  1. Dealer has called me to tell me the car will be done today, I can pick it up after I get off work. So that was Friday through today they kept it, but also had to order the parts. I got another IS250 as a loaner, but it has XM and mine doesn't, lol!
  2. Ha! Reading all the VSC issues in the post down below. My car is a 2009. I've had a 2006, 2007 and 2009 car. All of them have the shuddering issue. My traction control light turned on as well as the check engine light.
  3. Took my car in this morning when the check engine light turned on. Was told it was a misfire, and the dealer wanted more time with the car to drive and test it out. I've complained about the general shuttering I get once in a while at a stop light, where the car feels like it's about to die but doesn't. Yesterday afternoon, I went to move my car into the garage. It was cold from sitting all day. It shuttered a bit, revved at 1,500 rpm. I just drove it in and parked it. This morning, did the same thing, only this time the check engine light came on. Just got a phone call from the dealer. They say it's a carbon buildup and they are going to replace the pistons under warranty! I've had three IS250s. Each one had this shutter issue. I'm glad that I had the dealer put into my file the complaints I've had about the shuttering issue, despite their not being able to find any problem. I have 69,000 miles on my car, and I believe this issue was covered under warranty because of that. Regardless, I am happy at this point that Lexus is taking care of the issue!!!!!!
  4. Has anyone figured out how to stop the doors from automatically swinging back on you as you try to open them? I've had three IS's, and on all of them, the doors don't like to stay open. It's seriously driving me bonkers!!!!!
  5. Thanks for the replies! I have my cell phone that I can go online with, but I'd prefer a much bigger screen than my Blackberry offers..... maybe I'll look into that hotspot they offer and see just exactly how much more that is per month.......
  6. Anybody put aftermarket WiFi in one of their Lexus cars? If so, do you like it? Anybody know if Lexus is considering putting WiFi in their cars in the future?
  7. I was getting 32 mpg, and then I took the car in for rear brakes and new tires, and put in synthetic oil, and all I get is 28 mpg if I'm lucky. I'm coming up on 60k miles now. Any thoughts as to why the mileage would go down? Even after another oil change back to whatever the dealer puts in (I don't think it's synthetic), it's still lower mpgs.......
  8. Isn't that what that little shark fin on the rear top of the car is for, the antenna? They run the wires to it? I thought the wires would already be there if that antenna was there...... In the alternative, would you happen to know how to get an iPod Shuffle to play in the car? I don't have a USB port, but I notice there's another input jack in the middle console. Do I need some sort of cable for it, or is there also an installation process for this? Thanks for all your info, I really appreciate it!
  9. The dealer wants $1,000 to install what I need for the satellite radio. Is there anything out there aftermarket that doesn't require as much money and is the same thing? Trina
  10. I searched a bit to find what I was looking for on this site, but there's just so much to look through. All I want to know is: Has anyone installed aftermarket XM or Sirius radio in their IS250? If so, how much did it cost???? Thanks!
  11. Holy cow! I thought I was happy with my general 29 mpg overall! I've had up to 35 on longer trips. I notice as my car gets more miles that the gas mileage is going up!
  12. So why isn't Lexus on the recall list? That Lexus ES had the issue in San Diego last year that killed four ppl.....
  13. Do you remember what this TSB stated? I took my car in last week for its service, and complained about that smell I've been having, and they've been on ALL three of my 250s. Especially when my hubby is in the car, and heading uphill. They told me to use a different 91 gas. I use about four different gas stations. Doh! Later edit, found it: TSIB EG001-03 (All Models): Sulfur Odor From Exhaust Some owners of Lexus vehicles may experience a sulfur–like or “rotten egg” odor from the exhaust system. Sulfur is a natural component of crude oil from which gasoline is refined and the amount of sulfur can be decreased through the refining process. The amount of sulfur in fuel sold in California is regulated, however gasoline sold in other states can have substantially higher sulfur content. Sulfur content also varies considerably between gasoline brands and locations.
  14. My last IS had the intermittent on and off issue, and I believe they were HID lights. I use my lights all the time, daytime included. I took it in, told them about it, and the dealer replaced it under warranty. I think, however, the light was off when I took it in, so they were able to diagnose it was the bulb. The only way I found out is I was behind a nice, shiny truck, and saw that the driver's side headlight was out......
  15. Just the normal: Claremont (Eastern edge of L.A. County) to San Diego. Claremont to Palm Springs. Always heading in to L.A./Beverly Hills for dinner from Claremont. We don't drive too far, hubby can't tolerate sitting in the car for that long!
  16. I hope it gets worked out for you and everything is as good as new. My husband had an E55 with defective tires that got replaced under warranty. He took it to the dealer, and when he got the car back, all wheels had chips in them. And, of course, the dealer said they didn't do it. They finally fixed it after a week of haggling. I can't believe how insane some ppl are!
  17. So the 350s and the 250s are getting the same mileage? My overall is 27.8, and my normal tank is about 28. I do a lot of freeway driving......
  18. I think that if you know to put the car in neutral, and to press the start button for 3-5 seconds, you should be able to control a runaway car. However, I'm no expert. I've had three IS's, and no issues at all with regard to this issue. It is disconcerting, however, as I've already stated. Bartkat, why did you "finally" take your mat out after so many months? I had mine out, and then put it back in, as I have the same opinion you did, that the mat doesn't reach up to the pedal. And now after re-reading my first paragraph, I wonder if you'll have time to do all of that stuff, as I'm in a second story garage floor and my car just takes off. Won't work to shut off the engine when I'm flying through the air......
  19. http://i.usatoday.net/money/_pdfs/09-1026-nhtsa-memo.pdf This is the link for the nhtsa's memo on the crash. It is scary, indeed......... Ya'll are gonna think I'm nuts, but I'm starting to think that I don't want this car anymore.........
  20. Anyone having a problem with their clock changing on its own? A couple of months ago I noticed it was about 30 mins slow. Yesterday I changed it to the time change in the morning, and at night it was 30 mins. slow again. Does this have anything to do with the battery?
  21. I remember the person in one of these threads who was talking about his friend whose car accelerated into a building, and the mats were to blame but he insisted it was sudden acceleration, and we were all telling him it was driver error??????? Hmmmmm...... So what are the possibilities of each of our cars doing this? Seems very slim, but it is troubling to me.......
  22. When I took my car in last week for service, the dealership just took the mat out I had in there. I had already taken the Lexus mat out, but I use a bath mat on top of that, and they removed it for some reason. I wound up putting it back in last night with the rain we've had here. Haven't heard anything about the tie till just reading this, and that sucks! I wouldn't let them do that to my car........stupid, stupid, stupid!
