  1. I have several things for sale. Everything listed is located in Florida. First off I have a 2003 IS 300 with 30,500 miles on it. I have pictures and all the details for those who are interested. It's Millinium Silver with a black interior. Stock everything. Garage kept and all service records. 30,000 mile service was just done and cost me $950.00. I'm asking 22,000.00 I have the title in hand. No payoff, or liens. I have a stock premium 6 disc head unit out of a 2005 IS 300. Perfect condition. I also have the amp and all the stock speakers. I will sell part or as a bundle. I have a K&N typhoon cold air intake for a 2000-2005 IS 300. Brand new in the box. Retailed for 240.00 for sale. I also have a stock set of rims with tires on them for sale. tires have less than 10,000 miles on them. Rims are stock 17's. All of this will be for sale here for a few weeks. Then I'll list them on Ebay after that. The car is already listed in the auto trader as well. If I have to ship anything, whatever it cost me to ship is what it will cost you. So let me know where you are and I will find out how much it will be to ship. We will have to work something out for the car if you are far away. Just so you know, the car is for sale because I bought a 2005. The stereo was replaced in the 05, and that is what is for sale here, The car is in great shape, I take very good care of my cars. I have a verified paypal account. I can also accept credit card payments if you prefer.
  2. when you say a 3k rpm shift noise, are you saying the car is shifting from a gear to the next at 3k rpm? Or are you saying that under load as the engine passes 3k rpm it makes this noise? going up the revs or coming off the revs?
  3. okay, I 've read this post several times and figured I was not going to respond at first. But as I thought about it I concluded what the hell. It's only opinions right? So lets get the facts down and then I give you my opinion about the rest. If you get an IS 300, yeah, get an 02 on up. although there are slight differences on the 04-05 also. But they are small, such as auto door locks, and power seat memory settings. The 00-01 has what I equate to cheesey plastic and cheaper material on the seats, and a few other small issues. But mechanically speaking they are all great cars. The car is way tunable. There is a ton of aftermarket support. You don't have to do an engine swap to get to 600 hp. The JZ motor out of the Supra a really nice motor, and if you want to go that far you can. Again, these motors have been around long enough that most paths have already been travelled so you have alot of info at your finger tips. 600 rwhp is going to take alot of work though. But if you know what your doing with a wrench then I think you could be there without much trouble. There are guys on the MyIS forum that are easily pushing 600 hp and more. Now heres where we get subjective. The suspension stock in my opinion is sufficient for the car the way it comes. But once you start adding power then I think you need to lower it an inch or so, and stiffen it up. Tien, Tekico, Greddy, they all have nice upgrades that are proven. Now heres why I chose the IS 300. On one end of the spectrum you have what I would call focused sports cars. On the other end is the luxury line. I wanted quick but I want some toys with it and it had to be life style freindly. The Mustang is fast. Looks good to. But the interior is crap. No HID, manual AC, etc. etc.( Plus it's a 2 door.) BMW, in my opinion if you get one it has to be the M series. M3 is 2 door again, and not to mention pricey to buy, and even more to work on. Corvette is way to focused to live in that car, and Mercedes Benz C230 is a 4 banger, C350 is a 6 cyl. and I thought the only other real contender until you look at aftermarket support. there really isn't much of one at all if any. And what there is is big dollars again. Then there is the WRX, and Lancer Evo options. Again fast cars, but no nice nice to come with them. Volkswagens are way to slow, and front wheel drive. Acrura is also front wheel drive and doesn't handle as nice. It feels like a way bigger car. The Accord is Fugly, and Dodge is well, lets just not go there. Nissan has the Altima and Maxima. No and No. How much else is there? I think the IS 300 is a perfect car for my lifestyle. Quick and nimble. Not to big, and not cramped. Nice toys, and fit and finish is awsome. the interior is just way nice. I even like the IS 300 better than the new IS 350/250. The new IS is bigger, and seems to be more luxury than sport to me. Now it seems like a luxury car that has sporty characteristics, where as the IS 300 is a sports car with Luxury characteristics. I just like that combo better.
  4. Yeah, sorry about that, Lextasy seems to not have the link there anymore. I just checked. And l-tuned does have it, you may need to call them. Ask for Carlos. ( I think that was his name.) Anyway, tell him what your looking for and he'll be able to hook you up.
  5. If your running stock rims and haven't changed the tire dimensions then you may just need the chassis lubed and sway bar bushings checked as Bartkat mentioned. I just changed out all my brakes. I ran into nothing special or different about these brakes from any of the other hundreds of cars I have changed brakes on. In fact if there is anything it was the ease at which Toyota made it to work on. I switched to steel braided brake lines, EBC green pads, Power Slot Cryo slotted rotors all the way around, painted and decaled the calipers. Start to finish one Saturday. Transmission: how many miles do you have on the car? If you haven't done a transmission flush every 30,000 miles or less, then I don't recomend doing it. Because there will be alot of tarnish on the gears and bands. If you flush it, it will clean all that tarnish off, and then there will be gaps there, and you will have hard shifts and even gear slipping. And yes, you don't have to replace the transmission filter. In Lexus / Toyota, the filter is really just a fine mesh screen. So unless you have a leak, I wouldn't bother dropping the pan. As for power steering flushes, yes, fluids over time break down. So I would at most use a turkey baster and pull the fluid from the resevior and replace it on a regular basis. It's easy enouph to do regularly and will keep the moisture out of the system.
  6. The amp is located next to the glove box. Yeah you can easily bypass it. Just remove it, or disconnect it and wire it from there. question; are you installing a new amp? or are you powering the speakers from the head unit? Do you have stock speakers? the reason I ask is this: If you plan to run speakers from the head unit, your better off using the stock amp config. I would wire to the amp in that case. If your running a new amp then obviously I would remove the old one, but be very careful as the stock speakers can't handle that much power and tend to fry under their low ohm rating. If you have aftermarket speakers then you probably already know that the stock amp doesn't push them very well, so the head unit would probably sound better pushing the power, but you should still couph up the 2-300 bucks and buy a real amp.
  7. If you do the demon eyes, you should do the halos at the same time. That's what I did and they look awsome!!!
  8. Yeah man, I think the best real world decision is to go with slotted. I wanted drilled also, so if I were racing the car at the track and was replacing rotors and pads every few races anyway, then sure, but thats not happening. The braking improvements I have now are incredible. I doubt I would see much more for the price they are asking for big brake kits. When you say run them at 80% you mean with the dimmer dial control on the dash? How about a pic so I can see what they look like? I see the speedo light looks easy enouph to change. the others look like alot more work though. BTW, when your rotors come in and if you decide to paint the hubs,( I painted mine black.) You might wanna find an alternative to high temp spray paint. I went to rotate my tires the other day and where the hub and the rim come into contact the paint has all chipped off. The sides of the hub where you can see when the wheels are on still look fine, but I have a feeling that as time goes by I may start seeing more chipping. I'm thinking about having them powder coated. We'll see if it becomes more of a problem.
  9. If your not planning on doing any other mods to the car then sound will be the only real benefit you will get. If you want the non extended you can go to Lexastasy.com. They have it there. Also you can check http://www.l-tunedparts.com/index.php I have ordered some parts from here before. What else have they done to the car?
  10. okay, sway bars are on the car. I have decided to wait to put the chassis bars on as I may need to remove them for other planned mods. I have decided after much debate, and lots of reading time that I will go with the supercharger. I have been talking with Yan at Myti Auto and we are going to put together a front mount intercooler, and run a 10 PSI system. Next week I will begin ordering the headers and exhaust system. Our goal is to get to 400 HP with as linear a torque curve as possible. So, here we go....
  11. You can get a 20" rim on it. There is a guy in here that did it. But I don't see why you would want to. The ride is way to harsh I think. 19" is the real max and of course I'm talking if you don't want to change the outside dimension of the tires. That's where you generally run into trouble. If you want less space in the well I would go with 18, maybe 19 at the most, and a 9-9.5'' wide rim, then lower the car an inch. That's the look you want in my opinion.
  12. I wanted to go with the blue at first but the more I think about it I think I like the white better. What colors did you guys go with? post some picks so I can see ? And I haven't heard of the burnin out issues. So when you say your running at 80% you mean your not turning the dial all the up to brightest? Why won't the LED's run at full ?
  13. Okay, anti-sway bars are on order. I decided on the the L-tuned front and rear set. I also got the chassis bar to go with it. So now I wait, and continue to research turbo or supercharger...........
  14. I guess I would have to many questions for the guy selling the car to list here. But that isn't to say I wouldn't buy the car. But some questions I would definitaley ask is if he put 20k into the car and had all that work done professionally, why then didn't he put an O2 sim on to fix the cel? And why is he selling the car after all that work? How many psi is he running? And are you qualified to maintain that car? You do realize that the car is going to require maintanence that is not covered in the owners manual now right? 20K for the car doesn't sound out of line, but I would have the car checked out, maybe even Dyno it for absolute numbers. 3 pulls for 70 bucks. Might be worth it to make sure the car is still tight and everything is working the way it should be.
  15. Seems like most people have had one problem or another with the stock CD players. And I haven't heard that burned CD's make any difference whatsoever. That's a new one to me. So, if you know you will have to pay for the work then I would either buy a stock CD player on ebay for about 300 bucks and install it yourself or have it installed if you really want to keep the stock look going. Or I would just go with aftermarket. YOu could probably get more for your money that way, and not have to worry about the CD player messing up again.
  16. The amp is located under the dash next to the glove box on the passenger side. The amp is about about the size of a sandwich with air cooling fins on it. If you want a stock replacement I would look on ebay for it. I have replaced the whole sound system in my IS 300, but I don't know that I want to part with any of it yet as I may want to reinstall it if I sell the car later. If you want to see the system I installed go to Dream Ride in this forum.
  17. front and rear anti sway bars, and I was looking at the Tenko or Greddy suspension systems. I also found a body kit that I like and so I'm doing research now on that. After I get that far, the decision for supercharger or turbo will need to answered..........HMMmmmmm.
  18. Alright, had another busy day in the garage. Brakes are done! Sunday I started at 11:30am and finished at 9pm. I installed the steel braided brake lines, EBC green pads all the way around and Power Slot Cryo slotted discs, painted all the calipers ( 3 coats) applied the Lexus emblems, then 3 coats of clear. Rotated the tires while the car was up on jack stands. Here are the results: A nice surprise was the way the green shows on the EBC's through the ends of the calipers.
  19. Then there must be several ways the different navigational systems can be installed. I have the Pioneer AVIC-3. Nav. system. Like I said earlier, I can watch DVD's while in drive, and have the nav telling me directions at the same time. In fact one of the screen options is a 3 gauge cluster that monitors MPH, Lateral G's and Dynamic G's, slope degree's, a clock, and direction. ( you pick which 3 you want as a cluster.) So, sorry about the misinformation. As I looked into the unit that is used by Lexus as a stock unit, they have put on some clever lock out features. And it looks like they are indeed internal features. ( In the Nav unit itself.) It amazes me at how different the aftermarket units are compared to the stock units. After looking at the stock unit, I have to say that aftermarket is soooo much better.
  20. yeah, theres a problem with the tranny. Mine shifts so smooth you can barely feel it. That's upshifting and down shifting. I would take it in and see if maybe the bands just need to be adjusted. As far as the mileage thats not even close to a problem. When you hit 230,000+ miles I would start getting concerned about wear on the engine, provided oil changes and etc. etc.
  21. The safety device your referring to is connected to the transmission. When the Car is put into drive, or taken out of park, it throws up the signal. You don't have to have the dealer do the disconnection. Any competent car audio shop can do that for you. And no, it doesn't void any warrentees. As to your other question about DVD, I have an after market unit. I can watch DVD's, videos downloaded from my ipod, or music, while having nav engaged the whole time and directing me all on the same screen.
  22. Were you asking about a DVD player in the nav unit? The system I have does that and more if that was the question. And as far as hooking a computer up i have an even better idea. How about a wireless keyboard, Computer drive stays in the trunk, and the DVD/ nav screen is also the puter screen?
  23. Well GDixon, I take it you don't use RainX then. :D
  24. I have been apart of some other car groups before. As I own the vehicle I like to get and exchange ideas from everyone who has a similar interest. I like seeing how creative, expressive, and technical people can be with their cars. And I like offering ideas and advise that can help other people. Especially if it's Modifying their ride.
  25. Sounds like you may have an ac leak. Ususally as the freon pressure drops, it won't engage the system and the ac fans stop as well. You might need to pressure test your ac. You can have that done at a Firestone, Gator Action Tire or some place like that for less than fifty bucks. Atleast you'll find out what the problem is before you go to the dealer.
