You sold a matching 64 Impala??!!!!! :chairshot:

I have been looking into LED's for the dash to change it from Amber to white. I see the speedo looks easy enouph, But I haven't found the right LED's yet to do them all. I have already changed the dome light to LED. ( That really looks good!)

The worst car I owned was a 1996 Dodge Cirrus. A/C went out twice in the first 10,000 miles, the driver seat broke!! then we started having power window and lock issues. Windows would just roll down on their own for no reason. Sometimes the power locks wouldn't lock, or would only lock the driver door not the rest of the car. Man was that car frustrating!!! I finally dumped the car after the windows wouldn't go up and it rained that night. I took it to the dealer and said " No more!!!" We ended up trading the car in for a used Honda Accord. My first car was a 1969 Camaro POS. I dumped alot of green love into that car for nothing. My favorite car and best car: my current 2005 IS 300. I have to say that this car really fits me and my lifestyle.

I think we've hijacked this thread, :o I'll start a new one for LED's because I actually have alot more I wanted to discuss.
-
The 168's are 2 bulb, and the 194's are the single bulb. I guess I figured LED has to be brighter than incandecent, but you may have a point. I thought 4 bulb would be way to bright though.

Thanks guys. I am also a fan of the " Not overly modified" look, while trying to stay stock. But you have to be real world also. And Pimp my Ride is stupid!!! But that's TV. They have to to go the extreme with everything now.
-
I have the LED's in the garage for the plate!!! LOL! that was going on next week. I just found 168 and 194 LED fit ins. The have the same housing but convert to LED. I have to take the trunk carpet off the lid to get to the housing though. Seemed like alot of work for when I didn't have anything better to do.

Here's my set up : Everything is touch screen. If your listening to any audio or watching any video, while nav has a route programmed, it will automatically pause that function to voice direct you along the route. And everything looks as stock as stock can be in my opinion. B) Behind all the stock grills I have Polk Momo compititions, 2 Alpine amps mounted on the back seat in the trunk with full amp covers, and a 10" JL Audio sub that thumps! And no one is the wiser till they hear it.

Sound Proofing/deadening
smooth1 replied to Mad Dawg 350's topic in Audio / Video / Electronics Forums
Dynomat extreme. You can buy the full car kit for around $270. Works great and won't fall off after a few years. -
Dude, you need to look at the Pioneer Avic-A3. Touch screen nav. DVD player, Xfm, Sirrus, HD radio, 3 AV inputs, and this is even better, IPOD direct with video. So I have 30 gigs of stored music, and can watch movies from my ipod. And with the 80 gig Ipod I have even more space. So you don't even need a CD player, or DVD player anymore. And for 200 bucks more I can add a TV tuner and watch the news on my way to work! Everything works right off the touchscreen. The ipod sits in the glove box. It also controls the subwoofer, has a 16 band touch screen EQ, with phase control, and has DSP settings including Dolby digital 5.1 surround. Not to mention cool toys like on screen gauges, ( Speedometer, lateral G's, slope, directional, and clock) you can pick which 3 you would like. All this for around 900 bucks. plus install. You can keep the Lancer.

are you impressed with the car or the entertainment system?

I have to say though, Megiurers Gold wax is by far the best car wax I have found. I use the paste wax version and even on the Millinium Silver you can really see the difference! Last week I used the Maguirers Clay bar, then polish, and two coats of Gold wax. You almost need to put on your shades to look at it! B) So I think Griots Garage will have some proving to do before I venture there again. But I will try some of the other stuff. By the way, how does your hubby like the buffer? I thought it looked heavy and hard to handle if you had to reach out to the center of the hood. Kind of reminded me of a converted grinder than a buffer. I was just curious. They do have alot of cool stuff in there.
-
Oh ok, I get the Griot's catalog . HHmm, I often wondered if their stuff was really any good. Great!, the wife already thinks I have way too many different products for each different surface!! LOL! We have the old kitchen cabinets mounted in the garage and I have the main set full of just car cleaning stuff!!. She gives me a hard time about it,( In a loving, ribbing, sort of way.) ^_^

I guess I'll have to look into this lexol stuff. I've been a pretty loyal Armor all cutomer for a long time. Iv'e been using the new Gel series stuff. The dash and trim is nice because it's not to shiney. The leather gel I thought worked well also. But you guys are all talking about how good the Lexol smells, HHmm, I like the leather smell too. Is it at any auto part store? I don't remember seeing it.
-
To clean the glass I use a handled bonnet thing I bought from Autosport magazine. I am usually not a gadget getter but this thing makes cleaning the windshield and the rear glass much easier!!! After I Armorall the dash I almost allways get some on the windshield where they meet. This thing is thin enough to get down between the windshield and dash with no problem. And of course I use Stoners glass cleaner.

Okay, here is the update. The rims and tires have sold.

When I read about the IS-F it was just a prototype and nothing was said about going to production. When they presented the car at the auto show they still said nothing about the release date. Last I heard was the magazines calling it a 2008 IS-F. But nothing official. All the attention is on the LF-A which Lexus has confirmed will be their supercar. Iv'e seen video footage and that car is one bad boy!!!! So I'm guessing that Lexus has some decisions to make. Do they release the IS-F and the LF-A? It will be very interesting to see how they go about that!!!
-
The car I think your talking about is the LF-A. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/12/video-l...he-nurburgring/ And I think it's going to be alot more than 50 grand.

Going Through Dealer For Navi 6.1 Disable
smooth1 replied to jaycetan's topic in 07 - 13 Lexus IS250 / IS350 / IS-F
You'll have to see if there are any AV inputs on your stock unit. I f there are then your in business. If not then, it's SOL. Do you have the back up camera? If you do and you don't use it or care, you can unplug that and hook up your dvd player to that input. But as I'm typing this I'm remembering some new stuff coming out on the market now in response to everyone wanting everything in their car. Yeah, I think you might be able to use a control station. Check out the Kenwood KOS-V500 or the KOS v-1000. I know those have video in and outs on it. I'm not sure I have seen any other stations with full pre outs on it yet. -
Yeah I think they figured that out about 4 years ago when this was originally posted. LOL!

Alright, big changes in the garage. An opprotunity has presented itself that I just could not refuse. I just bought a Millinium Silver 2005 IS 300 with 24000 miles on it!!!! and every option available including the uprgraded leather with the heated seats. So that means I have had to redo everything I have done so far. What a long week it's been! But I have completed changing everything over. The audio system was a 2 day affair by itself, but complete and the stock unit put back in the 03'. The brake change over went smooth enouph, and everything else changed out nicely also. I now have a 2003 IS 300 for sale if anyone is interested. Also I have a stock 6 disc changer for sale along with all the stock speakers and stock amp. I'll post pictures of the new car later. ( It really looks just like the 03' only with the stock spoiler on it now.)
-
That's not an easy fix because you'll have to determine where the cable broke. I would take it to a Lexus dealer. They will probably get it open for ya for free. then of course sell you the replacement parts. But that will be up to you to buy them.
-
I have posted pics of the work I did on my car in the "Dream Ride" thread if you want to see what they look like.

2003 Is300 "noises" When Shifting...... Faint Rattle
smooth1 replied to yarsmang's topic in 01 - 06 Lexus IS300
HHmmm. That is strange. This sounds like it could be anything from metal coated cable that is traveling over a heat shield and when the vibration of either the motor or the trans hits it just right it could be causing an audible rattle. ( Remember that certian frequencies transfer better than others, and are more audible as well.) You also may have an EGR valve noise. The valve remains closed at idle and opens only under throttle conditions. You may have spark nock, a flat spot in the AF tuning, or a you could be hearing a rod noise from inside the motor.( Which is way bad. Lets hope this is not the noise your hearing.)
