  1. Is this the same deal with an 02 gs300? and where if there is one is the pcv valve?
  2. Just wondering if anyone else got a letter from toyota extending the warranty on that sludge prone V6 of theirs?
  3. I had some issues with wheel vibration before, i tried getting all my tires balanced but no luck, I'd get wheel shaking at speeds between 60mph then gradually reducing above speeds of 65mph... The other day I got 4 new Michellin tires from costco installed and balanced w/ nitrogen inflation and they were great. However same thing... I get vibration at simular speeds but the car is smooth again at about 75mph... could it be that i need to get the control arm bushings replaced? if so has anyone ever had that done? are the daizen ones i see for sale on lexus sites any good?
  4. yeah... I'd just say if you feel better doing your service at a lexus dealership try another one. My dealership, Rallye Lexus of NY charges about $1000 for the 60k service... which is still way too rich for my blood.
  5. For a couple of weeks now I hear what sounds like something that sounds like buzzing followed by a tock that gets activated when i press my brakes regardless if the car is in motion or not. It does not happen everytime i press the brakes, maybe every 5 or so times that I apply the brakes. The sound is not coming from the wheels but rather from the engine compartment. Is this at all normal? 02 gs300 53k
  6. You could just skip the harness and do it the old fashion, somewhat painful way... splicing..... of course on the cars I've worked (mazda bose, infiniti bose) I had to bypass the amp... i'm not sure if thats the case here. goodluck on your harness search.
  7. On my car: 1993 Lexus GS300 its on the top (near firewall) on the drivers side. Its in the valve cover. I didnt notice the date until now so you probably found it but just in case anyone else might need to know. Thanks for the reply, I never actually checked it out, been too busy, I think I'll take a picture and circle which peice i think it is before i pull anything out.
  8. hey, you need an AF sensor, get them at like oxygensensors.com, i got mine there for my 2000 solara. As for the location, i'm not sure how to post the PDF but I'll try, you can email me directly if it doesn't work, i also have some other service pdfs. brokenstuff@repairman.com I have to change the b1s1 sensor but have yet to do so out of lazyness and preferential treatment towards my gs3... not to mention its cold outside and I don't really know what i'm doing. yay for DIY parloc2.pdf parloc.pdf
  9. Just stay away from those pledge wipes, sure they smell great and clean pretty well, and hey they even make driving alittle more fun if you enjoy struggling to grip your steering wheel. :chairshot:
  10. Great question. I myself can not see a little bit of my actual headlight because my driver's side lense is soaked with water on the inside. What i have read and am going to try in 2 weeks when i have free time is basically take out the headlight and spray it with something like windex or any liquid with color or soapy water, anyway, so first you completely spray the entire housing top to bottom (after removing all lights and electronics), then use a fan to blow inside the housing and look for the hole or crack that is letting in the water. A lot of SC's have this problem because it is a factory defect. Once i try it I will post some pics with hopefully good results. I've never removed the lights on my GS, but I guess I've got to give this a try, everything looks awesome on my car except for the fogging in the lights. I hope windex won't damage that slight green tint.
  11. I'm doing my maintenance one peice at a time as my budget allows, I was wondering where the PCV valve is on this car if it has one... I think Its on the top(passenger side) of the engine, but If thats it then the guy at autozone gave me the wrong replacement valve... lil help?
  12. sk said it best... use a heat gun and some dental floss... don't burn your paint as heat guns get really hot...
  13. I spent some time asking around and pulled the oem HID's out of a wrecked car, I used sets from a gs430, and even use the bulb and ballest from and unknown infiniti... I paid $100 each for bulbs and ballast, and used the original housing... although I've been told thats illegal in NY, but so far, no ones bothered me.
  14. So i guess the FRAM filters I get at walmart are just over-rated? I got a bunch of free toyota ones with my car and use those... should i just sell those on ebay?
  15. I have an 02' GS300 with 50k on it, since I've gotten the car I've noticed that I sometimes get static when trying to play CD-r's I've tried switching brands, buring and lower speeds, but I still get the problem, sometimes when i make a left turn the static gets worse, I'm guessing that something is out of alignment but i'm not sure how to fix it. any suggestions?
  16. the wiring if probably reversed... ie.. negative wire mistaken for positive, or a bad ground wire...
  17. Paid 20,500 cash for a 2002 gs300 about 6 months ago... 23years old.
  18. This all sound great, but what if the problem is on the inside of the lights.. from water forming inside the light.
  19. maybe you need these things: http://www.lexus-parts.com/partdetail.asp?...ubCategoryID=85 I have brake shuddering even though i just changed my brakes and roters with OE parts.
  20. I couldn't imagine going 14 days without driving my car. Like the dealer said, its probably not a parasitic drain, just normal drainage from components, alarms, sensors, computers....
  21. Take into account that consumer reports consistantly ranks lexus #1 in quality and reliability. You'll see a lot of complaints about lexus on here because no one post a question when everything is running alright. I've owned Mazda's (pretty damn good to me at 157k) Cadillac's (i still want to shoot at the catera in my driveway everyday) and Nissan's (also pretty good). That doesn't include my acura (tranny went at 37K but warranty covered it). Lexus may not make the sportiest cars, but by far they are the most worry free.
  22. I only asked cause the people at monro used it as a substitute because they ran out of what i asked for. I read elsewhere that toyota approved 5w-20 for use in their engines. Its posted somewhere on here. Thanks for the feedback though, I appreciate the help.
  23. Is it alright to use 5w-20 in an 02 gs300 with 48k?
  24. Test drive both, and take into account what priorities you have. All I know is "car and driver" was a little more please with the IS in terms of competition in its class.
