Deciding between less expensive pre-2001 models without Vehicle Skid Control or post-2001 models with it. Seems like a useful safety feature, but post-2001's are significantly more expensive. Does it really help? Anyone have any experience with it? How does it compare to AWD? Is it the same thing as ESC?

Can anybody refer me to a list of changes made over the years?
