  1. Bring your car up to the potholed roads of the northeast and give it a month and it will be singing like a canary.... haha Get on their butts and make em fix the roads. You all pay plenty of taxes from what I hear. TOO much graft and corruption in Massachusetts. Something like on 10 cents of every toll dollar gets spend on roads - the rest disappears. Seriously the roads and weather eat the car alive...
  2. Not sure - but I think the AWD has a bump into the drivers side foot well from the center console (center hump). Also (not that they couldn't have lowered the car) but the AWD sits higher then the RWD version. Event once you have looked at a 350 and a AWD 250 on the dealers lot. You can get 3 or 4 fingers between the wheel and the wheel on the AWD. Now some may lower the car, but no one is going to take a stock rear wheel and raise the car. If it says AWD it most likely is.... and if the AWD goes out I would suspect a lite on the dash

  4. Personally I have found no difference in rattles and creaks by model year (07 - 09). I have an 07, and they have chased noises for 2.5 years. Found most. But still some. I had an 09 loaner and can not only hear the sounds - but now I know exactly where they are coming from and what the fix will entail. To the original poster. This is a fact of life with this vehicle... and yes it is quite disappointing. however my local dealer makes every effort to hunt the problems out - even after my warranty period, it's just good business. Mixed emotions about getting another when I hit 100K in a year. Best looking car on the road with fabulous service and no mechanical problems. But the noises still annoy.
  5. RECALL may be more then just the mats: http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-toyo...,0,739395.story
  6. Have an 07 IS same color. No problem with icing on Camera - although I garage mine at home. Shouldn't be a problem. Enjoy . I drive 500 miles a week too. Got to 60,000 miles real fast.
  7. It is removable and replaceable by a professional installer. The product is a one time use - you can't reapply it. And certainly can't install yourself.
  8. I have a small gap maybe 1/16" on one side and at the top. Probably due to having the dash removed twice and replaced because of the infamous dash board rattle/buzz. The issue with the dash is simple - it's one piece and difficult to make adjustments on it. That is the reason for the rattle/buzz as well. The gap doesn't really bother me.
  9. I would do it. I have it on my car (Black Sapphire Pearl). 1/3 up the hood doesn't bother me. The paint on the Lexus is too soft not to do it. I also had it put on my wife's new MDX. I too was skeptical. I did in both circumstances ask for a better price. I think I paid 550 -600 on the Lexus and $500 on the Acura. I wouldn't put a mile on the thing without it. The longer you wait the harder it is to get the stuff on without any in-perfections trapped beneath. You will be kicking yourself when you are constantly walking around the front end of the car with touch up paint.
  10. ++++++++++++++++++++++ I would just have it checked out I don't see a problem. (See if it had the 60,000 mile service which is a big one $$) My 07 250AWD has similar mileage (60,000 miles US). I did however get an extended warranty which is only available if you get it before you hit 50,000 miles. I would say they only thing that would be better would be to get a certified pre-owned directly from a Lexus dealer with Lexus with coverage to 100,000 miles (160,000km) - at least that's how it works in the US
  11. Bottom line. They have you. The update is $300 period. I have the nav. and I personally chose not to update. I wish Lexus would just team up with Garmin, like they did with Bose. Leave the nav. to the pros. They should let you update on-line - what is this the 15th century? :) I still mapquest things if I am in a rush (especially on business trips) just in case. The best part for me is when I am at a late meeting at say 11 pm and I say home... and it takes me there :) Wife just got Acura MDX, there is no lock-out while driving - which is a huge complaint on these boards (which BTW I am not sure is a great idea given what I have seen in action!), but interested to see how the system compares in terms of map and address accuracy. Although... I love my IS - so forget the TL. My IS rocks...
  12. I know this has been covered before at some point, but can anyone give me a quick answer on the best leather cleaner/conditioner for the leather and/or plastic in the car. I have a tan interior and want to know if there is anything I can use to assist in removing scuff marks. Also if anyone knows of any product that I can pretreat surfaces with that will make future marks easier to remove.
  13. I have a 07 IS 250. My wife needs a AWD vehicle that holds 7. She is looking at the 09 GX and also a CPO 06 GX with 48K. I know this thing hasn't had a makeover in 4 years (witness the tape deck in the 09!). I frequent this Lexus forum. Any positive or negative comments regarding a GX purchase would be appreciated. Also with an impending release of a new 2010 model, you think they are likely to want to clean house of the 09's - when is the 10 due out?
  14. I'd say for the engine and almost every part is different in the IS-F. With the C, the only difference is that it has 2 doors and the top drops!! I don't have an opinion on this either way - I leave that to the Moderators. But I did hear that the only sheet metal on the car that is the same as the 350, is the hood. All the other sheet metal is different.
  15. Does not sound like the regular mirror vibration problem which occurs with sunroof open. They will swap out for a new mirror with no issue. I did have mine replaced for the sunroof issue and quite frankly never noticed a difference - still tends to vibrate. But not anywhere near the level you speak of.
  16. The paint on the car is very soft. I was told this before I bought the car and got the clear bra (autoban). Definately worth doing on a brand new car. In 2 years and 60,000 miles not any damage to the front bumper - an occasional nick on the upper hood which I just touched up. For you I would say repaint the bumper and have the clear bra installed. As an aside just to illustrate how bad the roads are in Massachusetts, I have replaced the license plate surround 4 x from getting chewed up by road pebbles.
  17. Humm...that happened to me once. I was driving the car hard on an exit ramp - shifting down and then bang the same thing happened. That was about three weeks ago. I am going in for an oil change in a fe weeks and was going to see if it had registered a code I was told anytime the check engine light came on it registered a code... I too turned off the car shortly after the lights came on hoping to "reboot" which it did. I'll let ou know what happens to me. In 2 years a 60,000 miles that is the first mechanical issue to ever happen. .. I recently bought the 7 yr/100000 mile extended warranty for $1005 US so I am not as worried about it... I see you have the IS 250 and you just got the 7/100k warranty for $1005? I just purchased an IS 250C and bought the same warranty for $1365. Where did you get your warranty? Thanks, Gary First of all ..my BAD... it was 5 yr /100000 at $1070. I bought it after I drove the car 49000 miles. I first called the guy in Greenfield MA at Toyota of Greenfield - it's listed somewhere on this site althought you can use the search function to find it - I think his name is Troy he quoted me $1070. Then I got the quote called Lexus Corp to ensure it's for real, although they did say that although Toyota can sell it ..they shouldn't be doing it!. Then went back to my dealership in Central MA and asked their price which was $1750 - I asked them to meet the price and they did! $1365 is still a good deal for 7/100,000. Because I drive the car 25K a year by year 4 I will have 100,000 so 5 years worked for me.

  19. I do the shifting thing .... but more power is better. I need a IS 350 with AWD...LEXUS are you listening??? I heard the Infinity G35 has AWD that disengages after a certain RPM, which gives you the AWD when you need it and the power of rear wheel drive when you want it. Anyone know if that is true? Of course the car doesn't have the good looks.
  20. Best thing to use is a cloth diaper...I am not kidding
  21. If you have them change out the rims on a car before delivery they should credit you something for the existing new rims. also. Also which Lexus rims (upgrade) are you looking at. I would shop the rim you are looking for on the web with different dealers/suppliers, which may get you a better price to then go back to your dealer and negotiate. They make their money on these extras, but there is alot of "play" in the price - so don't just roll over. Hindsight is 20/20, but next time negotiate the price of the vehicle with the rims ( and all the options) you want, rather then making the deal and then adding on. Just my 2 cents.
  22. "Intelligent Sport" and the engine is actually 2.5 liters - 204 horsepower As for the rest of the models go to : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexus I think they go into it for the other vehicles.
  23. Thanks for the info. I wonder if I can cancel the policy and then call your guy in MA? I would immediately call the guy in MA and get the quote, then I would go back to your dealer and tell him either meet that price or cancel the policy. I would say to the person ...listen in these economic times I can't justify overspending on this item... I have done this on other items in the last 6 months - just can't afford to throw money out the window. INSIST, certainly if you did it within the last 3 days - there is a "three day right of recession" on anything like that - that's the law. If it was longer - they need to do it in good faith as far as I am concerned, especially if you are planning on servicing your vehicle there.
  24. This is NOT a decision that you need to make now. You have until 4 years/49,999 to make that decision. Secondly shop it around. The Genuine Lexus Platinum Warranty for 7yrs/100,000 miles w/ $0 deductible is about $1415 and 7 yr/75,000 mile is $1130.00. But I shopped it around and called a guy who is recommended in one the the links on this site: Troy Dietrich Toyota of Greenfield 12 Olive Street Greenfield, MA 01301 413.772.0989 In my case I drive 25 K a year (and I was up to 49,500 on the odometer) and he offered me 5 yr/100000 with $0 Deduct for $1070.00. This is the real deal not a third party warranty I then went back to my dealer who has serviced the car for two year religiously and spoke with their finance dept. (they sell the thing). She wanted $1650. I told her of the offer I got for $1070 and would prefer to spend my dollars with them. She called me back later in the day and meet that price. So shop it around, don't pay retail on this and you have time. Hope this helps.
