  1. sorry i mean water comes into the car from only one corner of the sunroof. i know there are as many as 4 drain holes/ hoses letting water out of the car
  2. sorry i didnt take the pix when i remove the glovebox. below are the steps, please try to imagine, i will make pix and post them later there are 5 plastic clips with screws holding the glovebox, 3 at the bottom and 2 at top. simply unscrew them a little (pls note they wont come out all the way but just loosen from the hole) then use a small flat screwdrive to pry them off the hole (both the screw and outer part). once you remove all 5, its the time to remove the glovebox. use a flat screwdrive taped with electric tape or a butter knife to carefully pry the glovebox out, starting from the top left corner. Be CAREFUL not to tear off the leather once you get the glovebox out, dont remove it all the way out, but a just a bit until you get access to the back and undo the glovebox light wire. it can then be remove giving full access to the inside re-installing it is just as easy as that but again be CAREFUL not to allow the sharp edge of the globox tear off the nice leather cover needless to say, at your own risk :-) enjoy
  3. most likely your wife is drinking p/s fluid, check the level and fill it regularly before you bring it back to toyota. running low fluid may seriously damage the pump
  4. noop, major comes down from front right corner (above passenger seat) and from front left corner under really heavy rain
  5. i removed the sunroof glass one sunday and pour water directly into the hoses and water was all coming down to ground. i then used electric tape to cover the gap between roof metal and the glass, then pour water again over the roof, water still comes into the font seats through the gap between the weatherstrip and the glass (not the metal roof) the experiment tells me which one is bad
  6. i did search a lot during last 2 days, still no hope is there a way to "restore" or repair the existing one? any idea?
  7. whats your ls model year? my '90 doesnt have struts for trunk, only for hood
  8. got ls400 with 90 miles on it. i open the sunroof glass the yesterday and found that the weatherstrip is torn and hard. it allows water comes in between the glass and the support metal and then down to the seats where can i buy the new rubber weatherstrip? thanks
  9. i googled string "JTHBN30F" and I am sure it is the correct start of the 17 digit vin, i played with the remaining string with many different possibilities ie. O in place of 0 (zero)...etc all wont work if the vin is designed for international use, could it be altered or faked? btw, my friend confirms that he read the vin correctly coz he did it with another person
  10. a friend of mine wants to buy a ls430 2001, he send me the VIN to check but i cant find it on carfax or is-it-a-lemon. he said he is really sure that he read the VIN right any idea? is the VIN different in markets other then US? if yes, where else can i check? the VIN to check is JTHBN30F200044354
  11. mine doesnt work too. in your case, previous owner might change the button cover from a black/or dark color car (you know provided some different interior color theme to match with exterior paint) so the button color doesnt matter, you may need to have a look inside the seat but sorry i dont have a tutor or manual for ls400. however, i have one for SC400 '90-92 not sure they are the same, do you want it?
  12. try pushing the backrest support button up and down to adjust the headrest level

  14. i replaced my ls400 ps pump with an SC400 one without that problematic valve. there is no difference before and after the repalcement, steering wheel dead end wont decrease rev noticeably. Driving feel is now even better. i would think we should "delete" the valve to avoid any future issue to your steering system.
  15. anybody thinks that we can get kind of signals from the tranny that indicates the current gear No. in some car like Mazda 3 AT, there is a gear number indicator says 1,2,3,4...etc when the tranny shift automatically from 1 to another. looking to the number we know that it is running at which gear and when it shifts to another, quite useful huh? any thoughts?
  16. am wondering how the illumination light works, i notice that the driver door lock illumination is just on when I open it, when the door close, it does not light up. Is this setup right? I think, in dark, the light is for me to easily find where to insert the key to open the door but it wont light up until i open it then what is it for? another question, the ignition illuminator will be on WHEN, and WHEN it goes off? anybody?
  17. lucky you, that car would cost me at least $80k in VN
  18. LS is one class ahead GS, like BMW Series 7 vs. series 5 or Mercedes S class vs. E class. So if I can choose, LS is my choice definitely given that purchase cost difference is not considered
  19. SK, its also what i suspect, however, i dont know exactly how TRAC works in slippery road condition. would the TRAC really lock out engine when it senses slippery condition?
  20. thanks for the idea, i wish to do a search but have nothing in mind for the key word to try i.e. "water" "under cover" any idea?
  21. i drove home last night under rain, the car was fine before i ran over a pool of water on the road. just after running over the water, my car did not respond to my acceleration pedal when i stepped on. it just rev up to about 1000+ rpm and no more keeping the car going at 20 miles per hour max. And this symptom just disappeared after 5-10 minutes, everything worked fine after that. i had this problem before when i ran over water the other night but it disappeared in my 2nd step on gas pedal Has someone experienced similar issue? what could be the cause mine is 90 LS400 with 90k miles on it, no engine under cover, TRAC light sometime on but most of the time its off thanks for any idea
  22. some epoxy resin is claimed to be able to hold up to 2 tons, simply make sure that we use the right one in the right way
