  1. When my husband used my car for a few months, he would park under the trees in the summertime, so he'd come home and the leaves would be all over the car. So when I started driving my car full-time again, I hear this rustling coming from what I think is the A/C vent, on the driver's side, up on the left side of the steering wheel. I just dealt with it.

Well, I found out the other day, if I tap on the dashboard right on the intake, up above the A/C vent, it stops. And now I'm wondering if it's in the intake that has rattles in it and not the vent itself.

I'm afraid to take it to the dealer and have them take my dashboard apart. Any ideas on what it could be????

  2. I agree, Clay, I've never had a problem, and the key most always stays in my purse, which is always in my car, unless I give it to a valet person, and I've never had a drain.

However, maybe it's the resetting issue that Gaugster is talking about, the key needing to be taken away from the car so both can reset themselves?

  3. Now that you say that, I was messing with the ECT last week. However, I think it's off, there's no light on my dash that's lit.

My idle RPM, when the car is warmed up, in drive and at a stop sign, is about 600-700.

When it is warming up in the morning, in park, it's 1200.

When it is warming up in the morning, in drive and at a stop sign, it's 1000.

I'm thinking it's just the cold mornings we've been having, because the only time I have the issue is when it is cold, as I started thinking about it more. We've had more mornings in the upper 30s than I can think of over the last couple winters.

    Thanks, Bartkat!

  4. I have been experiencing lately, as I depress the brake and let go, a very mild jerking motion. It's almost as if my accelerator is pushed in a little, but it's not, I've checked (no carpet or anything on it). When I'm at a stop light and sitting for a little bit, I take my foot of the brake, and the car goes forward a little faster than I seem to remember. Also, when I'm readjusting my foot if it's on the brake, the car will jerk a little bit instead of a steady accelerated motion. It's hard to explain. I'm just wondering if anybody else is having the type of thing happen to them?

  5. The loaner I had last week was an RX350 with 1,500 miles on it. It had rattles overhead that I couldn't quite figure out.

I am having the cracking in my center dash, due to the weather getting cooler. It just all of a sudden pops. I haven't had rattling there yet with this new one, like I did with the '06. I've got something in the back, towards the passenger side seat belt area, that is rattling. And yes, I just turn up my radio. I don't have time to keep taking this car back. I'm threatening my husband for a BMW even though the new model isn't as good-looking as this car, and the service is so much better at Lexus. That's the only thing that is keeping me in this car, is the excellent service I'm getting....... except for that annoying 888 number that keeps calling me to find out how my service was.........

  6. Wow..i'm surpised the airbags did not go off.

If this hard hit doesn't deploy the airbag then this is frightening.

Glad you are ok...In my eyes the car looked totaled. That's :censored:

I hope is not totaled othewise the value goes down. Boy, looking at those pic(s) are painful.

When I crashed my husband's Mercedes Benz, going 40 mph, hit straight into his sidewall, my airbag did not go off. The dealership said the car "sensed" that it didn't need to go off. The seatbelt held me in, although my shin did hit the dash, and I did wind up breaking my ankle. But I'm thinking Lexus is probably the same way, with the sensors and all.

  7. I may have figured out why my gas mileage has gone down: Nail in the sidewall of my tire.

Once I get the car back from the dealership (after the 15,000 service, as well), I'll let ya know if I get better mileage.

You should see what I went through to find a good price for the tire. Firestone wanted $330. Lexus wanted $275. Another dealer wanted $380, and insisted that it was a run-flat tire, even though I told him it wasn't. My consultant at Lexus did it for $275 plus tax, waived labor. I'm sure he does that for everybody else, but it still made me feel special, and so I went back to them, plus the convenience. I'm driving an RX right now!!! lol.

Oh, and somebody had a brand-new IS250 with some hot wheels on them (with a Lexus logo, mind you!), I'm gonna have to check that out........

  8. I went from Ontario to Palm Desert and back a couple times. I never thought about going fast though cause we had a stupid little rental car. :D

I remember a bunch of windmills on the hillsides and an Indian casino and outlet store that we passed.

Good memory, Bartkat!!! You should see that Indian casino now, it's about 15 stories high.....okay, off topic, I know. I just had to comment, sorry!

  9. i put a intake on my IS350 and my gas ave went from 16.5 city to 21mpg. I have found on my many trips on the I10 from san bernardino to indian wells that if i go 95-100 i get the best gas mileage possible. I have actually gotten up to 33mpg on the frwy doing about 100 on a long 75 mile trip. the worst gas mileage is at the 75mph on the frwy. the car was built for speed and likes to be driven fast. for those that can accommodate the 90+ mph you will be rewarded with much much better gas mileage.

I love this car and many many tanks of gas have gone by very fast in my pursuit of fun with it. I have taken it all the way up to 145mph and not hit the limiter. anyone hit it yet? the car was in heaven and was/is built for speed and fun.

How are you getting up to 100 mph from San Bernardino to Redlands????? Ya gotta get past Yucaipa to get past all that traffic!! ;-)

Okay, I have the 250, and I was just gonna start looking for the old topic, and saw it's a new one again! I started keeping track of my mileage on Gasbuddy.com, and it's gone from 28 to 25 in the past month. What gives? I've been trying not to accelerate fast, hit the brakes hard, and I'm normally on constant freeway speed (usually 70-75, maybe 80). I do notice, however, that if I gas up, then head to work, I get the better mileage overall, with the freeway being the starting mileage. If I gas up and stick around town for a day before heading to work, the mileage is worse.

  10. I think I could scrape together enough for a ISF but then I probably couldn't afford the insurance, gas, and food for my kitties. :(

If you lived in the UK Bartkat you'd have to find the equivalent of $105,000 to buy the IS-F. The car manufacturers have a reason for calling the UK 'Treasure Island' ...could be worse though, it's even more expensive in Ireland, Norway ..oh, and Singapore.

If that were the case I'd have to sell my house and sleep under a bridge.

But couldn't you sleep in the car???? lol! ;-)

  11. I honestly don't see how they will sell them for 60k. I just left the Lexus dealership here in Orlando, and the IS 350 is listed for 62k. I think the real price is going to up around 80k. I don't have any facts on that, it's just an opinion. I could very well be wrong.

A 350 for $62k? Are they out of their mind??????? What the heck do they have on that thing?????

  12. Actually hang out at a place called Neptunes....Although it is best to show up on a motorcycle....

Gladstones on PCH has it share of trust fund babies cruising in on there over priced rides too...

hahaha!!! So when I keep showing up there for breakfast on the weekends in my Prius, is that considered an over-priced ride??? lol!!! Oh, the guy that shows up in his Maybach every Saturday morning that he won't fix after being rearended must be one of those guys!!! ;-)
