  1. Thanks, Bartkat. I heard back from my service guy (we're on a first-name basis, is that bad?), and he referred me to a company down the road from the dealership. My husband doesn't know about the ding yet, but I'm going to have him do some hunting around for the best deal. It's buggin' me, I want it fixed!!!

  2. I, too, have owned a couple of Beemers. I got rid of mine because of what it was costing me. The company only decided the year I got rid of mine to include the cost of service on their "new" cars. Every time I took it in, it was $1,500 for a service. Something had to be done each time. Granted, the car was getting up in mileage. But I got sick of every 2 or 3 months (I drive a lot) having to pay that. Plus, no loaner car. I had a 2002 330ci with sports package and a 2003 325i with premium package, both manual trans. I liked the premium package better, as it was more comfortable. I enjoyed the coupe the most (despite the sports package), but the mileage sucked, and I got *BLEEP*ed when I got a door ding in the back wheel well that couldn't be fixed without having to repaint the whole back panel. I've enjoyed my Lexus. It's not quite as fast, but I was looking for a bit more luxury. I've found how to drive it best (like putting your foot into it if you really need it to go somewhere, and it does go!) It's agile and great-looking.

Also, my husband had an M3 for a few months. I was so mad when he got rid of the car. He hated the SMG system, but is not very savvy with technology like that. I don't like the new model of the Beemers and probably would not buy a Beemer mostly because of that. I love the looks of the IS. In fact, I saw a silver 350 today with the sports package (spoiler), and OMG!!!!

  3. So I go out to my car to pick it up once it's done being washed, and there's two blaring little indented circles and paint chip on the back center part of the bumper of my IS, like from licence plate screws from another car. I say, out loud, "Wow, that's not good. Those weren't there before." The guy who washed the car says nothing, just standing there with my key. Unfortunately, I don't think his English is too good. So I figure, well, I can't prove they did it, and stupidly I give the guy his tip and drive away. Okay. Story done. Now I'm livid and I want to get my car fixed.

My question is this: Do you think the bumper can be fixed? I'm wondering if it can just be filled in? Any ideas?

I'll tell ya, I'm gonna start washing my own car from now on, no matter how lazy I get.

  4. RX- yea

Here is an example to turn off the seat belt warning:

    1. turn the key to the ON position (press Start 2 times), foot off the brake

    2. cycle the odometer with the trip reset button until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B )

    3. turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position

    4. unbuckle the driver's seatbelt if it was buckled.

    5. turn the key to the ON position (Press Start 2 times). when the dash lights have come on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds. (editor's note, hold it more like 30 sec)

    6. while still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt.

    7. the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset.

    8. the process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off

I am sure as heck gonna sit down and try to do this. That seatbelt warning thing DRIVES ME NUTS!!!!!

THAT IS SO KEWL!!! It worked for me, amazing!

  6. Oh Great! I thought all 350 owners opt for fully loaded... too bad that lot of the options are not available individually, otherwise it will make the IS very competitive... I would opt for the NAVI, HID and 18". I think they should split up the options like the GS.

I have the IS250, and it came with the premium package and 18" wheels. Of course, if I ever get the 350, I'd want that spoiler package.....yeah, baby!!!!

  7. I encounter this same issue. I stop the car, open the driver door, I then turn the Air or Radio off and the door has closed by the time I turn to get out. You have to open the door all the way to the point of maximum extension were it catches. I wish I could just open it partially.

I complain about the same issue. When I first get into my car, once I'm sitting in the driver's seat, the door closes behind me w/o my pulling it closed. However, it does stay open when I push it open to get out.

  8. I just Traded in my 05 G35 Coupe for the IS 350 and no regrets! Befor I bought the G I had a 1990 LS 400 that I owned for 15 years. I put 350,000 miles on that car!

Theres nothing better than a Lexus!! :)

so u lost money on the G35?

Just like I'm going to lose money on my IS250 when I trade it in for the IS350!!! Just as soon as I can talk my hubby into it...........

  9. As a matter of fact the IS350 has a more powerful engine and is RWD. Its much quicker than the ES350.

Okay. That's it. I'm gettin' me an IS350........just as soon as that darned rearview mirror comes in and I get my car back.

The dealership has had my car since Thursday. Dontchya think the mirror would've been in by now?????? oy.

Go ahead and trade and let the dealer worry about the mirror.

I'm picking it up on my way home today from work......

  11. This might possibly be a stupid question. However, I thought I'd ask:

Does the IS350 and the ES350 have the same engine??? I'm driving a loaner right now, the ES350, and am finding the get-up-and-go quite impressive. I love the look of the IS better, and if it's the same engine, hell ya, I'm gettin' the IS350!!!!!!

  12. You mean ES350 or Benz E350?

As for the mirror, thats funny because I had mine replaced in the ES for the same reason, AND we had the mirror in the Prius replaced for the same reason.

Sorry, ES350. And, to tell you the truth, I'm not enjoying it like I thought I would. I like my body style better. I betchya the IS350 is bitchin', just like everybody else here says!!

Yeah, the mirror's not replaced yet, waiting for it to come in.

  13. There have been several complaints of vibration with the rearview mirror. In one case the dealer replaced the entire assembly and that seems to have worked.

Thanks, Barkat. I think I'll let the dealer know about it when I take it in for it's next oil change.

So I took my car in yesterday because the sunroof wouldn't close. I figured I'd complain about the rearview mirror as well.

The sunroof was an easy thing, apparently, and was fixed within the hour. The service guy told me, "Your mirror rattles beyond belief!" I told him, "Uh, yeah, I know!" lol. So it's being ordered and will be replaced.

    In the meantime, I am driving a brand-new E350, and I THINK I LIKE!!!!

  14. Okay, enough wife bashing!!!!!!! lol. Some of us can't help it when that curb somes straight for us. Talk to my husband, he can fill you in.............oh, and ask him about the Lamborghini........I can't believe I'm admitting this on the Internet..........

I can't believe you are either...I love my wife she can hit whatever and I will still love her...but if I had a Lamborghini...and she dented that up...we would have to go to counseling! J/K !!!

    :D

To my defense, I couldn't see the curb when I was backing out.......do you know how hard it is to see in those things??????? And, don't worry, the wheel buffed out perfectly. I was soooo mad at myself. And I haven't done it since. Now I drive like a granny. Of course, we no longer have the car.......

  15. my name is Josh and I scratch rims!:lol:

    Hi Josh :P :P :P

What is wrong with you...JOSH...blame it on the wife! I saw her do it! :D :rolleyes:

  16. So I know that the rearview mirror in the IS tends to vibrate a bit when I'm playing music that has a heavy bass. This rattle is new, however. What I thought was my dashboard rattling after getting my recirc button fixed is actually the rearview mirror rattling beyond belief. I touch the back of it, and it stops, then starts up again whenever it feels like it. I don't know that I'll complain about it when I take it in for service since it seems to stop and start when it wants, but I just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem.....

  17. Ok.. I love my IS... but I've found something that is driving me crazy....

THE PAINT!!!! :chairshot: This has to be the thinnest and weakest paint I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday I noticed 3 scratches about 3' long on a curve.... at first I was thinking it was the towls I use to dry the car... but I would have noticed them a few days ago...

the front I can understand with the rock chips.. (6000 miles and I have 7 or 8 big chips).. but just regular wear and tear??

Anyone else having issues with paint?

Cherokee, what color is your car?? I'm just wondering if it's black.....

No. In fact, my husband, who does the waxing, has said it's better than BMW........maybe you just got a bad paint job???
