  1. i am trying to figure out where this plug is connected to, no clue so far, it locates near the fuse and relay box, looks like it goes from the bottom of the box car still runs fine except for error code 4&5 i have posted in another threat the pix attached show where it comes out and hows the plug looks like pls help
  2. if its the case for the temp gauge, nothing to worry about
  3. just to make sure that we are talking about the same thing, do you mean the 2 electric radiator fans just behind the horn and in front of the radiator? if yes you can follow the manual to find the radiator fan connector, unplug them then using 2 wires to connect directly to your battery to see if they work (each fan at a time). it might e the easiest way to make sure those fans are still good be sure you disconnect the negative (-) terminal of the battery before working on the car by the way, is your car running hot? the water temp gauge should stay in the middle if normal, if higher your engine may be running into problem
  4. OEM service manual is here Engine_Control_Module__ECM__removal.pdf
  5. pls follow this manual cooling_fans.pdf
  6. longer video might not help but increasing file size thus reducing chance for people to download and watch it, it is the whole cycle actually. it just repeats the same flashing patern I found a tech guy here http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/codes/ saying that there are both 1 and 2-digit diagnostic code in Toyota OBD 1 system where code 5 and 6 equal 12 (RPM signal) and 21 (Oxygen sensor)
  7. the engine ECU is in the kick panel right under the glovebox. to get to it, you need to remove: 1- the glovebox (marked as 0 in the pix) there are 4 plastic clips that hold the glovebox in place, 2 on floor and 2 on the ceiling of the glovebox, simply use a taped flat screwdrive to get them out. then remove the glovebox outward 2- then the cover #1, once the gloxebox removed, you can access some (4 if i still remember right) that hold cover #1. note: there is one covered by the door seal 3- remove cover #2, use your common sense to find the bolts, be careful when remove cover#2, the ECUs are attached to it you may not need to remove cover #3, but if you do, remember to unplug the lamp wire hope this helps
  8. got the same problem with the shift lever, the other day, i could not move it out of Park, the shifter button was locked. i then move my hand from the shift lever, released/ pressed brake pedal several times and it worked again. i think this is the issue of either the button electric lock or stop light switch i never know that if the shifter button wont work we can still use the overdrive button to move it out of park
  9. its under the dash passenger's side
  10. just wondering, my engine RPM meter is running fine, why can i get this error code? 6 RPM signal (Crank Angle Pulse)
  11. thanks zlilz for your help check engine light had already been on when i bought the car 6 months ago, somebody covered the lamp with back adhesive tape. so i cant see any difference before and after the engine light on yes, i do have ability, tools to test the oxy sensor (i guess a digital multi meter and some simple wrenches) by the way, is the ECU trying to say code 5 and 6? have you had the chance to download and watch the movie? thanks a lot
  12. Ha ha ha, cant help agreeing this statement "the most important thing you can do to prevent damage to your cars is to take them to repair shops as infrequently as possible"
  13. Dear Dan, i follow Toyota system diagnosis vie TCDL attached Dear zlilz, appreciate any idea from you Toyota_system_diagnosis_via_TCDL__total_control_data_link_.pdf
  14. i finally record the code in mpg format with a Sony DSC-W30. could anybody please help to translate the error code. link is below, about 6MB only http://www.wikiupload.com/download_page.php?id=158365 thanks

  18. since seat memory is an option, theorically, you can order all the needed parts and install it yourself. i guess the seat hardware and mechanism inside is the same except for seat ECU, wiring harness, and setting switch combo on driver's door
  19. i guess you should measure VAF resistance again (make sure the unit is correct) if the reading falls between spec range then VAF is ok i dont know for sure if VAF and air temp sensor can be replaced individually, you may want to verify that with a lexus dealer
  20. 1- error code 31: your VAF (volume air flow) meter's resistance is amazingly high, if you got the reading at the right terminals (THA and E2) it needs to be replaced 2- error code 24: intake air temp sensor is placed inside VAF, check instructions attached
  21. thanks SKPerformance, i also found some how-to in details
  22. i want to replace the rear shock absorber on my 1990 LS400, anyone has a tutor document? thanks
