  6. Iv'e been looking at some new shoes for the ride. I have bridgestones on there now, but they have a weird wobble sound to them. They ride smooth, traction is good, but the sound is annoying. Anyone have this problem? What tires are you running and what life are you getting out of them?

    I guess not. -_-
  9. I read this post a few days ago and have had to have some time to think about it before giving an answer. So here goes, I hope the limb I'm about to climb out on doesn't break. I consider myself a passionate enthusiast. Cars have allways had a special place in my interests. I can't tell you how many times my imagination has created the most awsome car ever, only to go to an auto show and find even better cars in real life just blowing my mind. I would take all these new ideas and gather them together to conjure up an even better dream car, allways torn between real world usability and the extreme. You want more, but, you don't want to give up anything for it. Allways seems to be the biggest challenge. And as time goes by I have gotten to know my car inside and out. almost bolt for bolt, to the point where the reference " it" just seems to not be able to display correctly the passion I have for all the work I have done to get this car to be mine. Unique. Many people have an IS 300. But no one has mine. And somewhere in that passion mixed with imagination and work, you feel as if you have breathed a bit of life into it. Now, no straight guy I know wants to have a passionate, and imaginative relationship with another male, so the obvious is "She". My quick example is this, have you ever approached your vehicle from an angle that when you looked at it you said to yourself "WOW, that's a great looking ride!!!" ? Of course you have. Just like when you were at the beach or someplace and a very attractive person of the opposite s*x walked by and you thought to yourself" WOW, now that's hot!!" We all know that human kind is a very sexual based exisistance. We are the only ones in nature to have s*x without the sole purpose of procreation, and do it for fun and because it feels good. So I think we tend to assign s*x to alot of things we are passionate about. BTW, my wife and my car are the to sexiest things I get the previlage of looking at whenever I want. And I work on my relationship with both, I compromise with extreme for real world living with both, I try to provide the best for both, they both cost alot of money and require regular maintenance, and I try to drive them both as often as I can. LOL!!!!!! So, do I need to go and see a counselor ???
  10. Yeah, in fact I have a 30 GIG Ipod that direct connects to my car stereo,( aftermarket, Pioneer AVIC-Z2). I have about 750 songs on it,( All sorted by playlists that I created.) And I have about 7 movies and a few tv shows loaded on it, which I can also watch on my Nav. screen. I used to burn CD's and lug them around in the car. Now I have more music than ever, all on a electronic device that's 3" wide, 5" tall and about 1/4 " thick! And when I get out of my car, I can take the ipod with me and just plug in headphones, or they have radios and stereos that have iPod docking bays and you can listen to it thru that.
  11. I think it may be safe to say that 1980-1995 were the worst American made car years. I think back to those days and it was all just crap then. There may have been a few bright spots along the way, but car quality has definatley gotten alot better since then. Even now, American made cars seem to be behind, but better than that period. Am I asking for trouble with this post?
  12. 40k and clutch is gone. yeah, it could be from getting beat on, it could be from just bad clutch operating habits. some times smaller people with weak or short legs sittng at stop lights for a long time could wear out a clutch quick also. the easy way to find out is to look at the u-joints and check the rear tire wells for rubber pellets. They usually end up behind the plastic under the body just inside the bumper. But go with your gut. Got a bad feeling, walk away. there are more out there for sale. How much are they asking for it btw?
  13. okay, I hear ya about the dealer messing stuff up and charging you an arm and leg for it. So, I turn it around on them. When something goes wrong that I just can't figure out I take it to them and have them diagnose the problem and then just fix it myself. Of course they are not allways right, but in this case, it might be a good idea. See, in the IS 300, you can have the dealer change the intitial function of the lock/unlock feature. For example, I had them change when I hit unlock once, it unlocks the driver and passenger front doors, if I hit it again then the rear doors unlock also. You can have it where all the doors unlock on the first time, or driver door, and driver side rear door combo. And they will change it at will whenever you want. So I would take it in have them under the guise of "change" and let them tell you what's wrong. In order to take the door panel off I would use a PLASTIC 1" putty knife. Slide the tip under the plastic piece with the door lock and window controls. That whole piece just lifts out of there. You will need to disconnect all the controls. In the main handle slot ( where you put your hand to pull the door closed) look straight down, theres a screw that will need to come out. Then there is one plastic pop tight on the edge of the door that will need to be popped out. Now from the bottom of the door panel, you have to lift it straight up and out . Be careful how far you go, ther are still wires connected to the speaker. Disconnect those and the door panel is off.
  14. Yeah, you have to stay on top of them. That's why I have found that being a part of this forum has been so helpful. For technical service bulletins, I go, http://www.edmunds.com/maintenance/Mainten...partner=edmunds Just enter your info and they will tell you the latest. In fact your O2 sensor is the first bulletin listed.
  15. HHmm, must be a stuck latch. Have you tried pushing down on the trunk lid while the key is in the unlock position to see if maybe taking the pressure off will help release the latch? Also, if you have a stong magnet like an old speaker, wrap it in a towel and slide the magnet side to side over where the latch would be in the trunk lid to see if maybe you can gain some leverage on the latch. Once you open it, if the latch itself isn't broken, I would consider cleaning it out and lubricating the latch real good.
  16. Clutch life depends on the driver more than the car. Some "ride" the clutch more than others. It's a self adjusting clutch, so I'm sure it is near the end of it's wear. If you know how to change the clutch and throw out bearing yourself will save you mucho dinero.
  17. would Den or Denny be short for Dennis?
  18. So, let me get this straight, and for the record,,, Lancer is POS with a descent iPod on the dash? Lancer Evo is okay in the performance end, but the interior still lacks, and the body still falls apart. Besides, I only ever see kids driving that car. My neighbor down the street bought a 2005 WRX, put stiffer springs, bigger turbo, nicer wheels, and performance tuned it. Man that car was fast....So he put it up for sale ( why?, he said the wife hated riding in it!! LOL!) Anyway, he was asking $24,000.00 for it. Then 6 months later he dropped it to $20,000.00 Still couldn't sell it. So he took all the performance stuff off and now drives it because he has to. What that has to do with the Lancer I have no idea, just seemed like a good story for this thread. LOL.
  19. B) Okay, I just ordered the 6 bulb LED's for the plate, and a Festoon base LED 12 bulb plate for the dome light conversion. I also went ahead and got the 6 bulb festoons for the map lights and a 2 bulb for the glove box. Now to look into the dash lights. Iv'e heard alot of stories about LED burnout in dash light conversions. I gues you have to have the right load resistor with certian colors or they just burn out. I want to go with white LED's for the dash and AC controls. So I guess I'll have to keep asking around. I wish there were some people who have already done this so I can find out what glitches there are along the way if any. I really don't wanna have to rip the dash out more than once if I can at all help it. Thanks for the tips Denslexusgx470. I would have put the LED's I have on and just suffered. Although I have to admit that I really don't care if the police can read my tag at night or not. I mean that is the only reason for the tag light anyway, right? But on the other hand I agree with you that the 4 bulb or more LED looks way cool !!
  20. Yeah, I try to stay out of the soap threads. LOL
  21. Okay, I'll go and get the 4 bulb. BTW, Looks great!! Way better than the blue bulb thing you had. Did you say you saw 6 and 12 bulb also? where did you see those?
  22. Okay, I have decided I want to go with a supercharger system on the IS. The problem I have encountered is the fact that I would like to be able to turn the system on and off when I want. Anyone have any ideas? The supercharge I want to use is the Raptor belt driven. I am also going with an intercooler.
