  1. I just bought a Jabra SP5050 bluetooth speakerphone at Costco for $50 with coupon. So far, it works great. Sounds is very loud and clear, and people on the other end have no problem hearing me. I guess it doesn't hurt that the IS has a pretty quite interior. Its also pretty slim, and slides right onto your visor. I'm pretty happy with it, and it sure beats wearing a goofy headset in my ear.

    My 2 cents...

And see, I was at Costco and forgot that coupon. I almost got that and went with the earpiece instead.......argh!

  2. I was trying to figure out what kind of car was behind me this morning, but my rearview mirror was rattling too badly to figure it out until I put my hand on it to stop the vibration. I had it replaced in the last IS, but haven't done it in this one.....

Yes, I love my Lexus, even with all the complaints. Then why the heck do I keep dreaming about the Infiniti??????

  3. That's exactly what I do, jam that music up loud!!

I had them fix the dash, but it doesn't stop the loud popping that occurs during temperature changes. Let me just put it this way: If I don't hear the popping, I now think that something is wrong with the car, lol! That was an '06, I was complaining about. I now have an '07, and it's just the same way. A quirk of the car that I'm not gonna fiddle with right now....

  4. Garmin 660 it is then... 300-350 bucks on sale, handsfree BT (and ear-free), plus all the better-than-OEM nav features including realtime traffic and the ability to take it with you

Thanks, Knightshade. I just bought an earpiece for my phone, and it hurts my ear. The first one I bought wasn't bluetooth, and it was annoying, as well. I really miss the navi on the Toyota I had with the integrated bluetooth.

  5. I did a test again this week. I have been driving between 65 and 70 mpg (and literally getting run over on the freeway), and I've gone up to 30 mpg, according to my computer. Granted, my computer always states that I am 2 mpg above what GasBuddy says, so I'm probably really only getting 28 mpg. However, I'll take the 2 extra mpg with these gas-gouging prices!!!!!

  6. Just had a client not long ago who's home burned to the ground. Home was insured for 300K. Now by the time the claim was settled, the insurance company had paid out close to 500K. Their premium was $550.00 year; it will only take them 909 years to pay that back to the insurance company using the premiums that they had been paying. That seems to me a wise investment of $505/ year. Maybe not you...

Better yet, a homeowner in my neighborhood had his home burn down during the wildfires of 2003. He didn't reup his insurance only the month before. He's been trying to sell his lot ever since then.......

  7. I don't pay for homeowners insurance either.. I am forunate to own my home out right and if some thing happens like a fire or earthquake I am liscensed contractor and will rebuild myself... If you own your own home free and clear you are not required or obligated to have homeowners insurance on residential properties...

So off-topic, but if you don't pay for homeowner's, what happens if someone injures themselves on your property and then sues you? Wouldn't you want that insurance coverage then?

I agree, I hate paying for insurance that I'm necessarily not going to use. But I sure as heck do appreciate that I have it when I need it.

  8. I was looking through the IIHS at the different cars and found that the IS gets good all around, for front impact and side impact. But I found it strange that the BMW 5-series and the Mercedes Benz E-class got a moderate rating on the side impact. The IS is a safer car??? Wow!!!

  9. And where might that be, Jay? SoCal sure isn't the place!!!

My husband had a problem, only with his "perfomance" car, which at the time was a Mercedez-Benz E63. All of the tires had the same issue, and MB didn't want to fix it either. After much haggling and my husband not picking up the car, they reluctantly replaced them. I know they're much more expensive tires, as well.

I've an '07, and haven't had but one issue, and that was a nail in the tire, so not the same problem.

  10. I heard a strange noise in my car today on the way home from an all night poker game. I turned a corner kinda fast and there was this bumpety bump. Turned out it was only my empty six pack cooler flipping over in the trunk. :chairshot:

Okay, Bartkat. I only re-emphasized the obvious, that the friggin' car rattles!!!! But I still enjoy it........Want me to complain about the new one in the back seat??????

    'nuf said.......

  11. Here in Jersey,I've never had a new car delievered without a front plate bracket installed.I've never even thought about it.I've never even heard of that happening as a front plate is required in NJ.

Much ado over nothing but whatever floats your boat. :)

I bought my car at Longo El Monte, and I forgot to tell them not to install it either. When I showed up after getting the car all put together, it was on there. I'd rather not have it, but I'm not going to make a big fuss over it.

I agree, much ado over nothing, but if you don't want it, I guess fight for it.

  12. If only I could race my 250 against those Audis and such. I had to start from a dead stop the other day, and gun it because of unrelenting traffic coming up on me, and it didn't do too well when I first started! And I am trying to drive nicely because of our wonderful gas prices. I got 26 mph last time.........I'm wishing I had my Prius!!!

  13. hey everybody,i just got my lexus from USA, and the problem is,that the engine start everything is ok,but when you try to spin the steering wheel, nothing happens :/ wheels dont move :/ the steering wheel just spin around and thats all :( what could it be?maybe you know the answers...help me,thanx for your time and sorry for my english :)

If you put the car in drive, leave your foot on the brake, does the steering wheel turn? Hopefully the steering wheel turns when you're driving! If you leave the car in park and try to turn the steering wheel, it doesn't like to turn very well in that way.

  14. It's simply falling apart. You guys are just too rough on your cars! Quit racing the Audi's and Infinity's, ok?

But seriously Trina, that sounds like a tough one. Unless you are adept at taking dashboard apart, I don't know what else to do beside take it in to the dealer :(

I raced no one; no one except myself ever drove this machine and I got less than 9500 miles all that said whenever I get in this car and start driving I hear rattles, crackles, etc. you name it. I taped all these noises for history. The tape title is got to be, "The Pursuit of Perfection."

Well, thanks, Jay, for that, but I haven't been racing as of late!!! I wish........And are you referring to me? In which case, I've never owned an Audi, and I haven't had an Infiniti in a loooooong time!!! lol. j/k.

    Funny, EnginePassion. Funny.

Okay, guess it's that I should take it to the dealer with complaints. I was thinking of it last time, except when I went into the dealer and got it back and went, "Doh!!!!" lol.
