  1. that isn't as bad as it could be really....but it still bites! you will defintly need to get to it from underneath and the apply a bit of down pressure too, equally on both sides if you can (maybe a big c clamp?) just be gentle so that it looks unoticable when you are done painting
  2. kcpth may be able to help you he has done some mods to lighting systems in a few lexus cars
  3. as i work away from home and only get there on weekends get in touch with ocberg on here by PM or some means and tell him that you are looking for some salvage parts as i gave him a few resources and numbers to go to he can most likely hook you up there, sorry if i am volunteering him for this but hopefully he won't mind as he is a very nice polite fellow
  4. HAHA LMAO yeah you definitly have some sort of a claim to fame on here!! this is cool though let's keep this thread going for a bit and one more thing if you see someone talking about doing a procedure and you think you can hook them up with a better way go ahead quote it out and put your 2 cents in here that way we can keep other threads from getting too convoluted and off track, kind of like the ultimate side bar or the best ADD thread at least
  5. yeah that was something mentioned earlier.....this place is so cool but it makes you find the smallest things wrong with your car. I gotta admit this forum should come with the warning sticker: "you WILL save thousands from good research and cross referencing other source, but you will become anal about your car and will constantly covered in grease while you micro manage the exponetial forces that compell you to drive such a cool car"
  6. HAHA this is great, as you can all probably tell from my twenty zillion posts today, i am having a bit of a slump at work here, but thanks to you guys i am thoroughly entertained!!
  7. pretty sure last time i was under there i thought i saw it on the back of there Hmmmm...................Power Steering leaks?.................... well see really what happend was that the eclipse of the moon combined with the cow's blood and three witches that live next door caused a..........yeah crap you caught me stupid p/s pump
  8. no i haven't tried it but you can bet i will now!!! i was reading what you had wrote earlier and this sounds great, hopefully i can get that knocked out this afternoon, it's messing with my conscience!!
  9. yeah that's a sign or carrier bushings possibly being bad but also the rear shocks could be going out i guess, i haven't had to buy this part so hopefully once you find out for sure what it is you can maybe get some input from the other folks on here
  10. pretty sure last time i was under there i thought i saw it on the back of there
  11. yeah that's what i'm talking about..... good idea adding what you have done to the car, definitly cool come on now is anyone else going to post up on here? don't be shy people i know you are all going to read this post!!!right?
  12. Uh okay i've got some experience here.......first one go to langleys and get that dash shell(it's tan) about a hundred buck prolly but that means that you'll be down about two or three days taking hardware in and out........the other is to order a vinyl kit to recover.....they are really nice and you can get a good match most of the time, i am guess it is the soft padded vinyl that has cracked right? if it is a hard plastic peice....gut out all the way to where you can get to the underside and granb thin tiny peice of tin or metal (i like taking the little expansion covers off the back of my PC) and then sand the metal real good and then lightly sand the underside where the crack is....apply two ton epoxy and use some upward force to where the epoxy squeezes up through the crack a little bit, and really just a little bit, don't let it get everywhere. then go to car quest(lafayette branch) and get some semtek vinyl dye to match the color, they have it. get a small amount because it doesn't hold for a long time in the can, next go to a craft store or wal mart and get a model airplane air brush kit....sand the little bit of epoxy that came up through the crack down close to level with the surface, easy cause you don't want to sand the dash because it's soft and textured....then useing some finesse lightly coat with that dye, it's very tough and won't peel or scratch( i tested my dash by scratching with a knife to see if it would take it) and when you are done you should just see a tiny tiny smooth line where the crack was.....it's really easier than it sounds, but it's kind of tedious, uh where is the crack at exactly?
  13. just remeber do it politly so that they can't say you are unreasonable......which you seem like a pretty kewl guy (haha lame pun sorry) so i don't think you'll have any problems there.
  14. Langley's in Eunice...........it does but i'm not so sure i'd be confident about it. All of the wheels were removed and it was placed on the ground.......if you want to go look at it walk straight through the back of the shop and out the back door and keep going towards the back of the lot it'll be about two cars deep on the left! Lowball them with cash and you can get it for about 50% of what they originally ask. I always go get the quote and then go back with 100%cash of what they asked but only pull half out and say that's all you have to spend on what you want......they can't move stuff that's sitting in the back so that's where i shop. The stuff on the racks i'd give them 100% cause it's usually really good stuff. PM me if you want some directions.
  15. Read this whole thread and plug in your two cents!! Hey every one, i am curious. We have nice cars and they are really reliable. Let's face it though most of us here are high milage. Let's vent on what is happening to them right now. This isn't a poll and it isn't general discussion. If this thread goes cold and you are new to the forum when you find it feel free to bring it back to life.........now for the million dollar question..... What is currently something you consider a deficiency (it's not how it is supposed to be) whether it be maintence or a fault, that is really bugging the crap out of you? or what is something that needs to be fixed or that you would like to have fixed? Just a quick listing and may be why it bugs you. I know this is what this forum is all about, getting on here and asking questions, but let's compare issues with them. So think about it and post it up. This is the place to definitly leave your two cents with no hard feelings! Here is mine....... I'm close to 200,000 miles and having to change the timing belt and all related stuff doesn't bug me because it has to be done........but i want to change all the rubber bushings, mounts, and then figure out the brakes because there is a shimmy when i go to stop!!!!! IT's gonna be expensive and then it still really doesn't guarantee that something else unrelated is going happen....then to top it off i need to service tranny, diff, flush the power steering and cooling system!!!! oh yeah and weird grinding noise from the starter isn't going to make life any easier My brain hurts thinking about having to do all that.....
  16. ocberg!!ocberg!!ocberg!!! come on we have to cheer you on man!!! good point about the wife can't complain about it anymore, i know i use my grandmother's garage and between my truck, car and current high pro rebuild on my sportster she's getting a little po'd........ i wonder what she is going to think when i park a cherry trans am with 35k and a loud set of pipes and loping cam under there and start leaving black marks in her drive way.....poor granny but she makes really good cookies when i'm over there! :whistles:
  17. yeah i was mortified on how my tires were put on too..........go home and do it your self the proper way by snugging in the proper pattern and then tightening in the same manner, i went and got the torque wrench out. my 94 rims are messed up pretty badly from the previous owner curb riding a whole lot so oh well....i beleive some sort of reimbursement is entitled to you and then i would go to another shop, nc211 knows what to shop for in a tire shop as well as blake so ask them some questions.....or maybe they'll chime in here and give a response, how about it guys? sound off
  18. man i wish i had some pics on digital that i could look at.......uh uh uh lemme think call up your local parts store and ask if they carry a bushing kit either out on their floor or if they can order one, it should be relativly cheap to get (at least compared to ordering from dealer) and if that doesn't work, cross reference with a 94 95 camry, i have noticed things that are used on those that are in my lex for instance the sunroof is identical and so are the front window motors etc. so check it out and i'm gonna take a close look at my assembly, i might even pull mine too because yesterday i noticed (whenever i turn my stereo down) that my driver's blade taps the outside edge of my windsheild, which really annoys me but i didn't notice it until reading the thread about your wipers and investigating on my own. maybe that's a downfall of such a good forum, it makes you find issues with your own ride AGH!!!! :chairshot:
  19. yeah the car i found is a 95 though, i know the body lines are different i'm sure but everything else is the same. so i'm guessing the new look of the 95 was styled around being able to bolt up to the new frame, i'm just trying to see if i can go from a 94 to a 95 with hood, grill, bumper, and head lights
  20. good point i have a small satellite radio boombox that stays in my room and i take it into the garage and it catches just fine i even bring it in to the office where i work and it doesn't need line of sight
  21. yeah it really just depends on what kit you get, i have heard a few and the one i like the most is xms roady kit....it's weird it is an fm transmitter but it's so powerful anc crystal clear, and we drove throught the tunnel in mobile alabama and we didn't lose signal then so i don't know guess it all just depends by the way there is an ipod interface car kit i've been at my hamron kardon or something like that but it has a screen that looks just like the ipod and the a small control knob that you can actuate and control just like the ipod only thing is that i don't want to get rid of my factory stereo because it works so good but i'm gonna have a dislplay for my satellite a display for my car kit a display for the ipod.......i wonder how that would look? maybe like this untitled.bmp
  22. yeah i looked at mine this morning......... ever seen that cowling the is inbetween the hood and windshield on a truck, those were easy because four or five screws and you exposed the whole mechanism, too bad but i'd rather get a bushing kit that have to worry about that stupid noise and then have something go wrong like it breaking but i guess it's not a vital part so you'll be okay putting it off
  23. hey look i know no one has answered this but can this be done i would really need to know because i can get these parts cheap and almost everything i think ocberg needs all at once including all the parts under the hood
  24. roger roger and hooah sorry about the lex but good luck finding something nice if i'm not mistaken there is someone getting rid of a gs next to my house, green and i think its a 96 or 97 i am still trying to talk myself out of an f body car, i'm doing so good because i keep finding myself at autotrader.com and looking through classifieds, keep in touch
  25. i have never even bothered to lok at how the wiper system on my ls works at all but i have repaired a few domestic vehicles..........usually there is a linkage that goes from the motor to connect the two blades so that they work in unison, from the experience i have had is that there are nylon bushings in each of the joints going to each individual blade i have removed the and bought the repair kits from local parts store to repair the and it usually takes the play out of the linkage that causes that "clunk" that you hear when operating a messed up wiper system but i don't know about this car it could operate completely differently than anything i have worked on
