  1. sorry i own a 90 so i dont have it for 95. anybody?
  2. yes, right. its kind of puzzle, when overdrive light is on, it says .../OFF
  3. there are some onwer's manual on eBay, simply refine your search :-) yes, you can leave the overdrive always on but the car wont shift to 4th gear ECT = Electronically Controlled Transmission. when ECT/Power light on, tranny will delay some time before shifting to next gear for faster acceleration (compared to Normal mode)
  4. how did you pull the code? and what light is constantly flashing?
  5. 2- all 4 ls400 OEM oxygen sensor has 4 wire, 2 for oxygen sensor, 2 for heater, if you find your sub with only 2 wires, i assume that they have been replaced with non OEM, so no reading is obvious 1- there is a way to test the oxygen sensor "in action", but i cant find the manual for you now, sorry
  6. so whats the difference betwwen strut and shock absorber?
  7. dont know whats the difference between strut and shock absorber, cant answer your question. sorry
  8. i mean the entire hid conversion kit including projector at least for low beam, i saw some simply change the hid bulb producing terrible glare thanks
  9. how difficult largely depends on how techy you are. to me its not difficult as long as you have the right tools. it requires removing rear seat to get to the 6 nuts holding the upper ends of the 2 shocks, removing the bolds and nuts at the lower end of shocks is straight forward. you will also need a clamp (dont know how to call it correctly) that depresses the shock spring to replace the shock absorber. each KYB shock absorber runs you about 120 bucks
  10. is there a hid conversion kit for 1990 ls400?
  11. rebuilt one runs you less then $500, why do you need to buy old one http://www2.lexpartsonline.com/parts/parts...sor&dp=true
  12. i push the open button, it keeps flashing about 15 secs and stop, the cartridge is not ejected. any idea? thanks (1990 LS400 stock 6 disk pioneer changer in trunk)
  13. is there a cabin air filter on 1990 LS400?
  14. suspected areas: - water temp sensor - intake air temp sensor - TP sensor - Idle Speed Control valve - AC signal circuit - accelerator pedal link - dash pot - PS idle-up unfortunately a lot of things to be checked
  15. most likely you have electric connection issue. to narrowdown the causes i suggest - test the starter motor by connecting it directly to battery. if it runs well, proceed next step - check the ECU power source circuit have a question: which leads you to replacing the starter?
  16. if you are sure the cap and filter of the dash pot was missing after Toyota guys touched their hands on it. i guess you may want to go back on them and get them fix/replace the missing. it is there responsibility regarding if the DP goes well without filter and cap or not, sorry i dont know, but you can follow the manual to check to make sure the DP operation is as expected. glad to be helpful to somebody
  17. dont know if locking machenism is the same between ls and es, but in ls, if shift nob isnt in P i cant turn the key to off to remove it. there must be a "position P" signal sent from shift nob to ignition switch to tell it that tranny is in P and allow the key moving to off. this might be checked first
  18. dont think you need to disassemble that much (the stabilizer bar) to replace the front shocks, you just need to 0- jack up your car 1- remove the bold and nut that holds the lower end of the shock (item 1460 (106,143) in this manual 2- loosen the nuts holding the upper ends of the shock 3- remove the clip and nut that holds the upper arm and the steering knuckle (item 660(48,65)) 4- use a puller to pull apart the steering knuckle from upper control arm you can then lower the suspension enough to remove the old shock and replace new one good luck _stabiliz_stabilizer_bar.pdf
  19. try cleaning and checking dash pot first (manual attached) next should be IACV. you can find here the howto http://planetsoarer.com/ Note: soarer uses 1UZ-FE so engine is exactly the same as lexus ls400 dashpotd.pdf
  20. have you clean your idle speed valve?
  21. anybody knows how to test water temperature sender or knowing a source to find out. thanks
  22. your right, i dont think the TRAC light on would cause idle issue because the the TRAC throttle valve becomes useless when the main throttle fully closes fenceca gave a possibility of incorrectly installed TPS
  23. why did you replace the TPS sensor? dd you have any issue with idle speed before TPS sensor replaced? in my best guess, when replacing the TPS, the throttle valve can not fully close when your foot off acceleration pedal. this may cause by stuck valve or the acceleration wire has not enough "free-play" another area to check is the idle valve
  24. thanks lexls, i did search around the area where the wire can reach to but still no hope. it looks like for the water level warning switch, if it was the case a warning light would come up when those 2 wires shorted. but when i shorted those 2 wires, nothing lights up on combination meter! regarding non-US model or not, i have no clue to tell if its right or not. the car has all lexus badge including letter lexus printed on all windows glass except for the engine badge. wondering if the engine number can tell anything and how to check it
