the spare. I did not know that....

  10. My winters are Kumho's I'm up and down the mountain all winter snowboarding. No issues. Decent price point.
  11. Wow, now that's some detail, I appreciate it... I'm going to give it a whirl (once I get my dye) I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks.
  12. If you want to re-dye the leather yourself, you can purchase a bottle of leather dye from magicmender.com and spray it on. What color interior do you have? If it's the tan (same for all 99-03 Rx300's) the upper dash/steering wheel color is "dark taupe #13". Not sure about the gray or black though. Or you could just buy another steering wheel on ebay. They go for about $50 the 99-00 versions and $200 for the 01-03 wood/leather ones. CDULUk, I've seen the work that you've done on yours, well done btw. I've got an 04 RX and also have a discoloration issue of the steering... Do you think that the "dark taupe #13" you mentioned above would be the same. Second question is it pretty easy to work with, is it really just a matter of taping of the rest and spraying and waiting to dry, or are there other steps that should be followed? Cheers
  13. Continous?!? I am having to replace my Rotors now, because they are warped. This is the first time that i am having to do this. Your post sounds a little scary, what would cause this, or in your case, what would cause it to be "continous" is this a known issue on RXs. On other vehicle I've done this job my self. Is it as straight forward, or do i need to keep anything special in mind with this vehilcle.
