  1. Factory wiring diagram for a '00 SC3 shows no seperate fuse for the fuel pump. Pump is powered from Fuel Pump ECU, which is powered from the Engine Control Module. Easiest way to shut down fuel pump might be to disconnect wire harness at the fuel tank. Access from behind the rear seat back.
  2. My Valentine1 detector mounted high as possible, just right of inside rear view mirror. Sees through '00 SC300 OEM windshield with no problems.
  3. I just had a mechanic come by my house and the weird this is he said that my ECU isn't throwing any codes. He also informed me that me car had a wire that hooks up to my headlight fuse, straigth to my fuel pump. I think I have to replace my ECU and MAF. Do you guys have any other idea on what the problem could be? Find out why somebody hot wired the fuel pump. Bad Fuel Pump ECU being bypassed? Cheap fix could also be constantly feeding power back into Fuel Pump ECU and Engine Control Module with unknown and unpredictable results. Try to solve one problem at a time, the right way, before moving on to next problem.

  5. A stock SC300 has more underhood room for easier do-it -yourself maintenance. A stock SC400 has faster acceleration, but either car can comfortably cruise at double the double nickel. If you want potetial for serious mods, the SC300 is a good place to start: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyTpvwLXNYo&NR
  6. Recently bought a new key for a '00 SC300 from: http://www.toy-lex.com/ Lot cheaper than from Lexus and a good quality aftermarket part.
  7. That many Gremlins can be very intimidating. Start with easier problems like dome light, cigarette lighter or vanity lights. Solve one problem and then move on to the next. Solving one of those may solve other problems also. Car has numerous ground connections and a corroded one can cause headaches with several seemingly unrelated systems. Also inspect larger connectors that handle many circuits. Has the car ever been partially submerged?
  8. Headlamps on a 93 SC300 are four independent lamps, each requiring it's own adjustment. Aiming points for a 04 RX300 are similar but physical adjustment procedures are very different. Go to https://techinfo.toyota.com and spend $10 to download the procedure (and any thing else you like) for your vehicle. Do it right the first time always the cheapest, fastest way.
  9. There is a Blk/Red wire under moon roof switch cover on a '00 SC300. It is on and off at right times.Tapped into back of connector and feed power to a Valentine One, suction cup mounted, high and right of inside mirror. That location gives V1 earliest view when cresting a hill and also a clear view out back window. Also most thieves are quick checking low on dash for a radar detector or GPS. But best way to keep your detector is keep it out of sight when not in use.
  10. OK, What year SC? Where was it originally purchased ? You can always ask a dealer to run the vin# and find out every detail on the promotion to see who mfg's the detector. Was the alternator serviced at a Lexus Dealer ? Have you looked to see if there are any loose/disconnected wires ? The more info supplied on this subject the better your chances are to remedy the problem. The only thing i want to know is where the radar boxes are located??, I changed the alternator myself. Detector section of ANY radar detector needs a clear view of the road. If there is nothing looking through the front windshield, then a remote detector section likely got put behind the grill and in front of the radiator. Part under front seat is likely power unit and annunciator with a volume control. Fuse could be inline on a wire feeding power to unit under seat or part of some other fuse in the car, a circuit that goes off when the key is removed. Start tracing wires by hand to see where they come from and go to.
  11. Lexus part nos for '93 SC400 LCA's are: 48068-29165 RH 48069-29165 LH Price unknown, but they also come with bushings and ball joints. Don't know if Supra parts are exactly same as Lexus parts?
  12. All SC300 and 400 motors are equiped with engine knock sensors. These sensors !Removed! engine timing to prevent low octane fuel predetonation from damaging the engine. Retarded engine timing means lower performance and lower gas mileage. Soooo.... save $ at the pump and get less HP and lower MPG. Not easy to quantify, but likely an even trade off.

  14. What kind of output does the stock alternator do? Factory OE alternator for a '95 SC400 rated 100 amps @12 volts.
  15. This guys website http://nasyard.com/index.html used to be very helpful but now it's being reworked and not much available. He sells simple, inexpensive kits to repair a starter solenoid. He responds to email and phone shown on his site. :)
  16. Jack and support driver side front. Remove tire and wheel assembly. Remove front fender liner. Remove driver side front low beam headlight. Receiver /dryer and it's fittings will be accessible. Bleed AC system pressure before removing. :)
  17. No 1 mystery rocker switch on a 2000 SC300 turns Traction Control System off.
  18. Every SC300 and SC400 left the factory with a "53299-24010 Duct, cool air intake". Lexus must have thought it was a good idea, too.
  19. ECT button electrically changes transmission shift points. NORM gives better gas mileage with transmission upshifting at lower RPM's. PWR causes transmission to upshift at higher RPM's for "sportier" driving.
  20. Try searching https://techinfo.toyota.com/
  21. Like schott1984 says, you can download, save, printout as much as you want for $10 a day. OBD I codes before 95 are not consistent for maker to maker. Autozone may read a code but they don't know what it means for a '92 Lexus. https://techinfo.toyota.com/ may tell you what the unknown code from Autozone indicates. Or call your local Lexus dealer and ask if you can pay them a diagnostic fee only, to find out what your check engine light is telling you? Then fix it yourself or go someplace cheaper than the dealership.
  22. My local Autozone parts store will read any OBD codes your check engine light wants to tell you about, for free. Also you can download all technical info you want for $10 a day from: https://techinfo.toyota.com/
  23. Start by inspecting ground cables for loose or corroded connections. And not just the battery ground cable. There are many under hood and through the car. Don't know exactly which point is causing your problem, but bad grounds can cause headaches. Good luck.
  24. If the wheel stayed on the car, inspect the caliper and disc, and have all the hub bolts replaced on that wheel. Inspect and properly torque the wheel nuts on the other three wheels. Make certain you are using the correct wheel nuts for your wheels. Steel wheels, alloy wheels and after market wheels can all use different wheel nuts. The threads engage easily and the wheel goes back on, but not permanently. The end result will be just what happened to you.
  25. Fuel pump ecu is behind rear seat, driver side, quarter trim.
