  1. What is the thought of putting the bra on the hood? My husband seems to think he doesn't want it there, but just to put it on the front bumper......

Again, if you don't put it on the hood, the money spent to put it everywhere else is wasted.

I agree. He just doesn't want to deal with the waxing of the hood around the clear bra. And as stated above, that is the reason, also, that he doesn't want to deal with it. He's seen the clear bra on some real high-end cars and really doesn't like the differential it causes in the hood of the car.......

  2. Personally? If you don't do the bumper the money you've spent on the rest of it is wasted.

Which is exactly the reason that the next new car (probably in August, to get the deal on the '07s, like someone suggested), the first thing I'm going to do is get that clear bra put on!!!!

  3. Does it sound like a Rock is hitting your windshield? I just heard that yesterday while driving my car. I think it scares me more than irritates me, since I keep thinking a rock is going through my windshield.

That's a totally different issue!!! I have that all the time, but it's in my dash. It is just so loud that you think it sounds like a rock hitting the windshield. There is a link somewhere in here discussing this......oh, the other day I had my finger resting on a point in the dash while I was changing radio stations, and that happened. I could feel the popping in my finger!! So weird........

  4. If you're looking for acceleration, the IS250 is not your car. While it's a fine vehicle, it's slower than hell IMO.

Oh, it's not that bad!!! Put your foot into it, and it goes!!!! Believe me, I've done it!!

And, of course, the 350 would be the better option of the two cars, but $35k isn't going to get you the 350. They're way too popular right now. Window sticker on the 250 is $35k.

  5. Hello to all, right now i am thinking about either the IS350 or the 335i. The winner will most likely be the IS350. Right now I drive a Dodge Ram truck (Power Wagon) with the Hemi and I am getting 9.5 miles per gallon. I know the IS 350 gets better then that but i was wondering what you are getting. I think it is rated at 24 city and 29 highway. If you can give me both that would be great and driving habits. I am very hard on my truck, but the best i did get was 13 mpg driving to Vermont doing about 70-75 the whole way there. Thank you very much and i cant wait to join the club.

    William

I have the 250 engine, but I am getting between 28 and 30 mpg. I drive the freeway mostly, with stop-and-go, thanks to SoCal traffic.......

  6. So I almost bought a BMW this weekend, but changed my mind with the offer they gave me on the IS. Kelley Blue Book was 23,000, they offered me 20,5-. Apparently they had two trade-ins already this week, and they didn't want another one. I wasn't gonna give it to them! Geesh.

The Web site for BMW is correct, the service is all free, no deductibles, and everything included. I have no idea why a salesperson would tell me that, esp when he thinks he's trying to sell me a car.

Okay, so now I was looking back at the IS, and Crown had all sorts of IS250s this weekend, not a single silver/black one. Not a single IS350. They actually didn't have a lot of inventory. I saw that they didn't have any ES's either.........

  7. The salesperson told me this. He said they will do what the online version you posted says, but only every 15,000 miles, or once a year. So if you go 15,000 miles in a year, get the service, and you go another 15k miles in less than a year from the first service, BMW won't cover the second warranty service. Plus, he said, there is a $50 deductible, so you have to pay that first to get the "free" service.......

  8. I know it was asked here earlier about what BMW's new warranty policies are. I checked with them over the weekend, looked at the 3 series.

Their warranty consists of every 15,000 miles, full maintenance, includes everything. However, it is once a year, with a $50 deductible. So, if after the 15k-mile service something else is needing to be done to the car, you'd have to pay for it out of pocket.

And, btw, I don't like the new 3 series. It seems a lot cheaper interiorwise to me. I think I am sticking with my IS, I can't beat the service with anything else!!!!

  9. I would choose your clear bra installation shop very carefully. I had venture shield installed, but frankly it comes down to your specific installation. Mine didn't go well and some bubbles never cured. Also, although they did a custom cut, which they said was better than a kit, as the coverage was better, they had difficulty making cuts on the front fender symmetical on both sides. Hard to explain, but to me, it didn't look right.

At the same time, I've seen 150k Porsche Turbo's with lowsy clear bra installations, so perhaps people have a lower tolerance on installation quality???

A good reason to have the dealer do it? I know they hire it out, but wouldn't they keep an eye on it while it's being done?? Yeah, right, I know.......

  10. Can someone help me out here. I got a quote for an 07 IS350 with Premium Package and Navigation for 44,XXX out the door.

Can I do better? I'm sure I can.

I live in southern california, so if any one got a better deal with the same car, let me know where.

Dang, that seems like a lot of money, even if it is a 350. Have you called Crown Lexus, if you're close to them? I have a 250 that I bought 15 months ago, so can't help you out with the price there......

  11. I just have a question as to how good the picture quality is on the nav screen when watching dvd's? anyone have any pictures they can put up? and also for the ML system would movies in dobly 5.1 be upscaled to 7.1? thanks.

Isn't it illegal to watch DVDs on the Nav screen, since it's directly in front of the driver? Or is that only a California thing?

  12. So is there any known fix for the dash popping? Normally I wouldnt complain about a rattle here and there. I love listening to music which usually drowns it out, but the pop is so loud I can hear it at higher volumes. I'd also hate to bring it into the dealer for something like that, the techs only get paid like 2 hours and it probably takes 4. dont want to come across as an annoying customer.

I am an annoying customer, as some of you may have figured out already. I've complained about it several times. Maybe my tech guy seems to think it was related to the rattling. Next time I take it in, I will tell him about it again. It may just be something I have to live with.

I am keeping the car for now. I couldn't believe the prices when I went looking this weekend. More expensive than my car, and the same exact packages!

  13. I'm new to Lexus and this forum and would greatly appreciate any help on pricing a new IS250 AWD. I took a look at the pricing guide on here and the invoice pricing information is very helpful. I'm looking to buy (probably without financing), am flexible on color and would be satisified to get a car with no or very few options. I'd like to pay around $30K and have seen on some forums that folks in California and NJ have been able to do so. Here in NY, we've had a mild winter, so there are scads of AWD cars in inventory -- not only this model, but Audi A4, Mercedes C280, BMW xi, etc. While I have a high regard for Lexus, I'm not locked in to the brand. If the price isn't low enough, I'm prepared to walk for a deal on one of those other cars or even a Subaru Outback.

As I've talked to some dealers, I've gotten the usual song and dance about scarcity, Lexus quality, etc., etc. I'd like to find a dealer that simply wants my business and is willing to offer a rock-bottom price that allows for some modest profit and minimal haggling from a customer (or am I dreaming?).

One other question before I end my post: Why have no IS250s been crash-tested? The car is for my wife and I'm concerned about safety.

Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Regarding the crash testing, there is a thread in here about Australia doing a crash test on an IS250, and I believe it got the highest rating. It's just the good-ole USA that hasn't done it yet.

I paid around $33,000 for my car. When I looked this weekend at new ones, I notice they've gone up to $35,000 for the same car, same packages. I don't know how lucky you'll get to find one at $30k. If you do, I'd say it's a good thing! Good luck.

  14. Hi, wondering if anyone has any experience cleaning stains off the leather seats. I've got creme colored seats and it appears to stain easily. I'm not sure if it's from my jeans or what, but it didn't take long for that to happen. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

My husband likes to use the Lexol leather cleaner. I don't know if that will help you or not. If it's "stained," as you say, it may not.

  15. haha on the Maserati. It's not a very good commute car, in my opinion, as far as mileage.

I had a 325i, with 90,000 miles, when I traded it in for the Lexus. It never once rattled. And I bought it used, so it had the 100,000-mile warranty on it.

I was wondering if, since I bought the first-production model, getting a newer either IS350 or 250 would solve any issues? I have had a consistent rattle in the passenger-side door, where the seatbelt is. The seatbelts have been replaced through the recall. Like I said earlier, the felt fixed the dash rattling. That annoying crack in the dash is still there. I have a new rattle that I cannot figure out where it's coming from, somewhere in my dash. I've taken everything out of the dash compartment, so it's not coming from there. My car just rattles.

Oh, and now I have an annoying whistle as I'm driving. I've found that on the lower part of the front bumper, I must have hit a rock, and it went through that lower mesh of the front bumper. I think this might be where it's coming from.

I am thinking about taking the car in, and just telling them not to give it back until everything's taken care of. I hate to go back to BMW when I know the service is so great at my Lexus dealership.....I remember what Beemer's was like.....

  16. I have to say, I am getting very disenchanted with my car and the rattling and cracking. I am not the type of person to tolerate rattles in my car, and I will take the time, while driving, to find out where it is to stop it. Unfortunately, I told my husband yesterday that I wanted to go back to BMW. My BMW NEVER rattled, and was a great-constructed car.

I'll let ya'll know what happens. I feel bad, because I do like the car, but the rattles are nonstop, and Lexus seems to not be able to fix the cracking sounds in the dash.

    lambobaby1218-

I know what you mean...about the rattle I have recently (since it has gotten cold) got a rattle around my sunroof...I am just about to bust the glass in the sunroof it is driving me nuts! The dealership has told me that they will fix it...we will see! I hope so.

How many times has the dealership tried to fix it?

Well, it's not so much just the rattle. It's everything else I've had to do, as well, like the seatbelt recall, the sunroof, the dash, the popping. They fixed the popping, finally, with the dash, and installed the felt to fix it. But the "cracking" that I keep hearing is just so unreal. It keep scaring my husband each time he hears it. I have 32,000 miles on my car, and I take it in religiously every 5,000 miles. So that probably tells you how often it's been in. Each time, I've complained about something......

  18. Just just got a new IS250 and I notice when I press the Auto button on the A/C unit, a button light come on, but when I press it again it does not turn off. The only way I can turn it off is when I change the fan speed. Is this normal or could my Auto button be defective?

It's not defective. When you depress "auto," it makes the A/C auto. If you press anything else, it takes it out of auto. If you want to turn off your A/C, depress "off."

Actually, now looking at what I wrote, I wrote that wrong. If you want to turn off the A/C, you will have to push the A/C button to turn it off. If you just press off, it will turn off the whole system. Auto is used for the entire system. If you want to make it your own, you'll have to adjust it each time.

  19. While there I asked another sales person whether or not he, or the dealership, could communicate my displeasure with lexus at the supposed removal of the six speed manual as an option. He said that they'd take it more seriously if I contacted them via the web site or by phone and then went on to explain the following: Upon the release of the IS250/350 there weren't a lot of cars around, and the two manual tranny behicles they got sold rather quickly as they were the only ones left on the lot. The next time they ordered a manual tranny IS the cars were more abundant and the car sat on the lot for five months before it sold, all the while that autos were selling like hot-cakes.

It's pathetic, but most of the market in the US are housewives and businessmen that were never taught to drive stick, and just want something to get them from point A to point B as easily as possible. I truly wish that there were more auto enthusiasts in the population, but no such luck...the mediocre masses dictate what cars we can and cannot buy and what options are available due to their often uninspired and uninformed preferences.

There are all kinds of stories floating around pertaining to erroneous info that people got from uninformed salesmen. So don't be going off on car preferences and availabiltiy until you have confirmed what you've been told.

    Try going to

    http://www.lexus.com/lexusConfigApp/index....mp;modelCode=95

Look at the selections and to the far right you will see "IS250 RWD Manual".

Click on that and "build your own IS250 manual". Its there on the Lexus website. If they aren't making them, then take it up with Lexus, and don't be coming around here badmouthing other drivers or Lexus until you know for sure.

I've been driving for 50 years and can drive just about anything you want to throw at me, but I prefer auto trans, and have been driving them mostly for the last 20 years.

"Housewives," ey??? I'm a housewife and a full-time worker. I prefer stick. And like Bartkat, I can drive anything you throw at me ;)

  20. All,

I'm looking to order an '07 IS 250 RWD ... with the premium package and the NAVI ... just wondering, is there ANY package that folks have on their 250/350 that they could NOT live without?? Anything they highly recommend someone get, if money was not an option?

    Thanks,

    Alex

Heated and ventillated seats. They are so nice!

I just wish the heated seats were warmer!!!

If I had to do it again, I would definitely get the memory seats, which I think is included in the premium package, but I'm not positive. I can't stand not having memory seats!!!!! I know, at least they're auto. I'll stop griping.....
