  1. I'd stay away from the Bosch wires. I had bought a set and while installing them immediately noticed a quality difference between the stock wires and the Bosch. Well, the Bosch wires also caused the engine to skip like a fairy after a short while because they arced like crazy. Replaced them with Lexus ones and it now runs great. Expensive but worth it........... Whoaa, did I just say that?
  2. How much for the temp control/voume control piece?
  3. I have a set of ADR Kasai's(collecting dust) and a set of RSL Akunin 18x8, 38et with 235/55/18 Michelin MXV4+ tires. The wheels are hyper chrome and look killer. http://www.rslwheels.com/wheels/?sfID1=12&sfID2=51 The wheels are off for the winter so I don't have any pics of the RSL wheels on the car but I do have pics of the ADRs at home. I'll post it tonight. Jeremy
  4. They are not plug and play. The 2001 and up tail lights have a different bulb socket for the turn signal. Go to your local auto parts store and buy a Chrysler Master Cylinder Gasket fromt he Help! section (red packaging that says HELP!). Cut out the middle of the gasket, fit it into the socket of the tail light assembly and install the bulb and socket into the fitted gasket. I found this mod on another site and did it to my 2000 RX300 when I installed the 2001 tail lights. BTW, great price you got on those! I paid over $400.
  5. First of all, Welcome to Lexus Owners' Club! Secondly, go back to the dealer to get that gas leak fixed ASAP! Other than that I'd recommend keeping up to date with your oil changes and transmission fluid changes. The 3.0l V6 engine has an issue with sludge forming if you don't change your oil regularly. The transmission is known to have had some issues. Just be sure to use ONLY Toyota T-IV transmission fluid and change the fluid at the recommended intervals or when it looks to be turning brownish. It should be red when clean. Good luck with the RX. Jeremy
  6. The ring doesn't get stuck on the wheel it gets stuck on the hub. Small chisel works very easily.
  7. The hard part is getting it back, but once you do then regular maintenance is pretty easy. The more you keep up with it the easier it is to keep it looking better than new ('cuz you know how many swirls those dealer jocky's add to the paint)
  8. Yep, PBBlaster kicks !Removed!. I use it on my boat.
  9. I live in NH and up here the winters are pretty harsh on the paint. I use Klasse twins all the time and in the warmer months I top it with EX. Klasse twins will last you up to 6 months and will most certaintly get you through the winter months without having to do another coat. I've been using Klasse for years and I haven't found anything worth replacing it with. I'm sure to give Meguiars upcoming sealant, NXT Tech Wax a shot when it comes out shortly.
  10. Dude, I just went through the same thing. I sprayed it with Boeshield T-9 (you can WD-40 or equivalent) and used a small chisel and tapped lightly all around the edge and it popped off easily. J
  11. There are two places to get the 2001-2003 RX300 taillights that I found. http://www.autolights.tv/wholesale/Lexus_R...01-2002__.shtml http://www.lexuspros.com/cgi-bin/storev2/c...duct=rxlighting Expensive, but worth it. J
  12. shot of headlight. (these are 6000k bulbs)
  13. I recently installed a HID conversion kit into my 2000 RX300. I spent about 2 months researching the different methods to do it. First off STAY AWAY FROM MCCULLOCH! DO NOT BUY THAT KIT!!!!!. Here are the three methods to add HID to your RX300. 1) OEM conversion using RX300 HID headlamps, bulbs, ballasts, etc. This may cost the most since getting this stuff, even on ebay, is costly. Besides, the OEM RX300 HID isn't that great anyway. And the autoleveling won't work 2) HID conversion kit using rebased 9006 bulbs, Philips ballasts. This is a plug and play solution that costs the least and is the easiest to do. Simply install a HID bulb that has the 9006 base into your existing headlamps, connect them to the ballast, connect the ballst to your battery and to the stock headlamp connector and your done. Takes about a half hour and the results are good. About as good as the OEM HID's. Just be sure to aim the headlamps when your done to reduce glare for oncoming drivers. You don't want them to get blinded and hit you head on now do you? 3) HID Projector retrofit. This is about as costly as installing OEM components, but will give the best overall results. It entails modifying your stock headlamps by retrofitting a HID projector assembly into them. You can do it yourself (I didn't have the guts to try) or send them out to someone who does this type of work (more money). If money isn't an issue then this is the way to go. One word of caution. No matter what. Only go with Philips bulbs and ballasts (unless of course you go with OEM parts). NO IMITATIONS! They won't last and will cost you more in the long run. Here are a few places to get HID conversion kits HID-online.com - very reputable seller. This is where I got my kit from. They sell only Philips bulbs and ballasts and their service is excellent Xenondepot.com - also sells Philips bulbs and ballasts. I didn't buy from them, but their communication was also very good prior to any sale jus4bulbs@yahoo.com - Send him an email. This guy came recommended from people over at another forum and I did buy a kit from him too to install in my girlfriends car. Sells kits with Philips bulbs and ballasts. Very good communications prior to and after the sale. If you decide to go with a HID projector retrofit then here are some places that do this type of work. Jason at discount cycle. discountcycle@ureach.com - send him an email. He comes highly regarded for his customer service. He quoted me $700 for parts and labor. hidtech.com - Others at another forum have recommended them. They do respond quickly to questions by email. I'll post some pics of my install. Jeremy
  14. $5000 for an extended warranty! Are you nuts! I wouldn't pay $5k for one either! You were going to get ripped off on that one. The F&I Mgr was going to take a nice trip on the commission from that one! Straight to the Bahamas! No, seriously. Most of the time I'd agree with you about extended warranties. EXCEPT, in cases like this where the 99 RX300 has a known history of tranny problems that are VERY EXPENSIVE to fix. I'd definitely shop around for one. If you can get a good warranty for say $1500-$1700 and the cost of a new tranny is somewhere around $5000+ I'd say it's a good deal. I'm not saying it's a definite, but I would strongly urge you to check into one. J
  15. Read the thread below about the 99 RX300 and the transmission problems some are having. Here's the link to the thread. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...=ST&f=5&t=1291& I'd be getting one if I were you. I had an aftermarket warranty through Platinum Warranty Corp for a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee I used to own and they were excellent to deal with. I paid $1100 for 2yrs/24,000 miles on the Jeep and it had 115,000 miles on it when I bought it.
  16. It's things like tree sap (and the all too familiar bird droppings) that keep me motivated to keep a fresh coat of protection on the paint (of course it looks killer that way too). Stuff comes off so much easier with a good coat of wax or sealant. I had tree sap and tar on my car last week and it came off with just a wash mit during my regular washing. Just required a bit extra rubbing. J
  17. No that's not true. You definitely want to condition the leather. It's just that with coated leather it doesn't soak in as much conditioner as uncoated leather does. That's why it's so important to keep conditioning the leather on a regular basis so it doesn't dry out. You will notice that if you condition the leather more frequently that it will soften up.
  18. Pure junk. It'll increase fuel consumption but won't add any power at all. I've seen them sold on ebay under a different user ID before and he had a ton of neg feedback. I don't know if it's the same dude or what.
  19. If you want to stick with halogens then go with the Silverstars or PIAA bulbs. A friend of mine opted to go with the 80w 9006 aftermarket bulbs for his RX300 and 2 months later the harness started to melt so he changed them out. The higher wattage bulbs will eventually kill the harness unless you do what bbsal did and upgrade the harness. Now if you really want bright lights then get a 9006 rebased HID kit! I just ordered a kit made of Phillips components (the ONLY way to go for a retro kit) and I can't wait to get it installed! Anyone interested in one I'd be happy to hook them up with the guy I got mine from. He's got a great reputation with on other boards. J
  20. I use pakshak's waffle weave towel for drying my RX300. Best drying towel I've ever seen. On your final rinse use a hose with no nozzle and let the water run off the car and it'll leave behind very few beads compared to spray rinsing with a nozzle. I don't even have to wring out the waffle weave to dry the car completely.
  21. Check out edmunds.com. They usually state the changes made from the previous model year. Good luck, JP
