  1. Hi qha_vn, most likely one of the idle speed level of the Idle Air Control Valve has problem, try this sort of maintenance and see if you can fix: http://planetsoarer.com/IAC/iac.htm hope this helps
  2. thanks leximus, appreciate that you could check in the manual. i feel something wrong cos newer cars have it lit until driver's belt is worn
  3. Its a bit strange hearing many people having this part missing, I opened that gearbox the other day and found that there was actually the stock part in place of the "garden hose washer cap" i am just wondering how it can be missing since reaching that part is not that easy
  4. Hi all, the seat belt light is on when i turn on key to acc (normal for lamp self test) when i start the engine without wearing the seat belt, seat belt goes off??? is the car cheated by previous owner? and how can i tell her the truth thanks
  5. i started the aircon today in diagnostic mode and received error code 34 (error description: Open in air inlet damper position sensor circuit. Or, open or short in air inlet sensor servomotor circuit. Or, air inlet servomotor locked) instructuctions from www.lexls.com does the error relate to fan stop? what should i do to fix this? thanks
  6. thanks dfkd for your reply, i also notice the "additional" fan speed in auto mode, but aircon ECU actually stops the fan when cabin reaches preset temp (in both auto and manual mode) which i dont want. i am just wondering if Lexus designs it that way or something is wrong with my car
  7. i set 74 degree F ("auto" mode), when cabin temp reaches that temp, the fan (blower) goes off (compressor goes off as well) but i think the blower should NOT go off is this normal in LS400? and is there a way to set the fan always on regardless compressor status
  8. my 1990 LS400 has perfect idle rev whenever aircon is on (650rpm steadily) but when aircon goes off, rev goes down to 550 and below causing unpleasant vibration is there an issue? and how can i rev it up to factory recommendation 650 thanks
  9. i just bought an ipod connector using a tape like connector, poor me i never checked before i ordered, the tape player doesnt work at all. it refuses to keep a tape inside could you post more detail on your work e.g. what is the 4PDT switch you used, wiring colors of CD R+, R- etc... that need to be cut and connected to the switch some tutor pix is appreciated thanks a lot
  10. gha_vn Can you drive faster than 70KMH in VN? I'm just curious... in most highways, max speed is now 80kmh, some newly built ones legally allow 100kmh. however, if you dont dare a ticket, road condition allows over 140 in a short burst
  11. thanks guys, i never know of that lovely secret until now. will give it a try soon :-)
  12. the actuator isnt that easy to break, if i were you, i would take off the door panel to check the locking machanism. sometimes its as easy as reconnecting a loosen electric connector, or the connecting rod that pulls/ pushs the lock. after the fix, buy yourself a drink and save the money
  13. glad to hear anyone's kid there is okay.
  14. looks like the teeth between wiper arms and the cole centers have gone
  15. Awesome, now when you say manual are you talking about the service manual or the actual manual with the car? I have the one that came with the car and did read through it but didn't see anything like that. locking and unlocking the doors is just the matter of triggering the door lock actuators via relays. Moving the shift nob to P, R, D... will result in turning on the shift indicator lights. this means we have an electronic trigger each time we change shift. To get the doors lock/ unlock in Drive/ Park position, simply modify the wiring harness so that a signal will be sent to locking mechanism respectively mine goes with a black widow remote control. it locks all doors when key turns to ACC (while all doors closed) and unlock doors upon engine turn off
  16. i guess the correct name should be MAF meaning mass air flow sensor
  17. my 1990 ls400 has an "Auto" button to activate/ deactivate the function, simply use it to deactivate auto mode. dont know why they remove it later. newer will not always better :-)
  18. thanks SK, could you please be more specific on the wrenches e.g. size also it would be great if someone can post a pix so i can get an idea of how the tools are seated in the box in my box, there is only one tube to change wheel, no torch, no wrenches etc. i will re-fill the box tia
  19. i have no idea of what used to be in the tool box, i want to buy the tool to fill the box. any help?
  20. so H4 is an improvement over HB1???? i myself find H4 the better choice in terms of popularity, would consider replacing HB1 side (around 250 bucks)
  21. Yes it is possible. not kidding, my 1990 LS400 has H4 on driver side and HB1 (9004) on the other side. Both 2 head lamp assembly are OEM
  22. it is the radiator fan relay box, sitting a bit under driver side head lamp assembly
  23. as i say, there is nothing to do with the alt or battery, but you may want to check to make sure the car starts fine proving battery is good. Is the radio on when engine is not running? if yes, next step is to check the alternator. if no, nothing to do with it logically. if the battery is fine, then how come the alternator is bad? bad alternator wont provide charge current to battery, battery can not be good
  24. dont need to panic since there is no complain for other electric devices, or the car wont start in the morning. i guess there is nothing to do with battery or the alternator this would probably be the issue of power supply to radio system. most likely poor contact of some components below, they should be checked first 1- the radio power/ volum button 2- wiring connectors in radio system 3- the fuse 4- radio system wiring harness the radio and tape player wiring harness attached may help you to identify the issue good luck radio_and_tape_player_wiring_harness.pdf
