  1. That's right. Simply added to the existing sub to augment the low end. I have the crossover turned all the way down and the gain at barely half.
  2. Installed an Infiniti Basslink in my 2003 LS430 UL last week. The Levinson is nice but I like the improvement. There is more low bass and with adjustability in crossover and gain you can tune to suit your needs.
  3. I'm was loving the air suspension on my '03 430UL until the front stuck on high. Now the dealership thinks replacing the two front sensors will solve the problem. However, the sensors are nearly $422 each plus installation. Sensors: Part Number 89405-50060 (front left) 89406-50060 (front right) $422 each One: Has anyone found a better deal on the sensors? Two: Has anyone successfully installed height sensors? Three: Why would both sensors fail at the same time? Should I expect the rears to fail soon as well? When working propering, the air suspension is very nice. It's plush on the Norm setting and Sport is nice as well. With so many great deals on UL's out there it's a shame people avoid them because of the air suspension. How can we solve this and retain the factory air suspension?
  4. Hey everyone, thank you for your input! Although I miss my 2000 LS400 I really like the 430. I can't say either is better than the other - both are great. The Lexus dealership just completed a thorough inspection of the car. If you will recall from my first post I was concerned about the brakes, stereo and air suspension. Results: - Brakes are fine, just some rust on the rotors from sitting on the lot so long. - Stereo is fine (although I think i liked my nakamichi in the 400 better than this Levinson) - Air suspension needs the front sensors replaced. $1,000. That's it. Everthing else is working as expected. Thanks again for the input!
  5. Sorry it took so long to post pictures. Please disregard the dealer's sign. I didn't want to take the time to crop that out. Thoughts?
  6. Hey everyone, I just bought a 2003 LS430 Ultra. I know you have opinions on whether I got a deal or not so let's hear 'em. First, the facts: 2003 LS430 Black/black 90K miles Ultra Package Nav, Levinson, Chrome Wheels, reclining massaging and heated rear seats, sunshade, dynamic cruise control, park assist, side airbags. heated/cooled seats No Accidents, clean title, etc. Complete main history except NO 90K service completed Some minor paint scratches but no dings Rear speakers may or may not be working Needs tires Needs brakes Overall condition I might rate it 8 of 10 for the year and mileage. Price paid at the Cadillac dealership, $21,250 out the door. So, what's the verdict?
  7. AND THE RESULTS ARE IN The shop replaced the TPS. They performed some calibration and I have the car back. It's running fine and there is no sign of the problem. Total cost to run check engine light codes, test throttle components, replace TPS and calibrate was $502.00. Thanks to everyone that posted! Hopefully this thread will help someone else along the way! Better yet, hopefully no one else ever has this problem!
  8. Just heard from the shop and they identified the problem. Throttle Position Sensor - TPS. Other throttle related components tested to spec. Otherwise, they performed a complete inspection and were impressed with the vehicle. They said the LS's are known for being "extremely solid cars". Yeah LS400! I have to say that at 140k miles there are few cars I would rather own with 1/8th the miles. Any quesses on what the TPS replacement will cost?
  9. Scheduled an appt at a local import shop. I'll let everyone know how this turns out. Thanks for all the input!!
  10. Driving down the freeway in my 2000 LS400 at highway speeds the accelerator went COMPLETELY dead - nothing on the other end of the accelerator. The car continued to run and coast and everything looked and felt fine (lights, radio, etc) - only there is no way to accelerate or even maintain speed. Check engine light came on and of course the VSC. Correction, if you mash the pedal ALL THE WAY to the floor that car re-engages and has the same affect as flooring it. Therefore, either you're coasting or taking off like a rocket. NOT GOOD when you're in traffic! This happened about a month ago and comes and goes. The car drives fine for a few days then suddenly this occurs. The check engine light and problem may last a day or even several days. Replaced the MAF sensor (about a ten minute job), no fix. Has anyone heard of this? Any ideas?
  11. I'm interested. What will it take to see some pics? Incidentally, what are the major breaks in model years for the LX? Thank you!
  12. Nothing against the dealerships here in Minneapolis, I've had nothing but great service from them but they are a little pricey. Does anyone know of an independent mechanic around here that specializes in Lexus or japanese imports? Thank you! Also, I'm selling my 1997 LX450 with 96k miles on it. How much $$ should I expect to get? It has the locking diffs and all the other options. Excellent condition. Thanks again.
  13. I'm thinking about putting the L-Sportline springs and shocks on my 2000 LS400 that has 104k miles and original shocks. I already put 17" wheels on it and to be honest it did reduce the ride quality a little. I'd like to lower it a little, plus reduce some of that space between the tire and fender but at the expense of ride quality, I just don't know if I dare do it. Any thoughts? How much reduction in ride quality are we talking about here? 50% or 10%? I can live with 10%. A guy (or gal for that matter) buys an LS for ride quality. Ruining that really wouldn't be worth it.
  14. Thank you all. Here's a pic taken from the side. Please forgive my amateur shot - not helped by the fact it's overcast today. Someone asked the mileage; 103k.
