  1. I am going to replace the breaks and the rotors and I see that there are many to choose from. Does anybody have any advice on which rotors besides the stock factory rotors? Thanks Jeff
  2. I have an 2001 LS430 with 118,000 miles on it. I have no idea how long it will go but I look forward to 200,000 miles with little trouble. Jeff
  3. Hi, I just bought a 2001 LS430 and I have the exact same problem. I didn't check it at the dealer si since I bought as is I suppose they won't help but I am going to try. I hope somebody can help us both out with this. If I find out something I will let you know. my e-mail is sx1jeff@yahoo.com feel free to e-mail me if you find something out. Jeff
  4. I have been looking for reasons to go places all day today! My daughter says that she " feels like a princess" when she rides in it. The heated back seats give her something to control herself and at 7 years old it's a big thrill for her. Hell it's a big thrill for me to play with my own heated front seat!! This car has so many gadgets and gizmoes that I spent all last night reading the owners manual. The smooth way the car accelarates is really something to behold. I looked down and I was going way to fast!! I don't have a clue how to post a picture or I would. I am not the most computer savy guy around. Jeff
  5. Well, I finally made a buying decision. I got a 2001 LS430 with the sport package. It has 112,000 miles and as near as I can tell every option except the air stability suspension. The car was purchased for 16,000 and it has all records back to the first service. I drove it home almost 600 miles and it drove like a dream.I bought it from Lexus of Reno and it passed their service check with flying colors. According to them ( I have heard other dealers say it as well) they don't really market cars over 100,000 miles unless they are super clean. Anyway, My wife is happy and my car search is finally over. Now I am an owner instead of as looker. The car is sort of an off white called Midnight mica pear white or some such non-sense. It is a very nice color. Let me know what you think of the deal and don't hold back. Jeff
  6. Hi Guys, I have finally narrowed down my buying decisions. I am looking to buy either A) a 1998 LS400 with 80,000 miles. It has all service records to day one and had the starter replaced recently. The guy won't budge much off of 13500 dollars. It is a very nice car and really doesn't have a mark on it. #2 is a 2000 LS400 with 105,000 miles. The same story as the first except the owner bought it as a lease return with 30,000. What do you fellas think? I have seen cars for less money in both years but never one as nice or with a 100% verifiable history. I really would like you guys to tell me the truth and don't hold back Neither car has Nav as I didn't want it and the 98 has heated seats. Other then that they have the same options. The 2000 can be had for 14,900
  7. I was on this site the other day and somewhere I clicked on a link that showed the diffrence between each year of the LS400 and it showed all the diffrences and changes that were done each year. I can't find it now. can somebody point me in the right direction? Thanks Jeff
  8. Hi Guys, A local dealer has a 145,000 mile LS 430 car for 16,500. This car has every option except the lazer cruise control thing that slows you down when you get to close to another car. The car has every record and all work has been done by a local Lexus dealer. How afraid should I be of the miles and how many of these cars really go 300.000 miles? Would you buy a lower mile LS 400? What does everybody think? Thanks in advance I am new and just learning about these cars.
  9. Hi, First post for me and I apologise if this is the wrong area. I am buying my first lexus and have narrowed it to a GS or an LS 400 1999 or 1998 unless I can get a better buy on something newer. With proper maintaince what can I expect to get as far as engine life? This will be a city driver with perhaps 5,000 highway miles per year and 5,000 city miles per year. It will be babied as my wife will be driving it. I am loking only for guidelines and nothing specific as we all know that car to car they will vary. Thanks You in advance. Jeff
