  1. this is not the driver side door actually :-) and its not that bad i think you would need to remove the door panel from the door to get access to the inside, from there you can use resin to fix the broken parts. the resin i use called AB apoxy, its a 2 tube set, one called A containing resin and B tube contains hardener. simply mix same amount of resin and hardener and apply it to the cleaned broken part. the one I use is a quick epoxy that will set in 4 minutes (since you start mixing) and cure after an hour hope this helps
  2. since 1990 ls400 does not have a/c filter, i decided to make one. its easy and cheap, also you can replace or remove to clean easily why do we need it? 1- the blower wont throw dust into our face 2- air quality is getting much dirty than 17 years ago when there wasnt a need for a filter 3- clean inner parts of the a/c will maximize efficiency and durability How do I do it? you can too Lets see the final product Materials: - you will need a 3M pad that is used for cleaning dishes in the kitchen - and a sheet of metal net to support the 3M pad preventing it from falling down into the blower well Tools: very simple tools that i done need to list it here Steps: - remove the glovebox to get access to the blower thru the air inlet door. in this pix, i remove all the lower panels, but you dont need to - cut some of the plastic strips ao that you can put the filter inside - cut the 3M pad and metal net then make it like this. sorry i forget the measurements. you can measure it yourself easily - the other side of the filter - just put the filter in to cover the blower air inlet - now start your engine and make sure the filter wont touch the blower fan, and importantly the outside/ inside air shutter wont be blocked by the filter. When everything works well, you can install the glovebox back Conclusion: i spent about an hour to do all those things and result is good. materials may vary upon availability. i am thinking of buying a filter sheet used in home air con and cut into shape, it may be better but of course cost more

  5. i read somewhere, you can try the last 3 digits of your VIN, but dont try more than once, the radio would completely lock itself after 3 or 4 failure attemps
  6. More HP is interesting, "getting a Y pipe" meaning deleting the catalytic converters by swapping straight pipes in place of them?
  7. the door panel is a combo of several plastic pieces. It has a lot of non-reusable clips to hold the pieces together. when you remove you wont be able to reuse them. I normally use AB resin to fix the plastic cracks as it is as easy and cheap as eating a hamburger i think you better post a pix of it here, especially where it cracks. we may be able to help you
  8. i had the power steering pump replaced yesterday, the old one worn out and made so much noise. the 2hand SC400 replacement works great without the valve that lets some more air into engine at dead steering ends. Maybe i will be back to the shop and have them clean the solenoid filter. i think this filter is to regulate the amount of oil flow thus makes the steering stiffen in high speed. am i right? i also replaced the air con compressor as it was noisy, leaking. the 2hand repalcement works all ran me $650 happy owner now
  9. is that a pioneer or nakamichi? what is your model year?
  10. my 90 ls400 got similar issue, when rev is high i am driving a lexus, when rev is normal (600-700rpm) especially when i am parking the car or make a U turn, its like i am driving a ... truck also the power steering pump sounds like grn grn loudly when i start turning the wheel have it checked tomorrow, may be need a replacement
  11. i did remove the climate control, and all the ashtray, and center air diffusers to get access to the inside, but i could not find any wire for ignition illumination. could anybody please help to open your working key illumination light and find where the wire comes from
  12. i was told that the replacement should compatible with the stock amp or else blown off. is this right?
  13. removing the subwoofer is extremely .... simple :-) you simply need to remove the cover (intergrated with stop light) by prying it up using a butter knife. even better if you use your fingers to lift it up carefully once the cover is removed, you have full access to to sub speaker, nothing to do in the trunk i know nothing about speakers so cant suggest anything about a replacement
  14. you have my sympathy Alex. i am sorry for your difficult situation right now regarding the car, i think it should be taken thru a thorough cleaning before trying any engine start to prevent more severe problem. make sure you NEVER EVER try to start the car again before you have it clean up or you may end up killing the electric systems the ECUs located under globox were probably soaked with water, first thing is to remove, clean and dry them all. next is to remove the air filter, replace it if its wet next thing would be the engine compartment cleaning, make sure all electrical plugs should be un-plugged and clean (a RP7 can will do this great) next thing is to replace all oil: engine oil, tranny oil to save money, you can diy all those things with some helps from the forum people (i.e. service manual, tutor links etc.) thats why we are always here regarding the boss who fired you coz of this, he is a monster with no heart. by the way, do you have any insurance covered? hope you will overcome this soon
  15. i bought here (in Vietnam) only $60 per pair, fitted well, working great. dont know what's the shipping cost to you guys from VN, if reasonable, i can buy and ship it to you
  16. first thing, mine is 1990 ls400 pioneer cd changer, make sure you have the same or at least similar if you have the same as mine then can you eject the cd cartridge? and when you get err message on the cd player display say on dish 1 can you select dish 2? (you may get same "err" message, but this will ensure you have had the saem problem as mine
  17. my CD changer recently failed to play some CDs, sometimes it can play, sometimes it can not when I tried to change from 1 dish to another. sometimes i could not get the cartridge out of the changer. i removed the changer, disassembled it the finally managed to identify and fix the problem. it was becasue of some worn teeth in the mechanism that actually moves the dishes in and out of the CD optical head. I put a plastic strip in between the back of the worn teeth and the steel pole dont really have enough time to write up a tutor, but if someone has the same issue and want to fix by himself, i will try to post some more pix up pic 1 shows where the plastic strip is, i use AB adhesive to position it there pic 2 is after the electric motor is put in pic 3 everthing is in place enjoy
