  1. I can see where it might be an issue, if the passenger door unlocked when the drivers door unlocked. Potential of an unwanted entry. But the likelyhood of a criminal knowing that the fob in the IS opened both doors...seems remote to me.

For us, I'd kind of like it if both doors unlocked at the same time. I'm guessing you can get the fob programmed to do that? I know you have a multitude of programmable functions with the fob. At some expense after your first programming, so I'm told.

A friend says the Audi fob is owner programmable....damn him!

I don't think you can use the fob to open both doors at the same time. You still have to press the unlock button twice, and I don't believe that is a reprogrammable option.

The passenger door is now set to open each time I open my door handle. I kinda like this, and am not as concerned about an intruder. I thought about bringing it up to the dealership when I take the car in, but I like this too much......

  2. In case anyone was curious to know or had the same issues. The dealer was able to fix my seat and stop the squeaky noise. They tightened a loose bolt in the seat. Also the noise that I could hear popping near the front end was coming from a loose bolt as well. They had to remove a piece of carpet near the drivers right knee side and tighten a bolt and the noise is gone now.

Unfortunately like all others with the "rock hitting the front dash" sound, there is no fix for this one yet.

I'd say just don't park on a hill. I suppose that's a little difficult in San Francisco.

Bizarre. But it seems like you have some sort of suspension issue? Sucks with a new car.

Let us know what/if it gets fixed.

All I can say is you should have bought a Subaru ;)

BTW...wife's IS has had NO rattles or noises whatsoever in the first 5K. And she is ALMOST as picky as "lambobaby1218".

Thanks very much for that! And I haven't had any issues with my "newer" IS!

  3. My husband and I found out something new. You know how when you unlock your car by just having your key on you, and you just grab the door handle and it unlocks only the driver's door? My husband pulled on the passenger door handle at the exact same time, and it seemed to break some code or something. Now, everytime I open my door without the key, the passenger side unlocks as well. So maybe for some of you who want that passenger door to unlock as well, get somebody to open it at the same time you do!!!

  4. I just had the 3M clear bra installed on my hood, fenders, mirrors and headlights. It looks great on my smoky granite (dark gray) IS250. The dealer was asking $1000, so I called around to get some price quotes. I got it all done for about $300 with the name brand 3M kit by a guy named Dean who has his own business and does these full time. He's north of Seattle, but came all the way out to Issaquah for a reasonable travel charge to do mine.

I'd definitely recommend this route instaid of paying the dealer three times as much.

Here is the contact info for the guy who did mine:

    Clear Statement

I wish he'd drive down to Southern California!!

My husband was kind enough to point out to me today my first rock chip. Only 1,800 miles on the car!!!! Oh, and as luck would have it, I ran a cart into the rear end of my other car, and it now has a nice little ding. Yikes! It's hard keeping cars looking nice.......

  5. You can't rotate the tires, but only side to side, I guess. What's the word I'm looking for?? They're staggered.

Incidentally, I had 30,000 miles on my last car with the same tires.......

Also worth noting, even if you could rotate front to back, it wouldn't resolve this problem anyway, as only the inside edge is wearing.

I guess you could always have your tires taken off the wheels and turned around every 5,000 miles.

    Duh! lol.

  6. Does anyone have a problem with the review mirror vibrating when the sunroof is retracted....I mean is it so bad it looks like the cars behind are jumping around. I had the dash problem and got that taken care of. Any suggestions? This is my first lexus after having many hondas......

Yes, my rearview mirror was replaced. I guess I use a little too much bass in my music, and it would shake the begeebers outta that mirror!!!! The new mirror (new IS) vibrates a little, but not as much. Haven't experienced it, however, with the sunroof retracted.

  7. Thanks for the info....

I bought my IS250 last Saturday. They told me more then once to make sure I have the tire rotated every oil change (5000 miles). Does everyone do that?

    Dan

You can't rotate the tires, but only side to side, I guess. What's the word I'm looking for?? They're staggered.

  8. The whole clear bra install should be no more than $700 for the whole front end. I've seen folks on this alias in LA say they got it for $450 - $600 and were happy with the results. Again, not sure how picky you are, but you may want to look at a few before deciding. It also depends on the color shade of your car. Again, I don't recommend it, as I think chips look better than a film peeling off the front end. Chips are natural, film peeling is definitely NOT. Besides, how long are you planning to keep the car?

Well, I kept my last IS for a year and a half, only bcz of the little problems I was having with it (my little drive-me-nuts problems). This new car is the silver color. I'm doing my best to not get behind any rock or dirt trucks, which is almost impossible on these freeways these days. I've decided not to get the clear bra done. I don't have the time to research out these people for the $600. My husband is of your opinion, that it shouldn't cost any more than that. He says I can get the front end repainted for that price, as well.

Lexus's price of $1,200 included the front bumper, the mirrors, and the hood, I believe........Anyways, onto keeping a clean, beautiful car!!!!!

  9. I am looking at pics of this glacier frost and it looks amazing.

yet, when I visited the dealer...the salesman made a point of telling me "you don't want that color..it is really weird."

I don't get it..it looks white with some shimmers of blue...very cool.

why is it so controversial? Can someone provide more pics and offer some opinion.

    thanks

See it in person before making a decision.

It's a cool color cause it changes in different light, but one of those changes is PINK!

As long as you don't mind you friends calling you Mary Kay, it's pretty nice.

lol, Scott!!!! Actually, I always loved that color, until my husband saw it. He said the exact same thing, "It looks like a girl's car." Well, uh, I hate to say it, but I AM A GIRL!!!! lol :P

  10. Lexus installs one from the factory for the LS, maybe thats the only model they do it for. But Lexus gets someone else to install them if they dont come from the factory. I went to them and they said that someone in California comes up with the cut, they buy it and install it. $450(cnd)w/tax for my bumper, 16" of hood, front of the quarters and mirrors. $2500 is wayyyy too much, that should cover the whole car!

I finally got a call back from the service part of the dealership. They charge around $1,200 to have someone come pick up the car from the dealership, then return it with the bra on it. I still think this is too much.........but it seems to be my only option right now.......

  11. I called two dealers locally. They both tell me that Lexus doesn't make a clear bra for the IS250. I can't believe this. They don't make a leather one or a clear one.

So I got to this place that I've had tint my windows, and I know he does the clear bras. He can do it. For $1,800 to $2,500. What's up with that? I thought somebody said it was about $600 for the clear bra itself....WOW!!!!

So now I guess I just have to drive nicely and stay away from the never-ending rock trucks that drive the SoCal freeways right along with me 24/7???????? This kind of irks me that they don't even have a bra, at all, for my car............

  12. I bet Lexus has one

I'll give them a call, but they told me they weren't going to make one........

I just called Lexus, and they told me that Lexus doesn't make one. When I told him that I saw one on the road, the parts guy got very interested and said he would do research to find out where it came from.....

I just did a quick search and couldn't find anything. I wanna know where this person got it!!!!! :cries:

  13. Which is why I wished they made the leather bra. I now others disagree with me, but I keep that sucker clean, take it off in the rain, and I'd much rather have that than something I can't take off whenever I please.......

I saw an IS250 yesterday on the freeway with a leather mask on the front bumper. Now I'm in search!!!!!!

  14. Help, I need some advice with my 06 IS350. I took a rock in the windshield the other day. The crack is too big for a repair, so I need to replace it. I have insurance for this, but I think they want to replace it with an aftermarket winshield. The lexus dealer said the auto wipers may not work with the cheaper glass. They also mentioned the outside wind noise may be louder than normal. The dealer wants $1600.00 to replace it. I know if push comes to shove, I can get the insurance co. to pay the extra $$. Unfortunately, I live in Phoenix and chipped windows are routine. This is my 1st replacement with the IS, but not my last. As we all know, the more money you cost the insurance co, the more its going to cost us down the road. If the cheap glass works, I'll go with that. Has anyone replaced their 06 IS windshield with aftermarket glass. If so, what did you think? Thanks in advance for any help.

    Daysoff

My first week of owning my last car, I got a rock chip in the window. Luckily, I was able to fix it, but it stayed there the entire 35k miles that I had it. A good fix, ey?? lol. Anyways, I think you've been given wrong info. I was told just last week by a dealer that it would cost roughly $1,000 to change out the windshield, which comports to what they told me when I originally got the chip in the window, about a year and a half ago. I wasn't told anything about that wipers working with the cheaper glass. I have looked a few times for an aftermarket one, and I think it was about $400 was the charge. I think I'd check another dealer, just to make sure. Good luck!

  15. what exactly are some of these differences...im curious! (not being sarcastic incase you were wondering)

You know, overall, the car seems a lot more solid, to me. The only difference I got was the HIDs and Lexus moved the gas cover and rear entry buttons. All of the controls seem more solid. The doors, when closing, feel more solid. The whole car, all around, just feels so much better. I don't know if it's just because it's brand-new, but I don't remember my other car feeling like this......

    Congrats.

    Thanks, Bartkat!

  16. Well, I finally did it. I got a newer IS250. It is a Tungsten pearl with black interior, has a luxury package and high intensity headlamps. That's about all I need for the driving that I do. I traded mine in.

I have gotta tell ya, this car already is different than my first one. Granted, they're only a year apart ('06 vs. '07), but it is an awesome car!! I'm babying it so much more than I did with the first one. (I had 35,000 miles on it).

And just to let the people who live in the Southern California area know....I know it was mentioned the other day that ISs couldn't be found......Longo Lexus, in El Monte, has got a LOT of them!! I saw at least 20 IS350s, and about 75 IS250s. There was also a nice array of all the other cars that Lexus makes.......

  17. I have a new IS 350 w/18"wheels. Although I think that the car handles phenomenally on curves and in the city, I've noticed that my car takes a little more effort to hold a straight track while driving straight at highway speeds. I don't mean to say that it's out of alignment - it's not - it's just that when driving straight on the highway, it seems to wander side to side more than other cars I drive, requiring more driver input to keep it straight. Has anyone else noticed this?

    Thanks,

    Russ

I haven't. I just know when you hit certain spots on the freeway, the wheels may grab the concrete a little more. But that happened in my BMW, and it happens in my Toyota truck, as well.......
