  1. Talk to the GM at the dealership or even get Lexus corporate involved if there is no offer to help from the GM. They should at the least take care of the paint work...and toss in a few services and warranty too.
  2. Yea CD that's what I think they are called.
  3. Nick welcome to LOC! Don't know if this will help or not? http://lexus.sewellparts.com/oem-catalog/8404841213F-Electrical-GS400-1998.html Good luck!
  4. Don't know for sure on a 08 or not but in 10 GX you should see a trafic icon on the nav screen on the left side. Also if you go in to the settings I think you can turn on/off the traffic updates too. Good Luck!
  5. That's funny I just had a guy come in my office today that got a $367 rate decrease on his policy because of his tenor. You have no idea what you are talking about. Sure you can save money by shopping around different insurance companies...we do it for people all of the time. But if you think loyalty with an insurance company doesnt mean something you are grossly mistaken. I had a guy that thought the same come in my office that had switched to Progressive Direct from State Farm. He had saved about $300 every 6 months. Well he had a claim and Progressive tripled his rate from what it was. Guess what his OLD State Farm policy had an accident forgiveness feature included in it…because he had been with them for so long. I was able to save him some money but there is no way I could get the rate back down to what he was paying with State Farm because of the new claim. I have seen situations where companies have reinstated policies that have canceled for a customer oversight, that would have cost the insured loads of money in fines from the DMV, and force placed coverage from lien holders…do you think the companies do that for someone who has been with them for 3 month or for someone who has been with them for years. I am an independent insurance agent and I have contracts with over 18 different carriers. As far as your claim experience well it is a shame that you had a bad experience. Did your agent offer to help? No one is EVER happy when a claim occurs…so most people are already upset to start with. Insurance companies have to file their rates with the STATE that the are doing business in…if they want to take a rate increase then the state will have to approve it so no they dont just arbitrarily raise your rates. (this is at least the case with the states I am licensed in and to my knowledge it holds true with all states) And let me tell you… that your one experience with your bad claim experience makes you the expert on ALL Insurance CLAIMS and companies. And now we all know that insurance compaines dont care about their customers at all. Thanks for your brilliant insight!
  6. I do it all of the time with pandora. It works fine for me using an iPhone 3GS. I usually use the Bluetooth.
  7. Hey! Welcome to LOC by the way!
  8. I think the brand that I used was Rain X brand wipers and they always seemed to work fine for me. I know if they start streaking to much you can clean the wiper blades with a cotton ball and rubbing alchol and it will help. Good Luck!
  9. Have you sat in the LX with the service advisor to show them or let them hear the noise. My previous RX330 had a sunroof noise that drove me NUTS...kept saying can not duplicate noise...so I just drove the guy around and he heard it and they fixed it. Good Luck! By the way did this ever check out? http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?app=forums&module=forums&section=findpost&pid=417927
  10. Have you changed the settings to the sport (I think it says sport) to make the suspension stiffer? If so and it still seems like the ride is to bouncy...maybe check the air pressure in the tires.
  11. Answered this in your other post. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=69590&pid=434528&st=0entry434528 Going to close this one no need to have two post on the same thing.
  12. Have you tried http://lexus.sewellparts.com/ Here you go... $215 - I think this is what you are looking for. http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accessories-catalog/viewall/SC300-1997/4319.html
  13. I always get my windows done! MD just won't allow the tint to be dark enough though. My back and front are different but it looks good. I would tint my front darker than legal here but some of the town cops don't have much to do and I have been stopped in this GX 4 or 5 times already...thank god just got warnings but twice was for tag covers. The other two or three times was for misunderstanding the speed limit sign! :)
  14. One more thing I forgot to say; make sure to verify how much engine oil you have. Since you got it from a dealer, they had to certify the car and do an oil change. In mine, there was oil up to the lowest (minimum) point on the dipstick. And on the work order, it said 'oil change up to 4 litres'. The RX takes about 6 litres. You need to find another dealer. Also on the tire swapping why would a dealer do that? Most car dealers higher end ones anyway don't even sell used tires. So why would they want to trade 4 used tires for 4 better used tires? Then send it to another dealer to set the tps? Also...if you can't tell when test driving a car that the tires haven't been balanced come on! All 4 tires not balanced and you need to see a work order?
  15. It all depends on the state that you reside in…most states require some form of liability insurance but (I THINK) there are some state’s like Alaska that you can avoid having insurance…but I honestly am not sure about that. You would have to check with your state's DMV to find out their insurance requirements. I don't know much about self insuring it at all. If you would happen to be in a state that you can self insured you must post a deposit with the state or have a bond in an amount equal to the minimum liability limits of the state. It is a terrible idea and "may" end up one of the most costly mistakes someone could make. Even if you have enough money to self insure...you more than likely wouldn't have enough money to pay out a substantial claim without loosing everything you have. I have an insured that is being sued for 2 million right now...so if you have that kind of assets they will absolutely go after them. Let's say he decided to self insure...post a $50,000 bond or deposits an amount of $50,000 with the state so he wouldn't have to pay insurance and now faces a claim like this? The attorney fees too. The best way to reduce cost is to kind of self insure...raise your deductibles as high as you can. This way you are self insuring against small claims however you are insured for the big ONE. But keep the limits there to protect you. If I was worth 100 million dollars I would still have insurance…AND A LOT of it…
  16. Tom I guess we are just not going to see eye to eye on this. But I deal with claims every day...today's cars especially higher end cars are not totaled as easy as you may think. Doesn't matter anyway the facts are it is much, much, MUCH greater that someone will have a fender bender than a total loss therefore there is no discount associated with the depreciation of your car. As I said before companies find that people with new cars have fewer claims. And the theft deal...facts are facts. You can't take a coat hanger and pop the lock of every car anymore and most cars have some type of anti theft device too. I am not saying I don't see your point. (my car cost 66k drove it 3 years and now it is worth 30k and my premiums went up). Usually it isn't the premiums on the comp or collision it is the medical or liability coverages...however the discounts associated with the new car that I was speaking of applies to the comp and collision coverages
  17. Where are you DC? I will send him a PM for you with your post... Welcome to LOC!
  18. Here is your beer Army! And here is a few for the rest of the troops...great JOB!
  19. Welcome to LOC! Not sure what options were available on the is's but someone will chime in. Usually just because a car has nav in it doesn't mean it has the ML system in it.
  20. Welcome to LOC! Check with DCfish! I am sure he can help...
  21. Jim you sure are one resourceful guy!
  22. I have the ML in my GX and I just leave it on... I haven't played with the surround option that much. To be honest the past few days have been riding my "SE DEUCE" and there is nothing like the silence of those pipes. No radio, no cell phone, no car seats! And I can run the ______ out of it and it still gets over 40 mpg...
  23. Oh don't worry You'll get used to it! seriously though I am just guessing. I honestly don't even pay attention to the beeps at all...other than the seatbelt beep that drives me nuts. I always wear my seat belt but wow that could drive you crazy for sure. The one thing I've always wondered about, but have never tried, is if you have the car running and you get out and walk away, leaving the car running, and the FOB is in your pocket, the car door is unlocked, will it ever shut itself off as a security feature? Don't think it will. Another thing is the fob won't allow you to lock the doors when the car is running. But you can take the key out of the fob and lock it.
