  1. Thanks a bunch you guys, I'm gonna change the fluid at soon as the temperature outside goes above the teens.
  2. I believe the OEM ballast is from denso and phillips is the manufacturer of many OEM HID bulbs, if you got 7 years of use out of the OEM parts then I'd say stick with the oem stuff. If you can get the part number then maybe you can order the part from http://www.irontoad.com/ but you'll have to ask for a quote first. The xtralights site seems to offer a variety of aftermarket kits but it looks like their main goal is to offer color options of your HID's, if you want to change both lights and ballast as well as the color this may be the way to go but I'm not familiar with their company or brand, but if you just need the bulbs you can find it elsewhere for less. Remember the brightness of the bulb and the color temperature(K) are inversly related.
  3. wearing gloves when you install your bulbs?
  4. I used to worry the same way when i first got my GS, especially after having a cadillac that had an overheating problem, but thats the normal operating temperature on these cars, if it starts to fluctuate then you need to look into it. You should be fine.
  5. The pepboys on Rt 25 right where it intersects 347 has a bunch of seafoam instock.
  6. whistle = opening either a crack or loose or disconnect hose in most vehicles.
  7. Same here, I just got 260 miles out of my last tank i haven't gone to fill it up yet to get an exact mpg, but i always buy my gas at the same place, Sunoco on Hempstead Turnpike across from the coliseum. If not there then a Shell station on route 347 out in Selden, I'll post my mileage later today.
  8. that was my initial though, swap the bulbs and isolate the problem, if its on your 2006 es i'm not 100% sure but shouldn't the ballast be under warranty? If not you can find good denso ballast and phillips HID bulbs on ebay but they won't be cheap.
  9. Those Performance Chips are just overpriced paper weights, but if you want to buy it to try it out please do so but please look for my items on ebay as well, I'm selling magnets that make your fuel more effective and cure arthritis.
  10. go with the dexron III although i've heard from many lexus well respected members of this site that I could use ATF+4 also
  11. I got my GS300 keys from ebay, i have a 2002. I got one for $20 without any remote features and one for $75 that was OEM made by denso, both have the lexus logo and both work 100%. They both came with programming instructions that were fairly simple to follow. All i needed a locksmith for was to cut they keys, that cost me $25. This was the one time I wasn't disappointed by something i got on ebay.
  12. Is it an OEM HID? HID Bulbs do burn out to... not often but it happens, but a dim purple light, the only time i've seen that was with a defective ballast on some cheap made in china HID kit.
  13. I agree with the bad part theory, I spent a nice chunk of change on an A/F ratio sensor from denso just to have it be defective, sometimes bad parts happen to good people.
  14. I wonder if these little pieces of metal would stiffen up the gs frame a lil, someone front me the money and I'll try them out with a full review to follow... hey it was worth a try.... eh i'm doubtful of them anyway... i just figure that if something so small and simple would be effective then how come the millions put into R&D at toyota couldn't come up with these? also would they be diverting stress to other parts not designed to withstand it?
  15. I have a 98 GS300 and I get 18/ 25, Sometimes I push it and on the highway I can get close to 26-7 on the highway @73-6 mph. I always burn primo, K&N air filter..............??? I must be doing something dreadfully wrong, hmmm i should get my alignment checked again... or maybe gas on the island just sucks.
  16. Thanks for the confirmation Dr. Z I reside in Uniondale LI, Get some service done at Ralley In Glen Cove, but commute about 100 miles a day going back and forth to stonybrook. I don't think my driving habits are helping my fuel economy but I'll try driving like a normal person for two tanks and see what numbers i get. I clean my throttle body every 10k (gets really dirty) and change my air filters fairly often. My tire pressure is 31psi (nitrogen) on stock wheels w/ Michellin Exalto's V-rated. I got 16.2mpg on my last tank, but i did some "irregular" driving on that last one, I'll see what I come up with this week.
  17. After my GM and Catera woes, Consumer Reports led me to lexus, I'm glad they did.
  18. Italian Camaro .... if you've ever lived in queens you'll get this.
  19. If its new or a CPO i believe it does for a limited time. Just get Triple A its cheap and comes in handy especially if you have friends that drive rust buckets.
  20. A little bird told me that without a piggyback ecu you may trip your CEL light and there will be no power gains w/o some type of management system.
  21. Cadillac nor GM will ever have my business.... especially after how they screwed me over being an owner of a Catera
  22. Yep it does... even worse when the stoner old brother forgets what state he parked in. Although the explorer and acura are in florida right now... the only car that was purchased new was the mazda and mitsubishi.
  23. ... just patiently waiting for feedback here to begin the planning of very own turbo charged unicycle, i mean gs300...
  24. I'm not 100% certain but wasn't there something odd about the GS's fuel filter, like it being a nonservicable part or something? Back to the issue on hand, Nick did you always get poor fuel consumption or is it only recently? I live on Long Island also and my past few fill ups have shown me numbers of 15mpg which is the worst I've ever gotten. I do accelerate hard but I think there is just more ethanol than usual in the gas come winter time.
